SNICKERDOODLES BAKERY AND COFFEEHOUSE

SNICKERDOODLES came highly recommended to me and since I was tasked to provide a sheet cake for a very special event I gave them a try. To my disappointment the moment I walked into the establishment on 903 South Main Street Hampstead MD I felt out of place. I was standing waiting for service like I had egg on my face. I probably should have left and this UGLY story would not have to be told. The staff was clearly shaken since my appearance was not what they are used to in the area. Staff was reluctant to serve me as I waited patiently until finally one brave soul by the name of Mia (at least that the name she gave) approached the counter and asked what can they do for me. I inquired about a sheet cake and Mia offered to give me the email to the baker which I accepted. Because of the nervousness of Mia something made me check the email. Guess what it was incorrect. She nervously apologized and went to the back of the store to retrieve a new email address. It was clear my service was not wanted at the store. Again that was probably the time for me to exit I probably could have left with my dignity, However, I ordered the cakes and paid $234.98 in full for two cakes. I was instructed to send a picture and the inscription I wanted on the cakes. On August 6,2024 I humbly and gracefully sent a thank you for accepting my order. My first few emails went unanswered. Finally on August 22,2024 an acknowledgement came from Ashley assuring me all was well and the order would be ready for pick up on August 26,2024. Again, the establishment has my money in full. When I arrived for pick up a young man was at the counter and excused himself stating I will be right back. Guess what that’s right “he never returned to the counter” as if the sight of my husband and I disgusted him. He sent another flustered but brave while trying to be polite young man to service whatever we had the nerve to walk into this establishment for. He all but apologized for his rudely abrupt partner. Might I pause to say although we are African American our cash was very green. GREEN, the color of what makes the whole United States of America run and what every citizen works very hard for. Success of a business has no COLOR. Success comes from welcoming people that can make your business grow and your reputation preceded you. Your store was spread by word of mouth the best advertisement any business can hope for. Finally SNICKERDOODLES falls way below the scale. I could not present this embarrassment to my friends for their very special sacred event. I forwarded pictures of what this establishment sent me away with. I double checked with the baker prior to pick up. The wording was “New World Translation” the wording was deliberate and maliciously written shabbily wrong. The writing was amateur and unprofessional it was literally an embarrassment. I feel the owners need to train their staff to be more reasonable and accepting of diversity and not demean anyone because of their race, creed, religion or otherwise. These cakes are representative of your business. If you think these cakes are truly representative of your establishment then I should be ashamed for calling you to task. BUYERS BEWARE Disappointed in Maryland
