While we don't verify specific claims because reviewers' opinions are their own, we may label reviews as "Verified" when we can confirm a business interaction took place. Read more

This company scammed me

This company scammed me. Beware. I got a "free photoshoot" email from Uber, clicked on the link, which brought me to Smartshoot's website. I typed in my CC details (I assumed in case I wanted extra editing on the photos or something) and then they ended up charging me $125 after the shoot for no reason.

Hours on the phone with the company, and they won't do anything about it. They offer no explanation. So bizarre. Hopefully you've done your research if you're looking on here. Do not use them. Happy to answer more questions about this. You can find me by googling my name.

I've been doing some food photo shoots…

I've been doing some food photo shoots through SmartShoot. The rate is low, but the shoots are fairly easy and don't take very long, so it would be a nice side gig... if SmartShoot paid its freelancers. I was supposed be paid two weeks ago, actually got in touch with someone in accounting who told me to update my tax information. That person told me then that he had resolved the issues and paid out all of the shoots I had pending, including ones that were scheduled for payout in the next few weeks (four in total).
Now over a week later, I have STILL not been paid, and so far this week I have been almost entirely unsuccessful in getting in touch with anyone; no one from accounting has replied for days, no one appears to exist that customer service number since no one is ever available that number, and no one else from the company is responding to inquiries, let alone providing any support as far as I can tell.

Been working with them for almost a…

Been working with them for almost a year (previously I was working with Meero). Due to the nature of online platforms like their one, communications gets laggy between the company, their clients (usually Uber Eats as I do food photography) and us photographers so sometimes I have to double check with the restaurant owners, but the company's support team is reachable and communication feels humane (compared to Meero). My pay is not bad, although there is no way telling how frequently I am given assignments.
