I would give it a zero but that isn’t an option I paid 4000$ for a week at a cottage listed under oceanfront.The house is nice but there is no ocean anywhere that is accessible for many miles there is beach access but no parking and too far for the people in my party to walk .My son who is a paraplegic can’t even enter the house it is not accessible to anyone with a mobility issue. I talked to an agent about my concerns she really didn’t care no refunds or reassign of properties. Therefore my family vacation was ruined because my family can’t access the property.I will never rent from them again and am investigating the possibility of a law suit A little concern from the realty company might have helped me deal with the issue be careful what you rent but there is no beach here accessible to my family and this property isn’t oceanfront Oceanside it’s no ocean

The worst ever company to deal with. They double booked the house we rented months earlier and promptly cancelled our reservation 6 weeks before our vacation. The owner, Ken, his wife, Laura lied repeatedly and dragged their feet issuing a refund. They offered to split our group of 14 (one being handicapped) with two smaller, much less desirable homes with no handicap access. They told us to find a comparable home, which we did, then reneged on covering the difference in price, leaving us holding the bag. If you want a reputable company to deal with, go with Carolina Designs. They have bailed other families out of the shortcomings and disappointments from Shoreline OBX.

A Stark Contrast to Their Own Promises !!

My parents rented this property for our long-awaited family reunion — 14 of us, including relatives who flew in from Hawaii. We were excited to spend the week together in what looked like a beautiful and spacious home, but the experience was unfortunately full of red flags — from safety concerns to management’s dismissive response.

Serious Safety & Cleanliness Concerns:
• The deck had multiple exposed nails, which caused injuries — including a cut foot.
• The pool gate slammed shut with extreme force. It actually struck my young niece, leaving her hurt and shaken.
• The outdoor bathroom was dirty and unusable from the start.
• There were visible roaches in the home when we arrived.
• The outdoor shower, which was advertised as a feature, was filthy and completely unusable.

Disruptive Conditions That Weren’t Disclosed:
• Construction was happening on both sides of the house all week, bringing loud noise and disruption every day.
• We were never informed about this in advance, even though the reservation had been made months prior.

Unacceptable Response from Management:

When we shared these issues, the president of the management company responded with zero accountability. Rather than showing any concern, he told us we should’ve reported safety hazards like protruding nails during our vacation. After we left, their technician confirmed that eight nails needed to be repaired — validating our concerns.

Instead of offering any resolution, the president accused us of “extortion tactics,” which was insulting and unprofessional considering the legitimate issues we raised.

A Stark Contrast to Their Own Promises:

What made it even more frustrating is how the company promotes itself. Their website claims:
“Experience the Shoreline Difference and see why we are rated #1 in Guest Satisfaction! As our guest, you are our family and will be treated to the best in hospitality!”

That was far from our experience. We were treated more like an inconvenience than “family,” and safety clearly wasn’t a priority.

Bottom Line:
For over $6,500, we expected a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. What we got was a property with hazards, misrepresented amenities, and a management team unwilling to take responsibility. I would not recommend this rental — or this company — to anyone looking for a reliable or professional vacation experience

BEWARE these folks vacation rental slum-dogs. Our rental had unsafe loose railings on all floors and hundreds of loose nails, screws, rusted nails all amongst the outside of the property on grass, in garage, around pool. After complaining they sent a maintenance person out who pretended to care, pick up 3 screws and leave. They only provided a old charcoal grill with no tools or clean up utensils. Massive fire hazard. Even though the house next door burned down they seem not to care. They tried to charge us extra fees for things that were already like we found them when we arrived!! Great people to work with. The house was very nice and well appointed. My wife and I are considering moving to the OBX and wanted to spend some time off season. Shoreline OBX worked with us to find a house for a month long stay. We have been coming to the OBX for 20+ years. I would definitely recommend Shoreline OBX!

As owners, and not being on premise for the rental season, we depend MIGHTILY on Shoreline OBX to be our eyes and ears in keeping our home up and running efficiently, and safe.We have been with them for 15 years, and they have done a terrific job in letting us know when something needs to be repaired, or if something minor, taking care of it themselves without us having to worry about it! Cleaning is always a tough job, to find reliable and efficient help, and Shoreline has done very well in this area also. As long as our renters are Happy so are we! We appreciate their efforts, in this demanding and competitive market. Great job, Thank you!!!

As a new Rental property owner we had a wonderful experience with Jennifer and her staff. They made the decision to go with Shoreline OBX very easy. We did not get the same level of comfort or customer service with any rental company. We look forward to our working relationship with Shoreline.

Love this house it is beautifully decorated, well stocked with all we needed for a comfortable & relaxing vacation. House is easily accessible to the beach & has access to a great neighborhood pool! Fun vacation, we will definitely do this again!

As older resort home-owners, my husband and i are most appreciative of the service/help we have received through the years that we have been with Shoreline. My husband is no longer able to do the maintenance, etc,. he once did, so we depend on Shoreline even more than we used to. Thank goodness they have been more than able to do the job!

What a wonderful experience as well as a fantastic maintenance service for the one problem we experienced.

The stay was just what my wife, myself and our dog needed to recover from a stressful year.

The house wasn't cleaned the best and we had to wait for the cleaning crew to finish after 4pm, which was our check in time. They showed up at about 4 to clean... That was the only negative.

My family had a wonderful time at Angler's Inn. It was exactly as advertised! I would definitely rent this property again!
