Dreadful

Poor service. Afternoon tea bought by my colleagues. Stale dry bread , poor fillings didn't match the menu. No savoury treats, no eton mess and no tea or coffee offered. Staff were great at appearing invisible.
Massive pub with people at only 3 tables. Every pub we passed was heaving . S and L need to take a good look at their offerings as they are a prime example of why pubs are closing all over. Clueless staff and a chef that needed 48 hours to prepare the muck they served us. Avoid at all costs

Deeply distressing experience and no responsibility taken

I visited the Slug & Lettuce Richmond branch on 30 April for a Virgin Experience Days meal with a guest. I asked a simple question about whether it was possible to pay extra for a steak. I was first told it would be £5, then moments later told I would have to pay for the entire meal. I light‑heartedly said the policy seemed a bit silly, stupid and pedantic - not directed at anyone personally.

The duty manager immediately accused me of calling her stupid and refused to serve me at all. I did not insult her. I was polite and simply questioning the contradictory information. When I asked for her name so I could make a complaint, she refused and walked away. I attempted to take a photo only to identify her, and when I asked a female bar staff member for the manager’s name, I was dismissed and called “passive aggressive”.

The experience left me shaken, embarrassed in front of my guest, and genuinely distressed. I went there expecting a pleasant meal and instead was met with hostility and a refusal of service for no valid reason.

I raised a formal complaint through Resolver. The response from Stonegate was defensive and dismissive. My account was not acknowledged, and no responsibility was taken for how the situation was handled. A sincere apology and some honesty would have resolved this immediately, but instead the company chose to defend every action and imply wrongdoing on my part, which I strongly reject.

This was the worst customer service experience I have ever had; it left me traumatised for days. I hope the company reflects on how situations like this are handled. I would never use or recommend them after this.

Do not eat here! Pubes in the food!

Newcastle Central - Do not eat here!

We went the other day and had to wait over an hour to be served food even after booking a table!

Food turned up pretty pathetic and luke warm, but the killer was my burger had a hair/pube on the plate! I flagged it with the waitress right away who didnt really say anything but they will get me a fresh one, returned later with the exact same lukewarm burger and plate they just removed the hair/pube!

I emailed them complaining the day after and the response was terrible! Stating they were busy so waiting over an hour was fine didnt even defend the hair/pube on the plate and said i was given a fresh burger which i was not!

Shocking customer service and food from here! AVOID!

Poor all round service and food!

My partner and I shared a very poor dining experience we were given a gift to go and enjoy a dining experience. We were not expecting our experience to be as bd as the one we got. It started off when we entered the establishment and having to look for bar staff after 10mins. We thought oh they must be busy but when we went in to the bar my impression was that it was not as busy as anticipated. After being served our drinks we were simply told where our table was.

Okay we were fine with this as we are able and had enjoyed the day so far. Then the place began to get busier and the vibe was pleasant. We had our starter promptly then started to think that service was slow before we knew it an hour and a half had passed before our main arrived. We the noticed other tables were being served before us not only that their starters were served followed by their mains. At this point this had turned into a joke when we asked the waitress what was going on they snappily responded and told us that they have staff shortage.

I’m sorry this should have been translated to us and besides that how and why were other tables being served before ours? This was POOR we counted 15 dishes were served before us!

When our food arrived we were not impressed again the quality was very below standard the chicken fillet tasted like it was cooked in old oil! My burger. My chicken skewer was over cooked and dry and had little taste. The burger was tasteless I’d rather buy a burger from a burger vendor. At least I know what standard of food I’d be getting with limited wait time!

Out of 10 the best I can offer is a very GENEROUS 1! When we’re leaving the waitress then realised the below service and standard and asked if there is anything she could do. Thinking about we said no there isn’t if food was offered it would’ve been cooked in old oil and taken an hour to come out repeating the poor service that we had just received!

On a plus the only plus were the drinks deals found in the MXR. App but that was it I’m struggling to find anything else to help redeem the situation. I remember saying to my partner that I’d rather go to a Wetherspoons.

This experience was very forgettable the drive home was a long journey and part discussion was about how bad that was which could’ve spoilt our day.

The food was not very good at all

The food was not very good at all. The peas were either hard or cold. The coated chicken was over cooked which made it very difficult to cut as the topping just crumbled. The dessert wasn't very nice either, nothing impressive about it at all. We won't be going back.
I should have listened to the reviews

Slug & Lettuce Plymouth-Worst dining experience ever!

Visted today for a pre-booked afternoon tea: I don't really know where to start other than to say that this was almost certainly the worst dining experience I've every had( and I've seen quite a few summers). We were booked in for 12pm so arrived roughly 15 mins early only to find the pub closed, despite the website saying it opened at 11am. The doors opened at 12 on the dot. After a brief wait we were shown to our table, the server said she would organise our food and offered us a drink, all good. Unfortunately, this was the end of the good. We waited and waited and... waited. Half an hour went by and no sign of our food but worse, no contact from the staff despite them walking past us multiple times. Not a single "sorry for the delay, would you like another drink", nothing. Eventually I went to bar to enquire on the progress. Ten minutes later the food arrived. I'd like to say it was worth the wait, I'd like to, but that would be a lie. Soggy bread, tasteless sandwiches. We'd requested a no cheese option for one of us, so got a squashed tomato and lettuce sandwich, classy. We were looking forward to the Eton mess shots, theses turned out to be nothing more than cream in a shot glass with a strawberry dunked in. Not once did anyone check if we wanted another drink or even speak to us. We left, barely 20 mins after the food arrived leaving most of what had been served up, it was that bad.
Some places have bad food, some have bad service, but it's a real skill to be able to combine both, seemingly without trying. Such a shame as we were really looking forward to this but were properly disappointed. On the evidence of our visit the only thing I would say to someone looking to dine here... DON'T DO IT!

Slug and Lettuce Nottingham Cornerhouse

My daughter booked a table for her and a friend. They are both under 18 so they ensured they booked early so they would leave by 8pm.
Below is taken from the website when you attempt to book a table...
**Company Booking Policy:
Under 18s are allowed in the venue until 20:00. After this time, all persons under 18 will need to leave the premises**
They booked at 18:15. Upon arrival they were asked for ID, my daughter explained she had followed the company policy by booking early.
Initially the doorman refused entry, my daughter explained the website terms so they went to ask a manager.
The manager backed the decision to refuse entry.
So, now a 16 & 17 year old, on a dark rainy night are forced to walk around a busy city centre to find another venue that will have the space and the policy suitable for them to eat.
Thankfully they managed that.
Understandably my wife & I were really upset, we tried to call but every option ended with a recorded message.
I then logged my concerns on the company website, the automated reply states that someone will be in touch within 72 hours. Nothing.
I logged another ticket a few days later and once again...nothing.
Extremely poor, both on the day and the lack of care to follow up on basic customer service. Why have guidelines on the website if they can't follow them?

El was a credit I the staff

El was absolutely wonderful! She always enticed we were catered to, ensured all our needs were met and she is truly a credit to the company and should be very proud of the level of service she showed to myself and my partner, amongst other customers, was truly amazing. I had the best time at the slog and lettuce and again, thank you very much to El for ensuring we had the best time.

Slug and Lettuce in Bath.

Four of us went to the Slug and Lettuce in Bath for my daughter’s 18th birthday meal. The food and drink had to be ordered at the bar, this was not an easy process because lots of people were just propping up the bar. Additionally, the music was so loud that the ordering process took a long time as both the staff member and myself struggled to hear each other.

When the food arrived, all the meals were extremely disappointing, my fish must have been a goldfish and the chips were a few French fries. My wife’s smothered chicken had no cheese and bacon as per the menu.

We decided to leave without ordering any sweets as the choices were awful, everything included salt, even the ice cream.

The choice of beers was abysmal, Peroni or Morretti. There are plenty of great British beers that they could sell. Their business model seems to be selling expensive cocktails, good for them but bad for your pocket.

We will never return to this place.

My advice is to buy some M&S food and stay at home; you will save a fortune and be able to have a conversation without loud music.

So don’t book a slug deal of £24 unless you read part A section 5.2 because the will take your cash even though it’s valid
I personally am taking this to watchdog as they have shown an interest in this case

Worst experience ever, don’t bother!

Worst experience ever. We were going to see an event at the O2 arena so I booked a table in plenty of time, time slot of 12:30 - 2. What I didn’t bargain for was such poor service. We waited an hour and twenty for our food which was over cooked and like chewing on card board. Every time I asked how long, it was ten minutes away! It wasn’t even that busy, they must have been butchering the cow and waiting for the potatoes to finish growing !

Next time I’ll be getting a meal deal from Sainsbury’s round the corner!

Shocking service. Relatively empty bar with 3 bar staff incapable of managing the floor. Until they up their game, in terms of every aspect of service (drink/food service, table clearance, billing) I would not recommend to anyone.
