I had an Audi A3 2014 S line model…

I had an Audi A3 2014 S line model where the time belt had skipped.
A guy named Jack called me and said they could refurbish the engine for £3,500 there abouts. I asked if they had a replacement engine to which he said he does, an engine that had done 15k miles and they would charge £5000 for that as the engine is relatively new.
I agree and they pick up the car, only for them to say they that the engine is too damaged to be refurbished and they would now how to replace the engine. The engine that they had available had done 55k miles and they would still charge me £5000.
I objected as I was lured in with the fact the would spend £3,500 for the car. I even sourced another refurbisher who offered to replace the engine for £3,500. All this time they are also pressuring me to make a decision as the car is "on the ramp and they are losing buisness" and would still charge me £1000 for the work they've done so far. So I short, I was to pay them £1000 and be left with a damaged car (which I had to tow if I wanted it relocated) or go with them for £5,000. I had no choice but to go with them
They fix they car and on the day of collection as am headed back home. The car breaks down in the middle of the motorway. After being reassured that the "works on the engine was perfect"
They had the car towed back to them (thank goodness it was still Saturday morning) and they "fixed" the issue.
5months down the line, the car has an EPC light come on inspection with a more reputable garage, they found that the turbo injectors (which Select prestige had replaced as part of the works) we not original Audi injectors, not installed properly and we faulty. I was quoted £3000 for it.
These guys trap you in and charge ridiculous amount for the work and the work below sub-standard. Avoid like plague lest they take every penny and pound.

I recently had a fantastic experience…

I recently had a fantastic experience with SelectPrestige. I had my BMW X5 engine replaced, and now it feels brand new, just like the day I bought it! The staff are highly skilled and professional. Special thanks to Vic and the team for their excellent work. Highly recommended!

I wouldn't give them my car again. You judge yourself

It started with me researching a company that could fix a crack in the cylinder head of my bmw 225xe.
Found few companies but stuck with select prestige, also trading under Vogue technics. Unit 1d, hedley way, Grays, Essex.
Melina was the lady I spoke to. Very friendly, full of knowledge and well mannered. Short fact about Melina and the owner of the company, both provided by Melina herself: the owner sits in the middle east somewhere and Melina studied law! Let that just sink in! Imagine things don't go as they should, like in my case, this is a very high mountain to climb if you want compensation should things go wrong! I would never ever let them touch my car again and wouldn't have allowed it in first place with this knowledge!
My car engine had been taken out and put back in after "fixing" it. Not without trouble from the very beginning. Dropped off my car and the work should start after 1 week, according to Melina. I called after 10 days for an update only to find out that Melina hadn't booked the car in so I had to wait another week for the work to start. I tried to get hold of melina during the next 3 weeks only to learn that she seems never really to work. No one ever knew how to reach her or where she is... After some time another guy stepped in, telling me that he will manage my case now. Only for me to find out that he started his holiday the very next day! All extremely confusing and worrying and my doubts grew daily that this was not a proper business!
I paid £5.2k for the work. No new or refurbished engine. No. Just the work. I picked up the car and wanted to pay and here another sign for how "professional" they work. Melina again not in, the other guy on holiday and they couldn't find my invoice on the computer. They asked me even if I had paid a deposit! All very unreal...

I drove off to my 60 miles journey only to find out that they hadn't topped up the oil fully! 1 liter oil was missing! And no: you can't see missing oil with the usual dip stick. You need to drive 30 min for the car to see the oil level.

2 month later and the car started making noises. I drove to the main BMW dealer and they hit me now with a £4k bill, partly in relation to the work that just had been done.
According to Melina from Prestige: not our fault. Nothing to see here...
You judge yourself. Here the list of work that had been done by BMW:

vibration damper belt and tensioner perishing/noisy and oil leaking fr om front cover and sump

REPLACING VIBRATION DAMPER OF CRANKSHAFT

incorrect coolant in vehicle

Drain coolant and fill AT radiator

Inter cooler pipe seals leaking

Remove and install or replace charge air cooler

engine stabiliser mount bush perished

Replace right engine mount

replace front lower timing case cover

Melina from prestige who studied law knows of course how difficult it would be to prove that they did wrong in court. She knows the level of evidence needed. She knows as well that the owner sits in the middle east...

This is a fight I won't take on as I can not see me winning due to detailed evidence. Even if I would win: how to claim from someone who owns this business and lives abroad...
