Stay away from this company
Very disappointing and stressful experience with this car rental company in Rome.
We booked a car online through New Solution. The confirmation email stated the rental and return location as New Solution Rent, Via di Portonaccio 122, Rome. However, when we arrived at the address, the company operating there appeared to be RM Car Rentals, which was already confusing.
We rented the car on 1 April 2026 and paid a €500 deposit by credit card. We also purchased full protection insurance for €28 per day. The car was returned on 14 April 2026 at the same address without any issue, damage claim, or additional charge being raised. We were told that the deposit would be refunded within 48 hours.
As of 11 May 2026, the €500 deposit has still not been refunded.
I contacted the company several times. I sent emails on 20 April, 29 April, and 4 May. The first two emails were ignored. After the third email, they replied only by saying that the matter would be processed within 48 hours, but no refund was made. I also called their phone numbers 18 times and sent many WhatsApp messages. Almost all of these attempts were ignored.
On 7 May 2026, the company finally sent another email apologising and stating that they had found that the transaction had been reversed/cancelled and that they would check the issue with their bank. They asked for my IBAN so that their administration could make a bank transfer to resolve the problem without further delay. I provided the requested details, but as of 11 May 2026, I have still received no payment confirmation and no refund.
The issue is not only the missing €500 deposit. The bigger problem is the complete lack of communication and accountability after the rental. The car was returned without any dispute, yet the deposit has not been returned and the company has repeatedly failed to provide a clear and reliable solution.
Based on my experience, I would strongly not to rent anything from this company.
