I provided them with a lot of detailed information in respect of a tax inquiry for a purchase of my family home. They came back with a standard blurb that I could have written and then quoted an extortionate fee ( up to £3000!!!!) for helping me. I instantly thought that anyone would be mad to use them. The little people get ripped off by the government and these sort of companies. Sad times.

Massively overpriced audit service when…

Massively overpriced audit service when you get staff who don't know what they're doing and are winging it, and partners who are only interested in raising bills. These are the guys who signed off Greensill no doubt for the lure of cash. Do yourself a favour and use Crowe, RSM, Kingston Smith, AAB, PKF or one of the many alternatives.

Short-sighted, unprincipled, and disappointing

After my experience with this firm’s High Wycombe office, I would be wary of dealing with or recommending Saffery Champness. In a nutshell, my wife and I attended a ‘free’ tax planning meeting. More information was requested and the firm offered to explore a particular issue. No fees were mentioned or suggested. We were then told - post facto - that this work would need to be paid for (£600). This put us in a difficult position as we did not want to spoil what we thought might be a good relationship going forward. We paid the invoice but, in the end, our exit was too small to justify this firm implementing their suggested tax plan. I was reminded of this experience recently by another founder with a similar experience. We would not be so naive these days. This business practice is short-sighted, unprincipled, and disappointing.
