Unpleasant stay
I was just very unfortunate in getting a room in houses that hadn't been maintained in high standard so I'm very glad to never ever having to consider staying with them again. The rent was a rip off anyway and as a result I was over £5,000 worse off in terms of how much rent I had to pay in a year compared to what I had previously paid as a lodger and a tenant in previous house shares. It's meant to offer something much more of a homely feel than either a hotel or B&B but unfortunately not because not all their so called 'lovely' rooms aren't exactly lovely with cracks in both walls and ceilings, paint melting off, leaky roofs, nasty surprises in communal areas and other sharers who were difficult to live with because they were very untidy and behaved inappropriately! The photos in their rooms aren't even up to date so it isn't exactly right that what you see in person doesn't reflect them. Hotels and B&Bs tend to have much more recent photos and RLR didn't exactly give me a pleasant stay during the long period of time I was looking to secure alternative accommodation that was cheaper, higher standard and smaller house share.
