Service is getting better.
I have had major issues with them in the past but they seem to have taken on board that they need to improve. Last 3 advisors I spoke to were all very professional, so clearly making some improvements, and deserve another chance. I like that you can now rate your experience and your advisor.

Still inconsistent
It seems most people on here who complain get a letter of final response from the share company!
They do not address all the points that you make to them. Even their own terms and conditions!
I feel that even by speaking to them again I would be knocking my head against a brick wall .They may offer you a wee sweetie tell you everything is final and if you don’t like it you have got 6 months to write to the ombudsman.
They have served me well in the past but their present customer care even when they are wrong needs to be exposed!

Warning
They ask you to produce your bank statement purchasing funds when you wish to sell. For me this was over 20 years ago. Cannot understand why they refuse to return funds to longstanding customers. Very worrying.

POOR SERVICE do not trust
I purchased shares with this company and although they have never sent me an invoice for retaining the shares, they have now sold them at a very low price to reimburse themselves for fees? The only emails you are bombarded with are for further purchases and I have now been informed it was my responsibility to view statements to check for fees??

I have found the Share centre staff knowledgeable and helpful. I can usually get through on the phone or an email reply in a short time.
I really hope the customer service doesn't deteriorate with the merger with iii. I wasn't impressed with them in the past and there will be quite a bit of work for them to do to come up to the Share Centre standard.

Please make sure your merger with ii is win-win for all.
Great platform with flat fees and quality research+blogs. But the takeover or merger with iii and the delisting of share plc shares should not mean existing share plc shareholder customers loose out on their existing benefit of the dealing discount. Lets see if the merger is a win for the customer shareholders as well.

Customer Satisfaction not a priority
On 2nd June I contacted the share centre about an issue with my account. It took two chasers before a written reply was finally received on the 18th. 9 months ago, my account was transferred from another institution with two holdings. Prior to transfer dividends were re-invested on both holdings.
On receipt of my annual statement I noticed only two of the six dividends had been reinvested, on only one of the two holdings. On contacting the share centre the conversation went along these lines:
Me “Why have you not re-invested the dividends”?
SC “In our welcome letter we said that reinvestment required new instructions”
Me “Fair enough – but then why did you reinvest twice on one account”
SC ”Reinvestment was set up on this account”
Me “So why set up on one but not the other”
SC “Don’t know”
Me “On the account where it has been set up why reinvest two payments but not the third”
SC “The third was a manual dividend”
Me “Huh? But it is clearly marked dividend”
SC “Yes”
Me “So what are you going to do about this”
SC “Nothing”
In essence it was my problem. The irony is that a little bit of thought by the associate could have provided a positive customer experience at no cost to the share centre, but the impression I got is that she couldn’t be bothered with an irritating customer. As a consequence, I am looking for a new provider.
