Since my first interaction with SDM property, I was very impressed with their quick service and response time. I have been living in one of their properties for over 2 years now and I have experienced zero issues with them as a tenant. They were very quick with general maintenance of the property and resolved several like fixing toilet flush, boiler breakdown during winter, faulty door, and other issues promptly. When I had a few issues with my housemates, I shared it with them and they took care of the situation even when they didn't have to. That's why despite being in a better financial situation than before, I am still unwilling to leave this property. And in future, I will continue to use their services

I was a tenant with SDM for over 3 years and have lived in 3 different properties they ‘managed’. Each one having its own problems and all run illegally and shady. In the first house share I was in they did not do any checks on who they were moving in which lead to a couple who were drug addicts who not only stole from other housemates but left used needles in the public areas of the house, when SDM were told about this nothing was done for almost 6 months, after continuous messaging about this they finally said the police were coming to throw them out the property. This of course was a lie. Something SDM do quite alot.

I was finally moved into the next house as I continued to tell them how in danger I felt and finally they found somewhere for me… across the road from the first house. When I moved in I was told that the wifi was being put in the next day and I had to inform my current work that for one day I couldn’t work due to this. Turns out the house would not get wifi until 5 months later and when asked if they were going to refund the housemates who had to pay for internet dongles to just be able to live there. They declined any refund for anyone in the house. During this time I lost my job as I was not able to work. SDM did not care. As well as this there was continued anti social behaviour where the police were called almost every night as people came in with knives. When asked for help from SDM they told me that it’s not their problem or responsibility. This led to me having to spend my savings on a hotel for a week to just get away.

And now we get to the final house…by this point I had been in my relationship for a couple of months and my partner who ended up staying with me at the 2nd house made me more aware of how illegal and wrong SDM’s behaviour was. We were told by SDM that this 3rd house was going to be different and for a while it was. But as things broke or needed replacing as things eventually do in a house, SDM did nothing to sort any problems and told us to email to maintenance email which then did nothing either, someone came in said things were broken and then left.

In conclusion, SDM is a pathetic excuse for a housing management company. So much so that the landlord we had at the third house ended up firing them. This was the best thing to happen this year and I’m so glad they are out of my life.

DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY.

However difficult your situation may be. They will take advantage and just take your money and leave you in dangerous situations.

DO NOT USE SDM. The managers breach just about every term and condition in their contract with Landlords. They put Landlords at risk of prosecution as they ignore just about every Law / Rule /Regulation. They do not do checks on Tenants, sometimes don't even sign contracts - and if they do - they breach deposit rules, fire safety rules and do no checks on properties allowing them to fall into dis repair and fail to return properties in a decent condition. Steer clear of these cowboys!!!

I have lived in there room , I left the room and my advance deposit of amount 550 pound , when I left the room mark promised to refund the amount in 2 weeks , now almost 1 month and 1 week still now not refunded ‘ I have mailed , messaged and called 100 times still now they are not responded , when I receive room , room is not clean and full of rubbish

Don’t deal with them if you want money and peace

Rooms are clean and perfect for students .peaceful and fantastic .I would like to recommend to all the students to elegant house like home

What an absolute joke of an agency we had to threaten a small claims court to get our deposit back. They DO NOT PUT YOUR DEPOSIT IN A PROTECTION SCHEME!!! I cannnot stress enough how careful you have to be if u ignore this review and go with them they don’t put your deposit in any protection scheme I have no idea how they are still running as a “business” there is only three workers there all very young and they’re response times are shocking great for when they want you’re money but when you have an issue with your home like we did for example our boiler it only just got fixed two months before we left the property they don’t reply to you unless it’s something to do with paying them! I can’t stress enough how much you should NOT go with this “company” you will be taken advantage off like they tried to do me by telling me my deposit was used for last months rent when I knew as well as they did that I payed in advance one star is too much for them!

Good communication and move in process was fairly easy.

SDM property have rented my HMO property for 2 years now, never had any issues property Is maintained to a good standard and payments on time. Mark and Daniel are very hands on and they are good at dealing with issues.

Recently moved into a rented flat from SDM
It was clean and property was looked after. Would recommend

SDM properties southampton is the one of best options for sharing rooms in southampton.

Had no problem with these guys what’s so ever, I can’t understand all the negative feedback! they were very helpful.. easy to communicate with and always made sure everything was okay with weekly check ups which was very nice, happy customer 😄

Massive bed bug infestation in new property 6 new lodgers every room infested when contact no reply ever asked for pictures evidence sent and still no response contacted rentakill and more to contact them also no bathroom light no working hot water no working washing machine no toilet seat bed bugs black mould everywhere we have pictures and video evidence if needed

Extremely happy with the service provided by SDM they found me good tenants and kept me updated throughout the entire process. Would highly recommend!

The House was cockroach infested the boiler didn't work the electrics were dangerous it took months for any repairs to be done I was never given back my deposit and I was over charged very unreliable absolutely disgusting when I whent to the office it turns out they don't even work out of it and hundreds of people had been there with similar complaints the list goes on and on DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THERE TALK AND DO NOT PUT YOUR SELF IN ONE OF THERE PLACES TO BE SCAMMED

Recently rent through SDM. They found me a property quickly and moved me in fast. The property was clean and tidy. Thank you!
