What chance do you have if ??

Unlike some people I do tend to read the information/shipping guides provided by Auction Companies before I bid for items and liking a footstool entered by Shepherds recently, bid and was succesful in my bid.Following the instructions by them to contact them for postage costs etc I immediately did so,Received a reply to advise that the item was to large for them to send by DHL and I would have to make my own arrangements.I checked again the dimensions and was satisfied that the item fulfilled their criteria.Spoke to Jonathan in Customer Services (who was very helpful to be fair) and discussions followed about the dimensions etc.I said /he said etc.My point is according to Shepherds own appraisals/dimensions provided this item complies within them and I would not have bid otherwise.Lancashire to south of Edinburgh is the journey. The weight of the item also suddenly jumped from 14kgs to 17kgs again well within their parameters they set.Not a pleasant experience

Hi William, Sorry you feel disappointed with the service you have received, to be clear we can send the footstool but the cost is far in excess of a parcel due to its overall size, just to explain a little further, yes you are right that the item fell within the 1mtr length rule but unfortunately DPD have a overall dimensions rule which this footstool falls outside of, with it being outside these dimensions the item then drops into the freight category which mean it would be around £70 to send the item which is far in excess of your winning bid, the other option is to send the item on a pallet but again this cost would be far in excess of the winning bid, I believe you have looked in to having this item sent by your own courier and found the costing to be in the same ball park which you have told us is not cost effective, Having read over the shipping instructions, we can see how they could be interrupted as this item could be sent so we will look to amend this in the coming week to make it clearer to future bidders in order to avoid this situation happening again, we hope this makes situation a bit clearer, as requested we will cancel your bid due to the confusion and hope that if you do choose give us another chance in the future that we can change your perception.

Never again!

Never again!
1st time I bought from one of these auctions- i bid and won 3 x items ( 2 robot lawnmowers and a leaf blower)
From the description- I couldn’t tell if goods were as new customer returns or otherwise- also descriptions were really poor as I would have expected the important stuff ( such as charging cables / batteries etc. to be included (they weren’t!)
Basically spent £150 on useless junk which was all obviously faulty stuff returned by someone
Definitely wont buy from one of these auctions again
When I called to let the auction house about
the missing parts and faults- unfortunately fell on deaf ears - lesson learnt

Hi Mr Strazewski, we are regret that you feel that you haven't had the best experience with us, I would like to point out that your phone call didn't fall on deaf ears and we actually supplied you with additional batteries and a charger which you have since collected shortly before writing this review, we did also let you know that the robot lawn mowers won't work unless they are placed on grass and you said you would attempt this. As regards the description, we placed a disclaimer at the bottom of each of your lots which read as such "This lot contains unsorted raw customer returns, the products have not been checked and it is unknown whether all parts are present or whether the items are in working order. There are no guarantees of any item working as it should, no assessment has been made and no further information has been made available. Standard terms and conditions apply, all goods are sold as seen, viewing before bidding is advised" I do not feel we can make it any clearer that these are returns which may not work and may be missing parts, we regret that we couldn't rectify the situation on this occasion but we would advise that should you use our or any auction in the future that you either view or send an email with questions before bidding to avoid disappointment, Auctions can be a place to grab a great bargain but they can also unfortunately be a place where you sometimes assume items are something they are not, we wish you all the best in the future.

Terrible Experience

I was delighted to ‘win’ a Cotswold triple wardrobe that was advertised as boxed. I was contacted by Shepherds with a quote of £400 for shipping which I declined. I arranged shipping via Shipley for a fraction of the cost.

When the package arrived half of the contents were missing or severely damaged. The instructions and fittings were completely absent, as was the top of the wardrobe. Not a great experience and certainly not one to be repeated.

Rebuttal to Shepherds reply:

I acknowledge you slipped a 3 letter acronym (BER) into the auction title along side reference to a list of reputable high street retailers Admittedly, as you know most people will not see that but hey you tried….right?

Notably, in the product details there is no mention of damage to any of the products I viewed and instead you imply the products are boxed and provide RRPs. I would say these details are completely irrelevant given what you are peddling (goods damaged beyond economic repair) but then that would be naive of me wouldn’t it. It is hardly surprising some customers would be fooled into believing they are buying something they are not.

So you justify sending customers products which you acknowledge are beyond economic repair on the basis of a three letter acronym most buyers will never see. You then dangle RRPs and boxes like carrots which would suggest to most people the products they are buying are new. Instead of using acronyms why not be transparent and spell out the condition of the product in full at the individual item level. Because you do not your practices appear dishonest and one could be excused for believing they are designed to deceive with plausible deniability. Notably a significant proportion of you reviewers have the same gripe and yet the practice continues unabated.

My concern here is not for my personal loss, which was trivial. My concern is for those who fall for the same nonsense and lose money they can I’ll afford. I think this is regrettable as there are honest auctioneers on the site and it is companies that conduct their businesses like yours that give auctions a bad name.

I count myself lucky that I discovered your operating model before I spent any serious cash. I lost the price of a take away but it was worth it as I now know to give Shephard’s a wide birth. Your strategy is unsustainable and you will destroy your company’s reputation in the end. I see your Trustpilot score isn’t looking too healthy right now.

As a point of departure I would like to thank you for your reply and taking the time to educate me. Will I be back?

I think not

Hi Mr Wathall, we are sorry to hear you are unhappy with your item, we can see that the wardrobe was purchased in of BER furniture pallet auction, these items are all deemed Beyond economical repair, these auctions are aimed at upcyclers and furniture dealers who are willing to do repairs or are looking for parts, we do have furniture auctions where the items are either graded or have been checked but they do generally start at higher prices than the pallets, but as always we do encourage people to either view any lots they are interested in or to contact us via phone or email to ask questions before they bid. Regarding the delivery costs, we quoted you a price for a pallet delivery and due to the size of the wardrobe it took up 4 pallet spaces which is why it was so expensive, this is why, unlike a lot of auction houses, we give our customers the option to arrange their own delivery as they can often find a cheaper option.
We hope this explains why the item wasn't up to your expected standard and should you decide to give us another chance that you follow the advice to ask any questions before bidding to help identify the correct lots that meet your expected standard.

Im new thank you sheperds for a great experience to this auctions and have in…

I'm new to this auctions and have in the past ignored it due to the distance from my home.
3 weeks ago l checked there catalogue and saw an item I liked so went ahead registered and bid.
To my surprise I won the item at a knock down price so had to make the trip to collect.
Once there l found the collection process very easy and the icing on the cake was the staff.
Each member was so friendly and helpful and Liz was exceptional in heling me dismantal and load a heavy table in fact she did all the work.
She then told me which auctions were ready to view and so then I was hooked.
The quality of the items especially the furniture is excellent and the descriptions on the listings are very informative so I was confidant enough to make some bids without viewing and everything l won was spot on.
The young guys who bring the items out are so helpful and polite and really helped me load heavy items in fact they did all the work.
A mention to Craig thank you and please pass same on to your work mates.
Making that journey was more than worth it more so I went 3 times this week.
Thank you sheperds.

5 ⭐️ auction, 5 ⭐️ customer service! Pleasure dealing with them! ❤️

Bought a large white goods items from them. And they also helped me out with a a contact for a very reasonable priced delivery man (separate from them, they do not get paid from the delivery, I know because when I was looking for my own man with a van, the price was the same from everyone).

Unfortunately there were 2 identical items in the same auction, and they accidentally got mixed up and I got an item with some minor cosmetic damage (some scratches, but nothing major that you sometimes see in other auctions which would look like scrap) and since my delivery man didn’t exactly know which condition my item was supposed to be, I got delivered the item with few scratches. It did NOT affect the working condition of the item, and I now had it for a few months and it works absolutely brilliantly!
The item itself was never used prior and was clean and brand new inside.

I had horrible experience with different auctions in Manchester (one in Stockport, Bradbury especially, when my courier had to wait few hours for the item and he was pretty mad about it as I can understand), but Shepherd’s Auctions - literally, the best auction for sending your courier to pick something up. The person with whom I spoke told me that at their worst and busiest times couriers only wait for about 15-20 minutes. Which is really amazing, as I myself had been in the auctions where I waited 2-3 hours to receive a small item.

Also, while in the auctions everything sold “as seen” or “salvage”, they actually switch the item on and see if it does the basic functioning. So, for me it was a fridge freezer, and the description said “switches on, gets cold both in fridge and the freezer parts” (or something along those lines). Which is also something you rarely find in the auctions, in the other auctions you pretty much buying car in a bag not knowing if it’s going to purr! 😆
So, it’s great to bid on something with at least some a peace of mind! ❤️

And the last thing, the customer service and after sale was amazing! I paid my invoice by using the link, or so I thought, because it actually did not go through! And I called them the morning when the courier was supposed to pick it up just to make sure that everything is ok, and that the courier wasn’t gonna get stuck solving something or waiting for me to solve it while I’m paying the courier by the hour.
So, the customer service man re-sent me the invoice with bank details and I made a straight bank transfer and everything went through. I called them after it was delivered and explained that the wrong item was delivered, and since one had few scratches in the description and the one I won didn’t, we agreed on some % off the price as a refund, which I was very happy with as the scratched part on the side was gonna get covered with heat reflecting adhesive foil anyway and some tiny minor scratches on the front aren’t visible aren’t visible due to the many magnets and bin info page, etc.
the fridge freezer is a total no frost, and it’s just so much better than my old one that I got for free about 12 years ago from freecycle 😂

All in all - definitely the best auction house I’ve dealt with so far! Definitely recommend to look in!

P.S.: they actually gave me the percentage off as a refund back to my card rather than so many other dodgy auctions who will never give you your money back, only as a credit because it means you’d still spend it there and more! Shepherd’s auctions actually did a proper partial refund!

5 ⭐️ auction, 5 ⭐️ customer service! Pleasure dealing with them.

Ridiculous Delivery Fees And Poor Customer Service

Won an order with a value of £30. Been told I need to pay £621 delivery charge. Had similar orders from other auctions with delivery costs a fraction of that fee.

Hi Mr Connell, that is the quote from our courier Walkers transport, we only add £5 to the top of that quote for the logistical aspect , wrap etc, you are more than welcome to organise your own pallet delivery and send us the labels, we use Walkers as they offer tracking and book in a Delivery time with the recipient, the pallets you have purchased are all on oversized double space pallets which mean Walkers charge for 2 pallets spaces per pallet purchased, if you would like to arrange your own delivery then please contact the office and we will be happy to provide you with the dimensions of your pallet for you to gain prices for your own courier.

I had a pretty bad experience with…

I had a pretty bad experience with these guys. I purchased a couple of lots from them for about £35 - despite advertising delivery, it was only after the hammer that they told me that they couldn’t send these through their courier as they were prohibited items, and they required additional handling charges.

It took them 24hrs to tell me what the prohibited item was - some children’s glitter glue - and it took me a further 24 hours to find a courier that was brave enough to take such hazardous cargo. I then paid for the lots in full.

In the interim they had banned me on I-bidder and then relotted my goods in another auction. They managed to refund the money that I had paid, but the ban that they instituted has impacted my ability to bid in other auctions - which seems like quite a malicious thing to do, when I had paid for everything in good faith.

Very helpful staff

Very helpful staff, in every department, always on hand to answer all questions, answer phones very promptly,
Viewing is a great idea, if you are spending large amounts of money, and you are given ample time to carefully inspect all items, this is a very good well run auction, who genuinely care for the customers, you will not have any issues at all , if you take the time to view.

This auction is very honest, genuine and caring, all you need to do is inspect anything you wish to purchase, which the auction recommends, there should not be any negative reviews on here at all.

Rude as hell... impatient, deceitful and arrogant

Rude as hell... I used to buy pallets of goods some that were delayed for weeks and many items turned up broken yet listed as tested and working but I never really complained. However, these people always threatened to block my account for missing a few hours without paying for the invoice.
One day they gave my pallet to a delivery man without prior authorization and it went missing. They were extremely in denial about any responsibility and were very rude to me. I suffered trying to get my goods and in the end I had to contact the police and my bank to get my money back... which I did but in response these rude crooks decided to block me on i-bidder... as if that would stop my business... ha ha haaa
They said I got double compensation which is an absolute lie... in fact the wrong courier they apparently gave my pallet to denied it when I contacted them which means they had lied about that. I challenge Shepherds to show evidence that I got a double compensation... bunch of arrogant liars. They also lie that I contacted them on facebook to apologise... show us evidence... how funny. I think I should put this company on youtube because they are comedians.
Just to be clear... I don't always leave negative feedback but this auction is worth a minus point.

Hi Haroon, long time no speak, thanks for your annual review, I expect we will see this on all the other review platforms as well, as per our reply to the same review in Feb 2020, you arranged the courier and they lost your pallet not us, you have had your money back from them and ourselves so you should be happy as you have now doubled your money, you have also contacted us via Facebook messenger to apologise and ask that you be allowed to bid again so find it strange how you repeatedly continue to leave bad reviews across all the different review platforms, but I am glad to hear you are doing well as we never wish ill of anyone, may your business flourish in the difficult times and all the best in your future endeavours.

Goods advertised as brand new they all…

Goods advertised as brand new they all arrived damaged and only fit for the bin and they refused to do anything except get the company they got them off to ring me which they never did, I did point out that there terms and condition do say the supplier should describe goods accurately which they had not, so therefore they should be the ones going back to the supplier not me, they did nothing and did not even provide details, they just said the supplier brings truck loads of stuff to them so it looks like they don,t want to upset them and the buyer can do one. but hey you do need both, I won't be using them anymore and how many more have they done this to
