Time consuming, pays close to quoted price

Sent five shipments of 7-25 CDs each. It's essential to follow the instructions on their site: no more than 25 CDs in a box, and use MediaMail which is under half the cost of regular mail. I read negative reviews from folks that sent a huge order in a single box (they clearly state a cap on the shipping refund), or paid extra to send by UPS (this is pointless as MediaMail comes with free tracking and the post office delivered each box from NYC in 4 business days).

I broke up the shipments per the instructions, used small amazon boxes that fit snugly with bubble wrap around the CDs to minimize weight, and each time they refunded 90% of the cost I paid at the post office (which was between $3.50-$5.50). I'm guessing their refund chart is based on old shipping weight prices.

Turnaround after USPS delivery was 6-10 business days before my Paypal account was credited. Earned average $1.60/CD, and - aside from a whopping $8 for a 5-disc classical CD set - max $3.

For 1 of every 20 CDs, they claimed its jewel case was damaged and charged 35 cents. As I carefully checked (and replaced some) before shipping, this is questionable.

They responded to emails within a day.

To test their integrity, I dropped an extra CD into one box that wasn't in the order. They paid me for this, too.

It is worth comparing prices against Decluttr (see my other review). It's very quick to scan into the DC app, and around 1/4 of the time, DC pays the same or more. They prepay shipping charges and didn't ding me for jewel cases, so only send to SS if you're getting at least 10% more.

If you have many CDs, enter them all until you have exactly filled your box (no more than 25), submit the order right away, include a printout of the email in the box, then move onto the next set. This is quicker than "saving" the CD to your "collection" then later "moving" each CD back to your cart and sorting through a large pile to get them into the right boxes.

Pro tip: Over half were valued under 50 cents or not accepted. If you itemize taxes, donate these to a local thrift shop, get a receipt, and you can write off $2/CD, which gives you 50-80 cents back when you file the return. Beats spending the time carefully packaging CDs worth just a dime or quarter.

Wished I had looked at all the one star reviews before I ordered a DVD from this company... lesson learned I will from now on ... I ordered a DVD it arrived crushed on the top corners ... I emailed the company with pictures of the damage , no response , thankfully I purchased through PayPal so a case is pending, the company has 7 days to respond to PayPal if they don’t I get a refund from PayPal ... this company should be shut down !!!

Worst place to sell your stuff

Worst place to sell your stuff. At first it seems great because they offer equivalent and sometimes even higher prices for items. Then you realize how limited their catalog is and unlike competitors you have to manually input every barcode (others have apps and scanners). Oh well, still worth it, right? Nope! They allow you to sell up to two of any given item, but when they get them they will only accept a quantity of one. So they'll straight up steal the second one even though they say up to two. Did this with several items that were all brand new, so it's no fluke and the reason is clearly stated. Now I'm getting half the amount I was supposed to, they get to make money off stolen merchandise, and I got to pay to ship it to them. Which is yet another problem. Competitors just cover the shipping, but not second spin. And in fact, their reimbursement is grossly under the actual shipping costs, and they know this. Other companies make it clear no more than one of an item and they allow you to change the quantity to two, so were they honest I also would have spent less on shipping and sent fewer items. They take a very long time to pay up too. Would recommend going pretty much anywhere else.

You Pay For Shipping

Decent prices (comparatively speaking, which isn't saying much), but you have to pay for your own shipping if you're selling items. Although you'll be reimbursed, it won't be what you paid. Definitely look elsewhere, as prices vary, but you could do worse. Just don't expect much money if you're selling stuff.

I just started using this company about…

I just started using this company about 8 months ago to purchase CDs that I wanted to own after listening to apple music streaming services, especially jazz and other hard to find items. I enjoy having the artifact, the better quality sound and the liner notes. I have bought around 50 or so CDs. Only 2 discs have had issues and one time the wrong CD was in the correct package. Each of these times, the company responded within 24 hours and resolved the situation quickly and to my satisfaction. They have done an excellent job. Keep in mind you are buying a used product and the pricing and product that you receive reflects that - there is always risk involved.

I see a lot of negative reviews on the selling side which I cannot comment on as I have not sold anything to them. My experience has been nothing but positive. I think they are doing a great job and they have one of the best websites of ANY used cd outlet around.

FALSE ADVERTISMENT

So I ordered a Blu-ray boxset for a reasonable price. I had a two time period wait for the arrival and after the first due date I decided to be patient and await for the second date, WHICH IS TOMORROW, to SUDDENLY FIND AN EMAIL stating that they cancelled my order, AFTER WAITING LITERALLY A MONTH!!!

I got my refund back but the stuff so ordered IS NOW FOR SALE AGAIN AT A HIGHER PRICE

This is false advertisement:

Price
Quality
Purpose

By the way, Raising the price from $30 to nearly $50 AND IT STILL THE ONLY ONE YOU GOT THAT IS IN STOCK is laughable

Furthermore Inwould like to state that I FOUND THE SAME BLU-RAY BOXSET FOR A CHEAPER PRICE THAN SECONDSPIN ORIGINAL $30!

You had your chance to make my day, and you failed. This is No Way to treat customers and I only continue to see them disrespect your service

SECONDSPIN
Have a nice day

As someone selling to secondspin

As someone selling to seconds, I found that they pay more than most other buyers if they want your title, they do send back titles that do not meet their quality standards at no cost to you. They pay promptly and reliably.

Sent in items to sell in impeccable condition. They deducted money and gave no reason. And then did not reimburse for shipping. Equivalent to stealing, will never ever use them again. Decluttr pays a fraction less but have outstanding customer service and FREE SHIPPING.

These people pay crap for DVDs...their customer service doesnt respond well to questions...i ended up contacting them at least 8 times cause i couldnt get a straight answer...Their shipping reimbursement criteria is asinine to meet...so pretty much i was going to sell roughly 200 dvds and was gonna get 0 reimbursement for shipping which was gonna cost me at least 20 to 25 bucks for all my orders....and for the dvds themselves i think it came to about 45 bucks and it took me roughly 19 hours to do everything the correct way....

WASTE of my TIME and EFFORT
These people rob you of whatever youre selling!!!!

Confusing and convoluted trade in system. DO NOT USE!

I tried secondspin on a recommendation of a website list of options for trading in media. The lack of a dedicated mobile app to scan items to see if they are worth anything is the first negative. Second, only after typing individual bar codes from about a hundred items did I see that you have to front the shipping cost to them, only being reimbursed for USPS Media Mail shipping after.

The catch is they only reimburse up to 25 items and don't pay what it cost to ship. You have to then sell at least 10 dollars or more and ship a certain number of items to get a shipping credit. The max payout that you can get in shipping was less than what I paid to send only 17 items to them. It makes it very difficult to find items worth enough that weigh little enough to make it worth sending.

Bottom line, this service is a HUGE waste of time and I encourage you to try decluttr or another service with prepaid labels with no limits or games on how many you can send in. I will NEVER use this site again. Please stay away!

Terrible customer service

I ordered some CDs; SecondSpin sent me a box of random CDs; and when I wrote to them to inform them of this mistake, there was...silence. I wrote again after several days, and a few more days after that, I received a message back saying that the CDs I had originally ordered were out of stock (except for one) and that they would refund the money. Fine. But what to do with the CDs they sent me? It has taken them three weeks (and a lot of back and forth) to figure out that they should send me a prepaid return label. I should not have to work this hard to get their mistake fixed and I really don't understand how their customer service can be this poor. In an age when Amazon's customer service is consistently competent, I see no reason to keep buying from SecondSpin.

Overpriced garbage

Found a few out of print cds I was looking for on their website for a reasonable price, ordered them and what I received was unnaceptable. Discs were heavily scratched, some didn't play. Some of them were just garbage, the cases and overall condition of the items was abysmal and to make matters worse, I was charged around $10 per CD. Which would be acceptable if the items were in good condition but they weren't. Save your money, shop somewhere else.

Unscrupulous Robbers

It is a shame because this company could have been great but they are sneaky and underhanded. They lure people into selling their CDs by showing them that they will get paid the most over anyplace else. They even duped me into believing this. What they don't tell you is that after they "reject" everything and charge you for jewelcases and "resurfacing" you are getting the worst offering by anyone. Don't forget shipping is not free. they charge you for that too. Don't be fooled by them. Sell your media elsewhere. Seconspin are unscrupulous robbers.

Robbers!

They make you pay to ship, claiming they will reimburse you but they don't i paid 16.61 to ship a box of cds and they gave me back only 5.26
I also sent them 71.00 worth of cds and they gave me only 53.50 claiming that 7 of the cds were scratched, 1 they were not buying, and 2 that were not in the database. they also deducted ..16x35 for scratched jewelcases (what about the 16 extra jewelcases for the cds they did not accept? and then they charged another .35 times 17 for resurfacing? They pull this crap on every order they receive. They are truly disgusting. You will waste your time and lose your cds and only end up with a few dollars if any. Most people will send in the cds, not bother to write down first what they paid and what they were promised and fail to compare the actual money received. The first few times I didn't keep track either. The first and second time I caught them robbing me I ignored it and continued to send things in. but they will find things wrong with EVERY order. I will use declutter instead or one of many other choices out there until they are the only choices because this company will not stay in business long with their poor reputation that is spreading like wildfire

Excellent service

Have been purchasing cd's, dvd's, blu-rays and games from Second Spin for over 5 years now. Ordering, check out and payment are easy. On-time delivery. On the rare (and it has been rare) occasion where something has not been 100% on an item, customer service has been exceptional, max response time 24 hours and usually quicker, and it has been made right for me, no fuss, no complicated processes. Love these guys. Highly recommend.

* To avoid extra cost (taxes and duty into Canada), I often make an order a few weeks before a trip to the States and have the delivery made to the friend, hotel or business I will be visiting.
