Stay away from these guys
Stay away from these guys. Terrible customer service.so many of these companies make it difficult to cancel auto-renew that it should be illegal without prior confirmation with customer. Yes, I did sign up originally, but I never realized it was on auto renew until a $ 29.00 charge showed up through PayPal. I contacted them immediately, explained I wasn’t using this app and could they cancel it and refund the amount that just went through. They were completely intractable, which indicates terrible concern for customer satisfaction!!!
DO NOT TRUST SIMPLE
For over a month I have been attempting to transfer my balance out of Simple to close my account. However, the transfer functionality on both their website and app are broken, so transfers aren't possible. In addition, they now claim my non-expired debit card is "retired" so I cannot use my debit card to remove funds from an ATM.
I have sent 5 support messages with zero responses. Today I called customer service, and they suggested I use cash app (which requires a functioning debit card), venmo, or paypal to transfer funds because of a "bug" in their system. This isn't a bug, it's a catastrophic failure of a banking institution in allowing customers to access their funds. I've filed a complaint with the FDIC.
They're closing and transferring accounts to BBVA, but this is wholly unacceptable and I can't imagine how many people are being impacted by this right now. Unconscionable.
Simple was an absolute fantastic…
Simple was an absolute fantastic experience for me. I got Simple about a year ago but they have been banking for much longer than that. It's shame that all good things must come to an end. This was a no stress bank with a great app that helped me manage my money and had a decent interest rate for savings. Thank you Simple, it was nice.
Ever since the new bank took over now…
Ever since the new bank took over now they are starting to close out accounts. I just got a notice that they CLOSED out mine. They need to shut do the bank that took over because ever time u get money in your account they say it is insufficient funds.
Simple has refused to help me or lift the hold on my account
A couple of days ago, I tried checking out at the store only to find the transaction wasn't going through. I tried pulling money from the ATM, transferring money, etc. I discovered a hold has been placed on my account and I have no suspicious activity whatsoever. I created a support ticket and still have not received a response 2 days later. Yesterday (about 20 hours after the hold was enacted), I finally got a live person on the phone. They told me I was ineligible for help. To be very clear, I am ineligible for help, I cannot access my money, I cannot transfer my money, customer service hangs up on me after saying I'm ineligible for help, and they've refused to tell my why I'm ineligible. This is illegal. Their contact says that anyone is free to contact them within their business hours (which I did contact within business hours). To not offer services you offer other individuals while stating that you offer those services is illegal.
For context, my account has $3,500 in it. Fortunately, I was able to stall my other invoices from being paid. If I hadn't, I'd have over $7,500 locked.
I have no pending charges except for my normal bills (a few subscriptions are automatic, that amount to less than $100/mo) and the rest of my bills I manually pay (like groceries and rent).
I am unable to pay rent. I'm unable to pay for my dogs surgery. I'm unable to buy groceries. Basically, I lost that $3,500 with no explanation and no solution.
Up until this point, I've never had a problem. In fact, any issue was almost solved within minutes. Customer service was never rude to me. I've had holds on my account before for new transactions but only that amount. These people put a hold on ALL of my money.
Do not bank with Simple.
Do not bank with Simple.
This bank is not a progressive bank, and it is not run by people that are serious about banking. They have roughly 300 employees, and do not have much of any customer support. Simple does not communicate with its customers, and as you can see from the reviews here, they seize money. Stay away from this bank.
I've been locked out of my account for…
I've been locked out of my account for a month now. I called a week ago and actually got ahold of someone. I explained my situation and he was very pleasent and updated all my information. Well it's now over a month and I am still locked out and I can't get ahold of anyone. I am always put on hold and it can go from 1-3hrs and still nobody picks up.
No Longer Simple…
I have dealt with Simple for the last 9yrs up until this point in time customer service has always been spot on with really viable vehicles for dealing with your money now for some unknown reason they have taken a low course in everything wait times for speaking with someone are super long emails go unanswered and they are now holding your hard earned money way to long to be deposited Simple has become HARD
DO NOT sign up for this online bank…
DO NOT sign up for this online bank account. Their customer service is horrendous. I am trying to close my account now and it's been 4 days and it is still not closed.
Believe the reviews
Believe the reviews. I had simple for two years and up until recent November 2020 they had excellent customer service.. Customer service is now non existent. The app now always crashes and the moble deposit NEVER work and has glitches.I rather trust my dog with my money at this point. They left me with no choice but to close my account.
Simple is not so simple
Simple is not so simple. Photo deposits constantly rejected for no reasons. Customer service just claims they are suspect and can't explain further. They also tell me to go to the issuing bank and cash it. Ha, go to another bank ... Gee thanks for the tip. I will take the advise and move accounts.
Simple is keeping my money
Simple is keeping my money, blocked my card and wont respond to my messages.
STAY AWAY FROM SIMPLE
Simple has caused many hardships
Simple has caused many hardships. Some people have become homeless, and can't access their: disability, social security, stimulus, child support payments, paychecks, unemployment benefits. Simple is ruining lives by locking and closing one bank account at a time Simple is not a bank. Simple is a mobile Application, and horrible service Simple randomly blocks account access, closes down accounts. Choose a real bank. Simple is a prepaid account Partnered with BBVA
Really liking this bank
Really liking this bank. It is confusing at first and has some growing pains but I'm really liking it. I gave it a four star cause I don't like I have to wait a half an hour to be on hold to get customer service but today I was in hold for 30 minutes and then Victor in customer service was so calm and collected as I was frantic trying to figure out how the budgetting tools and available balance worked. So far simple has been a little complicated but I think it is going to serve our family well now that he took the time to get me to understand why the page looked the way it did and understand the balances. I'd give Victor in customer service a 5 star.
One star is one too many for Simple
One star is one too many for these guys. What they call customer service SIMPLY sucks. I disputed a charge of an order from a restaurant as we didn’t receive more than half our order.
I provided screenshots from the delivery driver apologizing and stating he’d pick up the other items and deliver them. Needless to say another half hour passed and nothing.
I sent screenshots of my communication with the delivery service and restaurant to show I took every step to resolve the issue.
After more than two weeks of them asking for additional info, which I always provided I was told they can’t help as they have no process in place for something like this.
These guys are awful and I’d recommend using someone like Chime hows service is amazing.
Horrible bank that's not military…
Horrible bank that's not military friendly. They have no clue how the military works when it comes to APO/FPO/DPO addresses. They want letters from commanders, orders showing addresses, and etc for members deployed. They don't realize that's it's nearly impossible to get memorandums signed by commanders instantly and that it has to go through a long process just to get to the commander. Additionally, they don't understand that my deployed UIC's won't list the overseas location but the units home station. Complete clowns, stay away at all cost! Good app with management and employees that's clueless regarding how the military actually works. These clowns don't even accept EIP (Economic Impact Payments) that's US Treasury Checks......
No accountability or professionalism
This bank has no accountability when it comes to mistakes made. Not only did they overdraft my account by almost $20K when trying to buy a house, they lost the closing check and couldn't meet any request to receive the check at an earlier time, even when I offered to pay for the more expensive checking. You will never be able to speak to a manager. It isn't allowed for some reason, meaning that you will never speak to someone that can actually get anything done. Every response is, I will communicate this to the appropriate team. I've never dealt with a more unprofessional company that has caused more issues with any process than I have with this bank.
NOT A Budgeting Tool
Originally selected this bank as a budgeting tool via a shared account with them. Unfortunately, there was no way to assign transactions that were paid for to the expenses that we listed within our budget. The safe to spend amount always read zero no matter what the available balance actually was. Extremely complicated experience and anything BUT simple. Customer service was also extremely incompetent and negligible, the first call being for 1 hour with no solution, the second call being a half hour long and to be hung up on. I'm throwing in the towel and will not be coming back.
Excellent Bank w/ Great Website
Regarding the website, it's login is easy for customers. It has an overall clean and sleek design. The main dashboard is smart. The Safe-to-Spend feature that Simple bank offers is genius. I absolutely love it. I use it to budget all (or close to all) of my fixed/regular expenses. I also really like the graph feature. It's a great way to visually see how I have been spending my money. I don't believe the app has it. I can even see trends in each type of expense (such as shopping, or fast food) -- which is really neat. I really recommend everyone use Simple. Their Safe-to-Spend feature alone is worth changing banks for. I've been using Simple for a couple of years now and have no complaints. Customer service is great, it's easy to withdraw cash at places like Walgreens, I feel like I'm so organized now with my spending, and I can't wait to see what services and features they will offer next.
Love using this bank
Simple is my choice of bank for online banking in the United States -- they have a super simple app that does everything you'd ever need it to do for US banking and customer support through the app is painless although it can sometimes take them a little while to reply. For urgent things, you can call them 24/7 -- I wish the in-app answering time were faster so I wouldn't need to use this option, though. Also, it would be great if they'd follow the lead of some other banks who do not charge foreign transaction charges/ATM fees.
