The system hasn't worked, they have replaced battery 1 yr in, fixed system twice & promised to check if needed more panels all before going bust & not doing anything. I showed its costing money not saving F all yet they are still difficult. Im at stage of ripping system out & they can take it.
Terrible regret
Horribly slow and unhelpful with everything when we went to sell our house. They are also still charging us even after paying off everything and transferring ownership to the buyer. They are very disorganized. The Tesla buyout has made things there chaotic and disorganized. Would not recommend.
Problem solve
I just talked with one guy his name is Sachin Khanna and I found he is very friendly and very knowledgeable and he did solve my problem very quick. Very happy. Thanks Sachin
They make it impossible to contact them.
They make it so hard and impossible to reach out to them. The website takes you in circles and no contact number. Your screwed with this company.

Worst Customer service ever and Deceit and Lies are the standard
The sales person flat out lied presenting Solar City so please read contract completely before signing. Once you have any kind of issue resolving it is extremely difficult and in most cases costly. The simplest of projects like removing a few panels to get a roof repair has currently taken over a month with no end in sight. Call waiting times are way too long if you get through at all. You do not want a 20 year commitment to Tesla Solar City and there is no savings advantage I've seen. Truly disappointed and disgusted with this company.
SolarCity/Tesla Solar Panels are Inconsistent and Ineffective at Best
Bought a house with Solar City panels. Nothing but a negative experience. The panels are very flaky. They'll work for a week or so and then out of nowhere stop working. Then a few days to a week later, with zero intervention on my part, the panels just start working again.
Getting support from Solar City/Tesla has been a nightmare. Good luck finding the phone number on their website. (It's 877-961-7652 btw). When you do call, make sure you don't have any plans as the wait times are routinely over 30 minutes to even speak with someone who likely will be in an outsourced country and if so, will do nothing but read a script at you.
There are 13 years left in this lease, sadly, and Tesla wants $17k to buy it out. That's gonna be a no from me given how ineffective these panels and/or inverter are.

Meter box left in an absolute mess; solar meter an absolute mess of wiring; being told our meter box is the problem but it's not - trying to shift the blame for their incompetence onto the consumer. Electricians, sent to fix the many issues, horrified at how bad the installation is. Avoid this company at all cost!
Great company
Great company. I have had my panels for over 3 years. Great communication when my system wasn't working well they didn't charge me also while it was down. The savings are fantastic and add my ev into the equation is an absolute no brainer..
Rubbish
Rubbish, NOT WORTH HAVING. At the beginning you get the support and power saving. As you become an older customer, you get treated as 'SH.T.' NO SAVING AT ALL.
Not worth having.
Completely awful
Completely awful, these people are completely incompetent and can’t handle the most basic of tasks.
Get very aggressive when things don’t go their way too, I sold a house and changed the contract to the new owner (which was a nightmare nearly resulting in my power getting cut off multiple times) i don’t want their sub par services at my new property so have been hounded with aggressive emails and calls.
I can’t state this enough, THIS IS AN INCOMPETENT SMALL COMPANY, BUY YOUR OWN PANELS INSTEAD.
Absolutely terrible service
Absolutely terrible service, Hard to get hold off. Any requests even slightly out of the ordinary results in months of silence. All I wanted was the proposed solar panel layout for my roof so I could submit to the council for heritage home approval. I was happy to
Pay for that ! (Took a month for them to reply) . This has been going on for over a year now. Currently paying for the panels but can’t use them . Extremely hard to get hold of anyone with any knowledge .I was thinking of going to their offices and sitting at reception until someone with some skill in installation can come and speak to me.. that’s got to be faster than their 0800 service! Very very disappointing and extremely frustrating .
We cannot get anyone from Solar City to…
We cannot get anyone from Solar City to remove the panels from our roof in order to fix a hole in our roof. Somehow squirrels burrowed under the panels in the garage and there is a hole in the roof from their nest. We need the panels to be removed to fix the roof, but cannot get anyone to return our call or emails. It's terribly frustrating.
Worst customer service
Worst customer service, some uneducated staff at call centre named Aseem. I said am not happy with the service, can i talk to someone so i can get rid of the panels and the solar system, That "A H" put me on hold for more than 20 minutes and he came back and said manager is busy and will call me back. that call never came from the manager. Please readers don't fall in their trap. Worst service. Am putting my house for sale and will tell the new owner not to take over the solar panel offer.
Approach with Caution
Their tactics and support have been tantamount to fraud. Promise a system that provides full monitoring and control and deliver something that provides minimal historic information and ZERO control, maybe that is why they changed their name to SolarZero.
Oh, we haven’t provided you with what we promised so will take 50% off your monthly lease change. Hold it, if you had been honest I would not have signed up in the first place.
The data for them to provide a top notch monitoring system (like many of their opposition) is there. They have sent me a CSV with all the required data down to a granularity of about 5 minutes dating back as long as you want.
They are just too lazy to provide their customers with some degree of service.
As for control – well there is none.
It is interesting that when logging on here for SOLARCIY.CO.NZ there have only been 3 reviews (2 positive) but if one looks at SOLARCITY.COM of the 31 reviews for New Zealand back to the start of 2019.
21 of them are 1 star with expressions of horrific, scam, dodgy etc. Only 7 reviews gave 5 stars and one of these hadn’t even signed up!!!
Definite dodgy selling techniques
Read everyone else's feedback. If it sounds too good to be true then it is too good to be true.
They compare your old price including GST against theirs without GST to make it look better.
They ask for your driving licence number and date of birth before even entering into any agreement (sure sign of something suspicious) and, worst of all, they lie about the deal. I was told that if I moved there would be nothing to pay AT ALL, the T&C's clearly state that if you move before the 20 years are up that you are liable for the difference.
We have had several systems with…
We have had several systems with solaracity and every one has been filled with Problems, including delays, No callbacks and charging for services we did not receive. The most simple requests seem to be an impossible ask for them. I am surprised that they are still in business. -10 would be my rating!!!
