Disappointed with the Customer Service!
We attended the Santa’s Grotto event last week. While the grotto itself was nicely set up and Santa was good with the kids, the experience was ruined by the quality of the gift and, more importantly, how the issue was handled.
Upon opening his present, my son received a poorly made folding snakes and ladders game. Instead of the numbers ranging from 1 to 100, the board had only half the numbers repeated on both sides due to a manufacturing error. I completely understand that mistakes happen and that gifts are likely sourced externally. However, the way this issue was handled by the business was shocking.
When I called to raise the issue, I was told I’d receive an email offering a refund. After waiting a couple days without any response, I followed up with another call. I then received an abrupt email suggesting I was wrong to follow up and should have waited for them to contact me. Worse still, the email informed me that they would no longer issue a refund as they deemed the event “satisfactory.” I strongly disagree.
Try explaining to a disappointed, tearful child why Santa gave him a broken toy! While they did offer a replacement toy, this completely missed the point. It’s not about the £15 refund—I care more about how my child felt and the lack of care shown in resolving the matter. Running a business myself, I know that if I upset a child, I would do everything in my power to make it right.
Reluctantly offering a replacement toy that I had to collect from the kiosk is not acceptable. I have decided not to accept the replacement, and I certainly will not be returning. This level of customer service is appalling and not what I would expect from an event aimed at children.
