After my local bike shop was closed, I had no idea where to get my bike serviced. I reached out on Facebook and recieved the perfect reply from Daniel. With no hassel at all he picked up, and returned, my bike the next day in full working order. I couldn't be more thankful for such a great service. I'd give more stars if I could. Sorted us out with an emergency repair requiring a new bottom bracket bearing and chain. We had a ferry booked and Nick squeezed us in. He did a really good job and recommended further work when we return home. Great service and friendly approach. Highly recommend.

Nick is a genius. He is a mechanic and a philosopher, a wit and a gentleman. He saved our holidays by diagnosing a dodgy shifter and remedying the problem with judicious application of unction. It sounds simple, and indeed it is, like all the best things about bicycles. But Nick’s rusty shed is where is happened. If you’re in in a fix in Oban, Nick’s the man to fix it.

Should be called “Crusty Bikes” given the dour telephone manner. But don’t let this put you off! The shop saved my cycling holiday by doing an after hours repair on my gear changer. The shop rep was more than helpful and went out of his way to effect a skilful repair on a Shimano Tiagra gear set. I’ll happily thole a dour Scots welcome for such excellent service and at a very reasonable price.

We contacted Nick at the rusty cycle shed while were on the ferry into Oban. We had a broken spoke nipple and just 2 hours to get groceries and fuel and get the wheel fixed before our next ferry out again. Another cycle shop in Oban didn’t sound too keen to help, but Nick’s answer was a simple ‘yes’. No flashy logos or bright lights, just a bike parked outside an anonymous looking doorway, but inside was an aladdins cave of bikes, a small workshop and of course Nick. 10 minutes work, and a very reasonable 10 quid, including truing the wheel and replacing another nipple that broke in the process (note to self: must replace all the others) and job done with a bit of bike chat thrown in for free. We were on our way with time to spare. Highly recommended. Thanks Nick!!

I hired a bike from Nick in Oban to cycle the Hebridean way. The bike Nick provided were just what we needed, it was all ready when I arrived, in great condition and functioned well throughout the trip. Nick responded to enquiries quickly and was accommodating and flexible to our arrival and return timings. I would recommend Nick’s services!

I managed to hire a bike for the day at short notice. It was waiting for me by the time I arrived. Lovely bike and great value. Gave my 15-year-old Mtb the service it desperately needed without spending a lot of money - he had lots of spare parts in his shed and fixed it quickly.

This is no ordinary bike shop - it really is a rusty cycle shed! Fantastic location in a beautiful glen right on NCR 78, so great for tourists. It might be worth getting directions as could easily be missed. We got chatting and Nick is no ordinary mechanic, having supported Mark Beaumont's record round the world ride. He took loads of time exploring solutions to my problem and I left happy at a great price. Highly recommended.
