DO NOT GO NEAR THIS DEALERSHIP
I am extremely disappointed with my experience at S A Motors. What started as a positive interaction quickly became appalling once the sale was completed.
I purchased a Renault Megane and within 15 minutes of driving home, a “braking system fault” warning appeared. Naturally, I returned to the dealership immediately. The change in attitude was instant and noticeable. Andy, who had been friendly and engaged before the sale, appeared completely uninterested once the money had changed hands.
There was a complete lack of sympathy or understanding, especially considering this was my first time buying a car and an incredibly stressful situation to experience straight away. This was made even more concerning given that the car supposedly had an MOT completed the same day.
Andy stated that he would fix the issue “out of goodwill,” which was misleading. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, a dealer is legally obligated to repair or refund a vehicle that is faulty at the point of sale, at no cost to the customer. This was not a favour or goodwill gesture.
When I asked about my legal right to a full refund, I was told I would lose £150 in an “admin fee.” This is also incorrect and unlawful. If a vehicle is faulty, a dealer cannot deduct admin fees from a statutory refund.
This entire experience left me feeling dismissed, misled, and taken advantage of. It is a real shame, as the sale started well, but the lack of professionalism, transparency, and basic customer care after the issue arose was unacceptable.
I would strongly advise anyone considering this dealership to be extremely cautious and fully aware of their consumer rights.
