Great service - excellent advice and guidamce

I made an offer through your online system, which immediately advised me that the offer was too low. That was absolutely fine, and I had no issue with the offer being declined.

A sales representative then contacted me (called 3 times whilst I was at work) then emailed within the space of 24hrs to reiterate that my offer was too low and explained why he believed the registration was worth considerably more. I explained that I personally didn’t agree with the valuation and felt the plate was worth less, but again, I had no issue with us simply having different views on its value.

The number plate is worth what someone will pay for it…

Unfortunately, rather than leaving it there, sales representative continued to explain why my view was wrong and why the registration was worth more. I completely understand that this is a sales environment and that there will naturally be an element of trying to justify a price, but the exchange didn’t feel like a sales conversation. It felt more like an attempt to prove me wrong.

I think some additional customer service training would be beneficial here. A customer is perfectly entitled to place a value on something and decide that the asking price isn’t right for them, just as you are perfectly entitled to decline their offer. There doesn’t need to be a winner or loser in that conversation.

I also found the emails generally quite blunt and not particularly helpful. Once it was clear that we couldn’t agree on a price, which again is absolutely no problem, I then continued to receive daily sales emails regarding registrations. Given the experience I’d just had, this only added to the frustration.

I’m providing this feedback because I genuinely think the way the conversation was handled could be improved. I was a potential customer looking to spend money with your business; even if we couldn’t agree on this particular registration, a better interaction could have meant I returned to purchase another one in the future.
