Scarborough Open Air Theatre Reviews 

After travelling for 21/2 hours having great seats it was spoilt by a woman standing up the whole time i hardly saw a thing as the woman next to me very annoying when you cant take an umbrella as it would restrict peoples view ,there should be signs or marshalls to stop this so everyone xan have a great time.

Well organised friendly staff was a great night all staff and food options good toilets good so enjoyed the evening thank you to all staff

Too many Issues
Ordering tickets through the Ticketmaster App, to then have no choice but to downoad another App, specifically for the venue.
After queing for a short time to get in the was no internet to connect to at the enterance, so I was told to go and screenshot the tickets, this just doesn't work and is a security feature or a digital ticket. So your staff need retraining on this.
Finally get through the entrance and walk over to a bar, which was very poorly organised, the staff weren't ocnpletely sure who was serving who, and I had the privaledge of paying almost £7 for a can of lager that I dont think had been near a fridge for the weekend, as well as being told that if I ordered a can of water (£3.30 complete extortion, also warm), that they had to open it, so apparenlty you don't trust your guests.

When we then got to our seats there was more issues, I had moved away from the sliver for WiFi that was availiable so I was unable to show the security the tickets, again security suggested finding somewhere I could load the ticket and take a screen shot. If fell like all of your security team need retraining because none of them understood the issues with the system your business has put in place.
I ended up having to join a "public WiFi" near the seating area to regain access to my tickets, while doing this I had no change to read the "terms and conditions" I had to agree because there was a show about to start, I feel it is very predatory to make somebody agree to terms that you don't give them time to read.

Later while Skunk Anansie were playing there was a couple sat directly behind me who kept arguing until one of them left the seating area and I didn't see them come back for the rest of the show, the lady left behind then began to harrass me, and then phoned somebody to be verbally abusive to me.
Security didn't respond very quickly, she had drank too much but jept returning with more drinks, so your bar staff were okay serving somebody who was beligerantly drunk and ruining an event for others who have spent a lot of money on tickets.

Also, get some security or stewards to be outside your venue when you get people to leave, I had multiple drunk people walk infront of my car, but you have no staff to stop people just walking into the road, but if something happens, and it's found your staff served the person too much alcohol, you can lose your license and your venue will shut.
The open air theatre has been re-open for 15 years already, but the owners are still making many guests use portaloos, including ones from next to the stage that anyone in the seats can just watch you going in. The plumbed toilets aren't great either, becasue there is so few, but so many people don't want to use the portaloos that the queues were taking too long.

Finally venue parking, you have an 8000 person venue, across the road there is a public car park that holds less than 300 cars, you have to try and find parking somewhere close to the beach, and I couldn't find availiable disabled parking for my guest within 2 miles of the venue.
I had informed the venue one of my guest was disabled, so the fact there is no way to book/reserve a disabled parking spot at the venue, so I just have to compete with every tourist who has gone to the seaside on the weekend.
I've been to Scarborough Open Air multiple times over the last frew years, but I feel like the awful event managerment, and the fact the venue dosen't seem want to invest in itself to make the customers experience better, that it might be my last.

Garbage and Skunk Anansie were both phenomenal.

Went over the bank hol weekend, watching Will Smith in concert.

Really good location, even though we were sat on the end, still a good view.

1st actual visit for a show, will look to go back next year.

Great venue, great seats, could be more bar staff and lights when leaving .

We were there for Pulp on 9th July.
The venue itself is great but we used their facility to order refreshments to our seats using a QR code. The refreshments never turned up and we were still charged for them. Tried contacting the venue all week and had no response. Be wary about ordering refreshments in this way at the venue.

Visited in Jan 2019. Booked coaches through travelandtrips.co.uk and took family and friends here. Decent place, great for all age groups.

Great big place perfect for concerts. Went to the Christmas sparkle they held last year (2018) first one they did and I thought it was really good, plenty of good local business stalls. I hope they carry on doing it each year.

We took a few days off to visit Scarborough and attend the 80's vs 90's concert on the Saturday night.

The sound and stage are amazing, the seating is good although labelling could do with being improved. Lighting is poor, as the evening progresses it makes it difficult to descend the steps

We queued for an hour, upon gaining entry we were stopped, I was not permitted to take my camera in as it breached copyright and flash photography is not permitted. Mobile phone cameras are excluded, the video content from the acts clearly available on youtube, there were also flashes galore from mobile phone cameras. I had to run back and leave my camera at the box office which closed at 11pm same time as the event finished. We had to leave 15 minutes early missing the headliners so I could collect my camera.

Double seat bookings were also rife, numerous people arguing with tempers raging.

There were a lot of families present many with older children, we sat in the seated element as my wife has a bad hip and is unable to stand for long periods, we were literally in front of the stage in white block area, the view was outstanding.. However as the night progressed this was due to change, why they serve alcohol at these events is beyond me. We took our 16 year old daughter and were looking forward to watching Midge Ure and Human League as we are fans. As the drink flowed people began to leave their seat and stood right in front of us obstructing our view. We asked politely and many did move, however one couple had other idea, they were clearly drunk, pints in hand, he swinging on the railings

My daughter asked the lady to politely move, the vile abuse received back angered me, I jumped the railings and went across, shouting my daughter, this was the only way we could then view the act. The abuse did not stop there, the husband then decided to assault me by trying to push me out of the way, it resulted in me using force to restrain him. This spoilt the last act, my daughter also distraught by what she had seen.

I don't see the point in having a seated element if people are permitted to stand and dance in front of them obstructing the view for people sat behind. The walkway in front of us was for people walking passed to and from the toilets, instead we had people prancing about, drink in hand, swearing, this was very intimidating asking them to politely move. They have a standing area, this is where these people should be put

Initially security was everywhere however as the drink flowed this diminished, I can only imagine they don't want to deal with these drunken louts.
