I got my system installed in July 2022
I got my system installed in July 2022. Ever since then I have had nothing but issues. They have came out 7 times since installation and still is not fixed. I would run away from this company as fast as possible. They are not worth the money at all. Just go look at the BBB complaints and you will understand how bad they are.
Semper Solaris did a great job
Semper Solaris put a solar system on my house 3 years ago and did a fantastic job. The system has been working as promised and literally I run the AC all day during the hot summer months because I got a bunch of extra panels to do so. I’m so glad I went solar with Semper Solaris and have referred them to multiple friends and neighbors and they all had great experiences as well. I’m unsure where these bad reviews come from but Semper is a great company and I appreciate what they did for me.

We are incredibly happy with the results and have immediately witnessed the cost savings. We can’t tell you how happy we have been with this entire process. Many many thanks to Roland Obana who’s our sales representative. He went above n beyond n gave us everything we need to know about our Solar System. Outstanding presentation. Also to Mark the lead technician and his crew who installed the System. They both courteous n know exactly what they’re doing. Again, I can’t thank you enough on everything.

They are the worst possible Company…
They are the worst possible Company !!!!! They put our solar and AC in July last year and two weeks later our whole house had water damage from it leaking into our floors , walls and ceiling. All of the owners mangers and employees ignored or never called back and hung up on us when we contacting them. We had to threaten to sue and go to the better businesses bureau for them to contact us. By then we had to take apart our whole kitchen and some of our walls because it was completely damaged and rebuild it. They took no responsibility at all. Our insurance sued them and helped us with most of the repairs. Still to this day we have problems with it leaking and other stuff wrong with it and they keep sending people out to fix it and they never fully fix it. Even asked to have the manager come out but they will not speak to us or come out. If you wanna keep your home how it is and not damage do not spend your money on these horrible people and horrible business. Had to uprooted my whole family for a year living in a construction zone had to have one of my kids live with their grandparents. grandparents. IF YOU GET ANYTHING FROM THIS DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY IF YOU WANT YOUR HOUSE TO STAY INTACT.
Crap company
Crap company. Took my Marine Corps motto and turned it into junk by affiliating with this poorly ran company.
The Semper Crap contract deceived me to believe I would have a battery backup with the clause “Manufacturers have indicated that we should have battery supply needed in Q3 2022 or later” in the Equipment to be installed section. Turns out my installation does not include battery back up. I’ll be contacting an attorney for this.
Incompetent and dishonest. Submitted permits request to LADWP without necessary pictures. Project put on hold for over a month. Once solar was powered, LADWP notified meter was not suitable for solar and needs replacement (two more weeks delayed). Wouldn’t solar company know meter needs replacement and request far in advance of LADWP inspection?
Installation was not to plans I approved. Several solar panels were installed facing east at a 21 degree incline when plans called for flat installation. Also facing South was a better option which was clearly possible.
I regret picking this company for my solar project
Started solar project early February with semper solaris. As of now, 5 months later, I do not have a fully operation system and have to start payments...Wish I would of read some of the other reviews b/c I feel the same and picked another company.

As returning customers... but not again
As returning customers with a positive experience we were excited to use Semper Solaris for our solar and roof needs when we moved. My husband is a veteran and we love to support veteran owned companies. Unfortunately this experience was beyond terrible. Trying to keep the review short and to the point, there were multiple miscommunication issues between the roof installers and Semper Solaris as to what we paid to have completed. At one point they told us we had to pay more for something that was discussed and we were told would be included. During this time, and throughout our entire experience, the Semper Solaris employee (I have names) working with us would not return calls. When a payment was due however they were constantly calling/confirming a payment would be ready. They charged our account twice for thousands of dollars because of yet again a miscommunication on their part. During the time we noticed the double charge there was again no reply from the employee that was so worried about getting the check in the first place. To be fair they made that right, but it shouldn't have happened in the first place. When issue after issue occurred I contacted customer service, not looking for anything but to get our project on track the only thing she could says was she was "super sorry." I asked to talk to someone else about our issues and was told complaints needed to be held by the construction department, mind you this was customer service I was speaking with. At this point it was clear our issues and our need for "customer service" was a moot point to the company. After the final inspection, in which Semper Solaris was present, there was still items anchored to our roof, and naturally we had to contact them again to have that taken care of. We are returning customers that will never use Semper Solaris again, nor will we make any recommendations, which we also did in the past. Disappointed in this veteran owned company is an understatement.
Overall TERRIBLE company
Overall TERRIBLE company! One owner was in the military and claims that he wants to do right for his customers but don’t be fooled as it’s all a sales pitch! I signed a $130k roofing, solar, battery contract after a year-end sales pitch in December. I was assured that our project would take priority, but they didn’t have our solar layout drawings until late February. We approved the layout right away and were informed that it would take a month to go through permitting. Meanwhile after expressing frustration for the roofing delays, our roofing project started March 24th. After a week our project was stalled because they couldn’t match our concrete tile. The subcontractors (yes, subcontractors!) left 25% of our roof exposed for a month. The roof wasn’t completed until mid-May, as they didn’t have the resources to fully complete the project and pass inspection. Back to the solar, in mid April I contacted our city permitting office to find the status of our solar permit, since no one in management would give me a status. I found out that the plans were rejected three times because the drafts-person kept making errors in circuit drawings. After requesting that they have THEIR electrician go over the circuit relocation Semper had proposed, I was horrified to find out that he would not recommend the plan as it would pose a FIRE HAZARD as our circuits would be overloaded. I’ve spoken to three different customer service “supervisors,” expressing my poor experience, and requesting that I speak to management or ownership to no avail. When signing the contract I had the salesperson put in the contract that if anything was different that was presented to me in cost that I would have the right to cancel. The $5k panel upgrade that was presented to alleviate the fire hazard triggered that clause. I’ve requested a cancellation of the solar and battery contract three weeks ago, and crickets, no one in customer service will return an email or call! The owners talk a good game in their million dollar infomercials, but have no desire to rectify their customers bad experiences…they fall awfully short of doing right for their customers!
I requested a quote but never received…
I requested a quote but never received a call or email. Don't waste your time. Seems like they're too busy to even field sales inquiries.
Every step of the way were mistakes…
Every step of the way were mistakes and mishandling of the project, right up until the very end.
FIRST, the turnover of employees is fascinating, literally I was called on the Wednesday before the project was to start by the supervisor, and on Monday was told that he was let go.
I had roof leaks after they finished the roof part, prior to the solar install, dishonest answers to most questions, employee’s working 1 1/2 - 2 hour days in the beginning. Changes to the layout of the solar panels and batteries so many times that I could hardly keep track. All the way up to the end when they turned on the system and the batteries weren’t working. They didn’t put the fuses in the fuse box. Fortunately I kept a log of the issues
ONLY hire this com-any if you have the time to be the supervisor and project manager.
Lastly, you won’t find any veterans coming to your house. Everyone from the sales people to the installers and supervisors all said the same thing, They don’t go to the houses, there are only a few veterans in management. Those are direct quotes from employees. I never spoke to a single veteran.
AWFUL, DISORGANIZED, INCOMPETENT (2.5 yr disaster)
Work with literally anyone else. I engaged Semper to install batteries and hook up existing solar panels I already had on my roof. This took them 2.5 years. I spoke to literally 30+ people over the course of the project, none of whom had any idea what was going on at any point. They failed inspection 3x. They installed a safety bollard in the middle of my garage turning it into a 1-car garage which obviously doesn't work.
The cherry on top was that they reviewed my account and attributed this disaster to regulatory complications, when for instance my project languished in their design review for 6-wks while we underwent utility black outs during fire season and my children took freezing cold showers.
These guys are clowns and one of the biggest time sucks of my adult experience. Use their competitors.
The Stuff of Nightmares - RUN AWAY
This is a very brief summary of the 10 month long nightmare I experienced with this company.
- They don't have access to batteries less than 6 months out and will lie about availability to make the sale
- They will schedule installation dates with full knowledge they don't have anything available to install and repeatedly reschedule at the last minute in an attempt to cover for themselves.
- They don't read the notes from failed code inspections, don't fix the problems multiple times, and lie about what's wrong.
- They don't know the electrical code in California and will lie about local code having changed to cover for it.
- They don't know the SGIP process or requirements and will get it wrong.
- They refuse to provide their legally required contractor's bond information when repeatedly asked for it.
Stay away and use another solar…
Stay away and use another solar company. Semper Solaris is dishonorable and misrepresents their services. There was so many issues with our installation that I requested a small 5% discount/reduction for all the misrepresentations and inconveniences. They choose to battle me over email and voicemails left at 7AM or on weekends over multiple months. Their communication was horrific. They just ask for money vs. trying to solve a problem or even apologize. They have not agreed to any resolution except to threaten me. They do not care about customer service or satisfaction. There are many solar installation companies, don't use Semper you will be much happier.
Here are the details.
First they promised to install by the end of Dec, but then delayed until March, then April. We locked in a good week when the kids didn't have school some days. We made our work schedules light because we expected power disruptions and banging on the roof.
The installation took 6 days vs. 2 days promised due to their teams working short hours, 4-5 hours and not having full teams show up together. Even worse it was not 6 consecutive days but spread out over 4 weeks. They had to turn off our power most of those days creating many issues as we worked from home and had kids in school via Zoom.
Additionally, they had told us they could install the equipment on the side of our house, but when they came to install it was physically impossible and thus they had to install on the back of our house, not hidden and creating an eyesore. Had we know this, we would have made a very different decision and not purchased the Powerwall.
See pictures to see the promise vs. reality. Also note how many boxes are needed, I have not seen that at our friend's house who have solar.
Their installers were polite, the problem was always with Headquarters which is likely not local. I strongly recommend avoiding any Semper Solaris franchise because they all connect to the back-end HQ which doesn't care about its customers or local providers.

Call center was very rude and unprofessioanal Stay away
I explained my situation changed and was relocating. I would reevaluate at new home. Person became angry and hung up for no reason. Never will they get my business!
Semper Solaris Tried to up charge me…
Semper Solaris Tried to up charge me twice for 2500.00 each time. After a site inspection they started installing in a couple of weeks. So far so good. Once they started I get a call trying to get me to pay another 2500.00. I told them they can leave. So they told me they would just absorb the cost. Project continued, they told me they would have to cut the driveway, I said ok as long as they fix it. The job foreman said of course they would. Cool! Contractor came out to appraise the concrete job, then nothing. I kept calling to see what was going on. After trying 3 or 4 times, I was told they would have to get approval because the cost was so high. Then nothing again. After calling all the time with no return phone calls. I finally got a call, they said they weren’t paying for the concrete to get repaired. What a bunch of crap! Now I’m getting a attorney to sue them for the driveway repair.
Do not trust this company
Do not trust this company. It's been 8 months since we agreed to work with this company and we have nothing to show for it. Yesterday was supposed to be the installment day and no one showed up. I finally received a phone call at 4pm with many apologies. I feel like we have been scammed.
Broken Promises...7 months and nothing to show for
I don't write many reviews but feel it is necessary that I provide my experience so those considering Semper Solaris as their Solar Provider will be informed to not make the same mistake I did.
I started this journey as most of you do by researching all the companies in a competitive space to make sure you are making the right choice. I met with Several companies and had it narrowed down to a very well known business that has been in the solar industry longer than anyone else nationally. However; there were some appealing things about Semper Solaris at the time that I appreciated and being a Military Vet myself; that was important to me. I was then persuaded by free Tesla 2 Power Walls as part of the package; that made it hard to turn down and giving back to my military brothers and sisters would have been a good choice so I made the choice to go with Semper Solaris.
Well...I started this project with Semper Solaris in September of last year with the promise that I'd have Solar Panels and batteries before the end of the year last year so I could take advantage of the Solar Tax credit. Here I am at the end of March the following year with nothing to show for. Had the government not extended the Solar Tax Credit for another 2 years, this would have been a huge disappointment as the Tax Credit was supposed to go down significantly in 2021 which was another selling tactic by Semper Solaris, bullying tactic really.
If it weren't for me calling and emailing their customer service; I would have not gotten the information they were sitting on for almost a month...so I was told. They were aware that I was not able to get the batteries and that the State Rebate ran out so now I was left with nothing but a work order to now have to pay another 10K... I'm no business man but I do understand dollars and cents, doesn't take a genius to know that is not how business should be done. The problem was; I was setup for failure from the get go and a design that was over provisioned. That information should have been communicated to me as soon if not within the week this information was given to Semper Solaris. This should have been taken into account if the selling point is getting free batteries instead of designing an over provisioned system that I can only assume was in their favor not mine.
Now...after communicating all of this to customer support, texting the Sales Person whom I would never hear back from and customer support not answering emails and if they did or if I were so lucky to get a call; it was the same old thing, we will talk to the sales person, we will forward the email to the sales person, we are sorry you are going through this experience...we will get this resolved...blah blah blah. I have not seen any action or communication to me on how to get this resolved and that was over a month ago. Remember; I started this project with Semper Solaris in September of 2020 and March 2021 is coming to an end so it's been 7 months and nothing to show for. It has been a complete waste of time filled with frustration and disappointment. I know had I gone with the company I was just about to hire; I would not be in the position I am in today...I have had absolutely nothing done and my neighbors around me who started after me already have panels up and running on their roofs.
I'd give 0 stars to Semper Solaris if I could
My advice to anyone considering Semper Solaris; I would highly recommend you do your research and find another company...don't make the same mistake I did.
BEWARE of Semper Solaris
BEWARE of Semper Solaris. This is the first review I have ever written. If you are planning to put solar on your house, this is worth reading. My intention is to share my story, so this does not happen to anyone else. I signed a $50K+ contract with Joshua Daguman from Semper Solaris in August to build a patio cover with 20 solar panels and install 2 Tesla Powerwalls. I do not have a good south facing roof, so asked Josh on the feasibility to build a new patio cover with 20 solar panels as the roof. Josh said that it would not be an issue. He presented the pricing and although he wanted us to sign the contract immediately, we signed it a few days later. The communication was a cluster F from that point. We scheduled the on-site assessment and Semper instructed me to change my SDG&E rate structure from the standard rate to time-of-use, in order to qualify for the SGIP program. I was hesitant because the change would essentially double our monthly bill until the solar system and Powerwalls were installed. I clarified the rate increase in writing with Semper and they still pushed for me to change the rate structure. We changed it just before the weekend of 109 degree record setting temps. Later that week I was ready for the site assessment, but nobody showed up. After the "no show", I contacted Semper Solaris to learn that Semper canceled my contract 6 days earlier. I didn't even know that was possible to cancel a contract. I thought that was the whole intention of having a contract. During those 6 days I had communication with Josh about the time-of-use rates and he never told me that Semper was canceling the contract, why they did not want to complete the project, or to propose different options.
I tried to contact the owners, but they seem to be untouchable, nobody within Semper can actually contact them. Josh did finally return my call and said they did not want to take the liability. I am still beyond livid. There is no way this would be acceptable in a normal corporate environment. So, now I am stuck with the 2X time-of-use rates and Semper gets to walk away. These solar companies only want to slap panels on a roof and get on to the next job. Maybe when the federal rebate is further reduced they will actually need to think about how they conduct business.
If anyone reads this and they are thinking of going to Semper Solaris, stay away. This may happen to you. I hope this helps at least one person.
Absolutely no response from your company. Zero.
This is the third time I am sending a request to hear from your company and get a quote. I have heard nothing from you guys. No messages what so ever. Just nothing. So there you go.
