I withdrew £484 on 15 June 2026 because I was experiencing financial hardship. Unfortunately, my bank rejected the payment and it was returned to Salary Finance.

I contacted Salary Finance the same day and was assured the matter would be resolved quickly. I then had to call on 15, 16, 17 and 18 June because I wasn’t receiving the updates I had been promised.

It was only on 18 June, after I chased again, that I was told Salary Finance had received the returned funds. I asked for the money to be sent back immediately, but was told this couldn’t be done because my payroll had already been finalised for 26 June.

After payday on 26 June, I contacted them again expecting the refund to be issued. Instead, I was told the matter had been passed between different teams (Finance, Technical and Accounts), with no clear timescale for when I would actually receive my money.

I eventually spoke to a supervisor, who apologised for the poor communication and promised better updates. However, it is now 30 June and I still have not received my £484.

The lack of communication, inconsistent information and repeated delays have been extremely disappointing, particularly given that I explained from the outset that I was in financial hardship.

I have submitted a formal complaint and, if this is not resolved promptly, I intend to refer the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service and report my concerns to the Financial Conduct Authority.
