Spend your well earned money elsewhere

I ordered a TV stand, knowing it would take some time to arrive. It showed up out of the blue, no dispatch warning, no communication, and is really POOR QUALITY! For the price I would have expected a much better product. The drawer in the cabinet rattles each time the bass kicks in on the TV, it's permanently wedged with beer coasters to stop it from happening. I did contact the company to allow them the opportunity to rectify the problem, but after a "I'll look into it" email, I've had no further communication despite several follow up emails. I'm shocked by their blatant lack of aftercare, it seems once they've had their money nothing else matters.

Well firstly I wish I'd read these…

Well firstly I wish I'd read these reviews before I ordered! - explains a lot!
Ordered a tv unit on 31st Jan 2021 knowing it would be 8-10 weeks delivery as per the website info, so when it got to near 8 weeks I filled in the online form (the only way to contact this company - No phone numbers) to check up on my order I received no response - so I tried again this time I did get a response but only telling me they would check with the factory/warehouse and get back to me - another week went by without news so I emailed again only to be told that because of supply issues it would be at least mid May!
It turns out that these items are not made in the UK as the website implies, and they clearly don't feel the need to inform customers of such, or delays also the customer service is awful, like I said no timely follow up no offers of discount to keep my business, in my opinion they simply don't care as long as they have your money that's all that matters.
I cancelled my order after all this and fortunately I did receive a full refund.
However I will NEVER be ordering from then again.
For others who do decide to deal with them bear in mind these 2 points -
NOT made in the UK
NO way to contact them other than an internet form (cloak and dagger way of operating in my opinion)

Poor service …

Really great product and delivered promptly, however; the Nordic bench we ordered smells strongly of vomit. The packaging also smelled of it and no amount of bicarbonate of soda, or shake n vac, or Febreeze will shift it. Pippa from Scartop replied to my first email but has ignored me since. The smell is repulsive and the bench needs to be replaced. Unacceptable service so far.

The experience of getting a wardrobe …

The experience of getting a wardrobe from this company has been very poor. Paid over 700 pounds for what was basically a flat pack piece of furniture. No assembly instructions and it has taken days to eventually put the wardrobe together. We have spent hours backwards and forwards trying to sort this. Really poor and never again.

Poor delivery service.

We haven't received the furniture yet despite ordering in October. We were told that it would be week commencing 15 Feb. We did think they would be more precise before then but no. When I phoned yesterday they still didn't know which day and didn't call back as I asked them to. I am not sure how many customers are prepared to wait in all week during half term because they can't even give you a day but the response from the person I spoke to seemed to imply that other people are perfectly happy with such delivery arrangements.

Beautiful Products

I purchase from the Wakefield store constantly.

Their furniture certainly made my first house a home. They are my first choice for furniture and I am actually receiving my new bed and mattress later today!

Very excited and I expect I will receive nothing less than the perfect service I have always received.

I have never purchased online but I would recommend attending a local show room and viewing the furniture.

I also have to point out, that I have always received amazing customer service when I have dealt with this company.

Avoid like the plague - rude unacceptable conduct, I am very disappointed.

I ordered furniture a wardrobe and set of matching drawers in September from Scartop. com.Upon their delivery I had some issues with their drivers walking dog poo into my home on my carpets picked up on a grass verge outside my gated area. I told them about it and the driver asked for a cloth and some washing up liquid to clean it up, as if that would help! I tried my best to clean the mess up - they never offered yet did tell their manager they cleaned it up. I also had some issues with the wardrobe I had chosen, the finish was shoddy there were corners and bits that hadn't been painted and were not filled in and the paint finished hadn't been finished well inside and out. I've been in contact with their head office which was a very bad experience, she was ill mannered and didn't explain things very well and to be honest if I treated my customers like she treated me, I would never get anymore. They never gave me any cooling off period when I shopped on-line neither do (did) they display long distance selling regulations on their website, neither do they explain that they only give one flimsy coat to the insides of the furniture, something they said they do point out in store, yes but what if customers buy off line? the video or the site do not mention this. I complained to them immediately and also rang the Consumer Advice Bureau and was told my rights either a repair, replacement or a refund and consequential losses for the damage to my carpets and flooring. As I was quite disappointed with the wardrobe I finally thought it over and I asked them for a repair, they weren't happy with my request so I suggested a replacement which they declined on the grounds of it wouldn't be cost effective for them, what about me, the customer? These items were costly and were delivered well below standard that you would expect, apart from the cost, the door knob being loose, cracked wood internally and some internal screws weren't tightly screwed down and I snagged on of my shirts on it. So they were adamant and they said they would pick them up 15th October. I was dismayed that it was the same comedy pair who brought it in the first place, and because of the damage their did to my floor coverings I did insist they remove their shoes/trainers. Well what a pair of obnoxious men they employ, their customer services said we've been in business for 35 years, how I will never know, it was a very bad and unacceptable experience and after the last episode of bringing dog poo on their shoes/trainers, they refused to take them off this time, I said 'you are not coming in then unless you either remove your shoes or wear protectors' and promptly rang head office for permission h/office told them to remove their shoes, though one didn't how very rude is that. .....too right!!!!, saying that if he dropped any item on his toes he would get hurt, yes wearing trainers does that - trainers protect your toes from heavy wooden furniture. I asked him politely 'do you have shoe protectors' - 'no' he says angrily and then started to argue with me so I promptly put down blankets and towels in a trail to my bedroom and they said I would be forced into signing a waiver form taking no responsibility otherwise they wouldn't come into my home. IT IS MY HOME and there are certain rules about coming into it, if you have abused it I am well within my rights to ask you to remove them and/or wear protectors. I had to have my carpets cleaned and deodorised the very next day and I invoiced them for the cost £50 should have come with a health warning, how dare they walk across a grass verge and not use a footpath in this day and age when some dog owners are irresponsible !!! They have no manners at all - head office told them to take their shoes off! like I say one did but the other one promptly walked in and out on my blankets and towels do they not realise I was preventing them dirtying my home again!!! I amended the waiver form to read some different words and one of the drivers was very rude in his comments I said to him you don't have to speak to me that way! I laid down my own blankets and towels as their grey blankets are full of marks and the same ones they used when they put it over the dog mess, I didn't want the woollen bobbly bits attaching themselves to my woollen carpet, it took me ages to hoover them up the first time. I felt very intimidated and bullied by both of them I live alone and this is not what one expects from couriers, after arguing the toss. So please if you read this, never, NEVER buy anything from them that they have to bring into your home. WHAT A SHODDY terrible company. Their customer services is a lot to be desired not at all professional.....why I chose them in the first place is beyond me! I ordered some furniture from Debenhams the other day and it was the total opposite their couriers were courteous and helpful they worn shoe protectors, even Virgin did when they came to mend some wiring, what is wrong with these companies are shoe protectors too much to buy out of your profits? I am one disgruntled customer and would never recommend them in a million years, one thing I have to add they have agreed to pay me the £50 it cost to have my carpets cleaned, but this should never have happened in the first place, the driver didn't do it on purpose, granted, but initially they got me to sign a form wavering my rights when they told me it was a delivery form, so be careful what you sign, with them, if I were to warn you not to sign I would first say never buy from them, they weren't so careful loading the furniture back into the van either. Might I finally add however the CAB were very helpful in this situation, I've gone back to Debenhams where I believe their customers are their highest priority - unlike Scartop. I am waiting for a refund + costs as we speak.
