Don’t bother, scam

Don’t bother, it’s a scam - I doubt they ever pay out to anyone.

Our seller pulled out after we told them our survey had raised some queries and could we discuss. Rhino rejected our claim because apparently us telling the seller we’d had a survey was us ‘adversely influencing’ them to pull out.

We are going to dispute the decision but will probably have to go to the ombudsman as I doubt Rhino will budge.

Be very careful with these two…

Be very careful with these two companies.

Please read my recommendation carefully regarding when to buy with them and when not to.

If the bank gives you a free valuation (do not buy), as most banks only do an internal assessment and won't send you the document they'll ask for (and they know this and take advantage of it).

If you pay for your bank's valuation: then you can buy the policy, as you'll have the evidence to back up that the valuation was low.

I purchased Home Buyers Protection Insurance from HomeOwners Alliance , who work in conjunction with Rhino Protect Insurance, Legal Claims Department, Windsor House, Troon Way Business Centre, Humberstone Lane, Thurmaston, Leicester, LE4 9HA

I began the processing of the indemnity claim submitted on my behalf on May 27, 2025, at 11:38 a.m. It has now been almost a month, and despite multiple attempts to communicate with this company since the aforementioned date, I, Mr. Germán Alfonso Cepeda Pérez, have still not received a verdict or the timely payment of the indemnity for which this policy was specifically contracted. I only receive emails stating that they are still studying my case. All requested evidence has been duly submitted, clearly demonstrating my entitlement as the policyholder to the said indemnity.

As you can see, the handling of this matter is disastrous and a constant mockery, clearly designed to avoid paying the indemnity.

Waste of money and time

Waste of money and time. Bought home buyers insurance and found out the property I was going to buy had 99.99% of damp present and would require the kitchen and boiler to be removed for several months while the walls dry out and get damp proofed. In Rhino Insurances final decision, they lied and said I already knew the damp existed and once I found out the kitchen and boiler would need to be replaced, I pulled out. This is a complete lie and I attached all evidence and communication supporting my claim, so I wouldn’t bother picking them as an insurance company, they twist your words and leave you stressed in an already stressful situation.

AVOID HOME SELLERS PROTECTION

AVOID HOME SELLERS PROTECTION! They only pay out on a certain small criteria if your buyer pulls out, such as the buyer being given notice of redundancy, or the buyers relocation not completing, etc. If the buyer themselves fails to get a mortgage, or decides not to progress the transaction, Rhino will not pay out. Ultimately, they haven't protected me. Instead, they took money from me upon selling the policy and failed to reimburse any costs incurred. Their policy is not worth a penny. Avoid.

Title: Lack of Acknowledgment and Concerns from Reviews

I contacted AIG Insurance for legal assistance and was directed to Rhino Protect Ltd. They promptly sent an application form requiring extensive details, which I filled out and returned immediately. However, it's been over a week, and I have yet to receive any acknowledgment of receipt.

Looking into Trustpilot reviews has made me feel quite pessimistic about the company's reliability. This lack of communication only adds to my concerns. I hope Rhino Protect will prove they are good at their Job .

I will update this review based on how the situation progresses.

Stressful claiming process

Update: after sending the last required document we received an email that now we need to wait for the decision, having everything on file. We will see. I updated from 1 star to 3 stars at the moment because the claiming process was stressful. Original review: In the process of claiming as first time buyers. We have a good reason for claiming stated in the terms of condition, though they keep wanting more and more evidence, more documents even though they have a lot of them that prove we are entitled to our money. I don’t understand why they can’t just pick up the phone and contact the estate agent to get the seller’s solicitors details and double-check the reason why they withdrew the property from the sale. That reason is clearly stated with the house address in a written email that we have received from the agent. Having spent over £2000 in 5 weeks on solicitors, broker, survey+ the £79 insurance, being so happy that we will at least get some money back from the insurance. Also they usually wait until the end of the day and the end of the week to make you aware of the extra needed proof.I will update this review accordingly after the end result. My stress levels are through the roof so please think twice before buying.
