I have had shudder for a while but…

I have had shudder for a while but theirs not alot of good things to watch. Also need movies what are down as shudder are not realised on shudder at release date. Clown in a cornfield is shudder but not on shudder. Also desert fiends is a shudder movie from 2024 and is not on shudder in 2025. Why? The shudder trailers what look good are never on shudder app

They are just scammers

They are just scammers. I even went to my bank to get it sorted, they did get it sorted out on my iPad, they wrote all the instructions on paper, just to make sure that it will work.
When I got home, frustrating to find ,that I was unable to log in. whatever password or email that was used message come up, that email or password, has been used.
so that is money wasted for a years subscription.
Support is full of Crap.

I like Shudder... but you need a Like button!

I quite like Shudder. I'm often in the mood for JUST horror movies and series. Not ALL their content is good, but other streaming services have THEIR duds too.
That all being said... Shudder NEEDS to add a Like button, so at least they're getting SOME feedback from their customers, so they can a) Thin out the amount of garbage content, and b) help them in their marketing to their customers, like recommending things each customer may like. Other streamers manage to do this quite successfully... so please Shudder LEARN FROM THEM! Up your game and at least add a Like button to your content!

Pirate content instead.

Unwatchable, pile of w*nk. For multiple consecutive days on end, Shudder has failed to load my next episode beyond 12 seconds. In fact, the camera shot it freezes upon is utterly ingrained into my memory, with the drag artist Abhora staring eerily into my soul. I expect to see their gaze in my next blip of sleep paralysis. (Said lovingly, as my qualms are not with them.)
I initially purchased a subscription to Shudder to watch the Dragula catalogue, in chronological order. I made it to Titans, with some ongoing technical issues mind you, but nothing that made the content entirely inaccessible. I am on a brand-new laptop, I've cleared my cache and all browsing data. Yet all attempts are failing, and I'm irate as a result.
I love drag, I love this art form and particularly Dragula for its grit, and pillars of principle (Drag, Horror, Filth, Glamour). As much as I'd like to endorse the series, I will now have to pirate it. To anybody contemplating a possible Shudder subscription, I implore you to fish on the web for a freebie. Any alternate option. Its streaming is a hot pile of sh*t.

Charged after I cancelled, will not pay it back

I signed up for a year subscription in 2020 and cancelled soon after due to a terrible film selection, that was rarely updated and mostly homemade rubbish. They kept taking my subscription money after I cancelled, and now refuse to pay it back.

I even signed in after cancelling and it said "you need a membership to watch this content", so I did not even have access to the content while I was paying.

I had a promo code, they still charged full price

I had a promo code, they still charged full price.

I've tried Shudder before, and while I haven't always been happy with the selection I thought I'd give it another go because I had a promo code for money off a year's membership.

I entered the code, it was accepted, it showed me the updated (correct) price, but when it came to charging me card they took the full normal price, without the discount.

Too many bad experiences for it to be an accident.

I tried contacting customer services through both email and social media with no replies and eventually had to go through my credit card company to get the overcharge refunded.

Poor service…

Poor amount of choice to make a streaming service, and it's functionality is really poor. On top of that they charge you for "no ads" and then every single thing has an ad in the beginning. Just something I wouldn't recommend

The worst streaming service I have ever…

The worst streaming service I have ever come across. First of all streaming buffers every couple of minutes, when reported was asked to restart computer, update browsers which aren't the issues. The issue is Shudder can't afford offering better quality streaming service which is as per the standard other streaming service providers follow. Apart from that many of the popular horror movies are missing.

I'd been a Shudder member since 2019

I'd been a Shudder member since 2019. Used the same email for those five years, but every time I didn't long in for a few weeks, my account would suddenly "account not found". Id have to go for a back and forth with their customer service, saying they don't have my email on file. Meanwhile, Im looking back at the history of getting email from Shudder - like, from last week.
They would always ask for my payment history, which Id give them, and then they would wait another week to activate my account. All of my saves, and review, and comments would be in the account they said I didn't have when I logged in. Id only know it was live again if I per chance decided to try and log in again. They never told me it was active. So about every year that would shave about a month off my ability to access their service, and they NEVER refund me.
It's happening now. I haven't logged in for a month and suddenly they can't find my account. An account that I just confirmed to them about 4 months ago was working. Im so glad I ended my service. But they STILL are trying to charge me for it.

All the horrible customer service stuff aside, their movies are meh, and most of them you can find on other services. Their exclusives never interested me, and their search engine is terrible. Spend your money somewhere else.

Reporting to my bank for fraud!

*EDIT* I have just spoken with my bank who were really helpful. They have put a block on any future transactions from Shudder. I probably won’t get my money back but at least they won’t be able to steal anymore. Definitely speak with your bank if you too have been a victim of theft because that’s exactly what it is.

Signed up for the 7 day free trial. Decided it wasn’t for me so I cancelled on the fifth day of the trial. Just been notified by my bank that they’ve taken a payment! I have a screenshot of the cancellation so they had no right to take this money. I have emailed them but heard nothing. After looking at these reviews I’m doubtful I’ll even hear back so I’m reporting the transaction as a fraudulent one to my bank. Absolute scammers!

Very bad i thought it was going to be a…

Very bad i thought it was going to be a space just for all horror movies like Rob zombie or Halloween etc but nope just cheap rubbish with crap actors and low budget flims nothing on there that's remotely good half the stuff isn't even English the only good flim on there is (when evil lurks) but even that isn't English very disappointing they have made something that could have been great and still can if they take on all of the horror and slasher movies and add them to the app like a horror Netflix type deal

Misleading! A free trial turned into a $70+ charge. Customer service helped.

I signed up for a free trial of shudder because I wanted to watch a movie that they had. The movie was great, but i dodn’t see much on their website that I was interested in, so I tried to cancel.

To begin with, their website seems designed to make it difficult to cancel your subscription. In order to access your account/billing, you have to click on a tiny pixel in the top right of the mobile page to access a drop down.

Once you say you want to cancel they do that sleazy thing where you have to click on a tiny “i want to cancel” underneath a large “keep my subscription” button.

On the final page of cancellation they offered a free month of shudder. I figured “why not?” and accepted it.

Although it was not made clear that I would be charged by anything on any of the pages I had to navigate through to this point, I happened to check my recent transactions in my bank app and noticed a charge of $71.88 to shudder. Sneaky! I was pretty angry.

Their website does not say anything about contacting support, it only says “stalk us on” at the bottom of the page with links to their social media.

I sent a message to the company’s facebook page explaining the situation. Thankfully they responded pretty quickly. In the first response they said they were sorry for the inconvenience, that my membership would be cancelled, that I would still have access to the service until my next billing date, and that I would not be charged again.

In my initial message to them I stated that I wanted a refund, but their message made no mention of that. It was only after asking again about the refund specifically that they said I would receive one in up to 10 business days.

I am hoping that I can believe them, but this whole interaction has seemed underhanded.

Animal Cruelty being promoted

They're streaming and promoting a movie with real animal cruelty (Cannibal Holocaust). I love horror but this isn't it - it's no better than those early 2000s gore sites. Disgusting!

Also it's not worth the money. There's a small handful of notable horror movies on there but 95% of them are cheaply made films you've never heard of and the majority are not in English so you'll have to watch with subtitles.

Constant Errors and buffering

Constant Errors while playing some videos.
While playing through my edge browser movies will stop playing and then a grey box appears with an error code.
putting it through search engines showed no results that were helpful.
I had to periodically refresh the webpage while watching movies just to finish them. Sometimes that didn't even work and it would just get stuck on buffering.

It's a shame the service is so poor because there are some hidden gems available for streaming.

Subscribed to shudder 7 day free trial…

Subscribed to shudder 7 day free trial changed my mind and cancelled subscription the same day, ordered on 22nd April and after canceling Google play emailed that they had got the cancellation and the subscription would end on 29th April, checked bank today and there's a pending payment for shudder for almost £50 emailed shudder and they replied to say they had cancelled the subscription but had no record of my cancellation, I have since emailed screen shot of Google play cancellation notice no reply from shudder yet. Aviod this site at all costs.
