Terrible Experience

Terrible Experience, my name is George of Golden Grove, I engaged Tarvinder Singh, of Singh's Carpentry & Constructions, to fix a leak I had in the corner of my pergola and to change several colourbond sheets to polycarb material, to allow more light and reduce heat. After the work was completed, the original corner leak remained, and many more new water ingress points (evident during periods of rain) were evident at the location where the sheets were changed over from colourbond to Polycarb. I discovered, the polycarb sheets were cut too short, which caused the new leaks. I sent video to this Contractor of the leaking roof, at the location where the sheeting had been replaced. The Contractor came to look at the issues and agreed to fix the issues at no cost. We agreed the short-cut sheeting would be replaced with full-length sheeting. We shook hands on the repairs required. After several months of delay, the Contractor came to my place to undertake the agreed repairs. The Contractors installed polycarb sheeting offcuts at the end of the sheets that had been cut too short, to stop the leaks. I advised the Contractor that this was not what was agreed and that this was unacceptable, that the sheets should be replaced properly with full-length sheets, as we agreed. The corner leak also remained unresolved. The Contractor came to my place again and we again agreed on the repairs, to be undertaken at no extra cost, which included the short-cut sheets to be replaced with full-length sheets. The Contractor said he would come back and fix these issues again, we shook hands on what was required that the repair work would be undertaken free of charge. Again, I waited several months. The Contractor undertook the repairs whilst I was away, which I happily agreed to. When I came back at the end of the day, I found that the short-cut sheets and offcuts had not been replaced, the Contractor elected to install lengths of thick timber underneath the pergola where the offcuts were located, which concealed the offcuts from view. This work was not discussed or agreed to and significantly affected the appearance of the pergola. I again raised my dissatisfaction with the Contractor, as we had agreed the sheets would be replaced with full-length sheets. I did not request the additional timber and asked for it to be removed. We shook hands on this. The Contractor said he would send someone around to remove the unauthorised timber slabs and said he would send me $300.00 for someone else to place the sheeting, requesting my bank details. (The cost to properly replace the sheeting is significantly greater than $300.00) I am very disappointed with this Contractor. Two attempts were made to rectify the issues, but the agreed solutions were not followed. Instead, alternative solutions were implemented without my consent. After posting this review, I was issued an invoice on Christmas Day 2025, for the repair work that had previously been agreed would be undertaken at no cost. I dispute this invoice. The Contractor has now refused to remove the timber slabs or replace the sheeting properly.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Singh’s Carpentry & Constructions
