I was diagnosed with sleep apnoea around six years ago following a home sleep study, which showed I was waking approximately 19 times per hour. At the time, I was in my late thirties and was presented with the usual treatment options, including CPAP therapy.
Whilst I appreciate that CPAP works very well for many people, I struggled with the idea of wearing a mask every night and wanted to explore alternatives. After discussing my options with my dentist, I decided to proceed with a Somnowell oral appliance.
That decision has genuinely changed my life.
I have now been using my Somnowell device for four years, and from the very first night I noticed a significant improvement in my sleep quality. The device is comfortable to wear, easy to maintain, and quickly became part of my nightly routine.
Most importantly, the benefits have been long-lasting. I wake feeling more refreshed, my sleep quality is dramatically better, and both I and my husband have noticed the difference. It has allowed me to manage my sleep apnoea without the need for CPAP and has given me a solution that fits easily into everyday life.
What impresses me most is that the improvement hasn’t faded over time. Four years later, I continue to use the device every night and remain just as grateful for it as when I first received it.
I know that every patient is different and no single treatment is right for everyone, but for me the Somnowell appliance has been truly life-changing. If you’re considering alternatives to CPAP and have been advised that an oral appliance may be suitable, my experience has been overwhelmingly positive.
Thank you to the team behind Somnowell for creating a product that has had such a profound impact on my health, sleep, and overall quality of life.

This is a fabulous little company that has really delivered on what it said it would....namely snoring reduction!
The expereince was seamless. The initial interactions with customer service (Sam and Humera) and then the appointment with Dr Iffath Ahmed was brilliant. The location at the UNTIL clinic in Marylebone worked well with my regular travel into London.
I went with Dr Ahmed's clinic because of her training by and support from the inventor, Professor Simon Ash.
The device has delivered massive snoring reduction and my scores are now insignificant. The device is slimline, comfortable and from what i'm told, a device for life.....i'm happier, feel full of life and my sleeping partner is also happier, so money well spent!

I've had my Somnowell device for almost 2 months now at it has drastically reduced my snoring. It has dropped the volume considerably, and also the length of time I snore is reduced to about a third of that before. I feels comfortable once in my mouth and is easy to keep clean.

Platinum providing practice- Practice Administrator feedback. Patients often come back saying their sleep has massively improved and snoring has either stopped or reduced a lot. They report that it’s discreet and much more comfortable than the bulky plastic ones. Partners are sleeping better too which says a lot! It’s one of the most effective solutions we’ve offered for sleep and snoring at the practice.

The device costs an absolute bomb and is heralded as a lomg term solution. My experience is four years in it is already ill fitting and no longer working. I cannot afford to replace it and my dentist won't even discuss without a fee. Get a cheaper solution you can afford to replace. You will end up doing that anyway.

If you’re looking for a treatment that can alleviate your snoring and help reduce the symptoms of Sleep apnoea then the Somnowell mouth guard really should be high up on your list of things to consider. I was diagnosed with Obstructive sleep apnoea more than 12 months ago after my wife noticed that I was having long pauses when sleeping. I had put my daytime tiredness down to my busy job as a doctor so it was imperative that I found something that would help me to manage my sleep apnoea as it was really affecting my quality of life and I was also concerned about the long term health effects that sleep apnoea can bring. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to tolerate the CPAP machine and started to research what other options might be out there which is when I came across the Somnowell device. After a quick Q&A session with my local dentist who is an accredited Somnowell practitioner I decided to take the plunge and purchase the mouth guard and I haven’t regretted my decision. The process for customising the mouth guard was quick and painless and the lab was able to supply the device within a 2-3 weeks. My concerns about whether I would be able to sleep with device were unfounded as it was comfortable and light weight and therefore using it before going to bed has become part of my routine.
I’ve also been impressed with the aftercare as I’ve had a couple of telephone consultations since I started using the mouth guard and my dental team have been really keen to ensure that the device is working for me and the benefits have been instantaneous. My wife now sleeps a lot better as my snoring has virtually disappeared and I’m no longer having the long pauses during sleep so I wake up feeling more refreshed and no longer falling asleep in the afternoons. I’ve been impressed at how robust the device is and expect that it will last for many years. I think if you’re hesitating about whether to go ahead with getting a Somnowell mouthguard you really don’t need to worry. The Somnowell mouth guard has delivered in spades for me and has really helped improve my quality of life. Thank you Somnowell.

Warning to all - I spent ages asking questions and exchanging emails/calls about this device - it seems too good to be true!
It isnt - the issue is that you'll pay £1000 to £1500 for the perfectly moulded device, but should you happen to need a crown, veneer, lose a tooth, chip a tooth, the next day - there is no option to have the design changed. Its another £1000-£1500 for a completely new device.
No-one can justify that. My advice - go with the cheaper dentist fitted options that cost 25% of the price

I have been using my Somnowell for many years. It is an excellent device that has lasted very well. It has just been serviced by Somnowell and has come back looking like new and I expect it to last for many more years to come.

My sleep apnea specialist informed me of the Sonmowell mandibular device available. I found their website extremely factful and user friendly. I was contacted by one of their staff in due course and I was very pleased with their knowledge of the product as well as their professional conduct. In short, they supplied me with the contact details of a qualified and approved Somnowell Dentist, closest to my home. All I had to do basically was to turn up for my appointment! The service of the Dentist was as impressive as what I received from the Somnowell staff and after a very thorough examining of my mouth which included scanning, measuring and videoing, my device was ordered. I took reception of my device on the 14th of March 2024 and my life improved ever since!
From the first night, I slept better and longer, and my wife confirms very happily, that she has not heard me once snoring, or gasping for air!
I am monitoring my sleeping pattern every night with my smart watch and my deep sleep compared to my light sleep, has improved between 40% and 50%.
I am truly satisfied with my Somnowell mandibular device, and I will recommend this to any person who wants to improve the quality of their sleep!
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Best regards, Jan.

I have been using a Somnowell for over ten years, and it’s the best thing, it really works. I only realised how much of a difference when I broke my device a few days ago and that next night my wife got no sleep and was looking exhausted the next day. And so I was banished to the spare room. Desperate to get things back to normal I contacted Somnowell using the online WhatsApp from their website. OMG their Customer Service was awesome. Day one, review through photos the breakage, and the device sent recorded delivery to their lab. Day two, a full review first thing, recommendation to repair, completed SAME DAY, and back with me on day three…. And out of the spare room. THANK YOU SO MUCH Somnowell, your Customer Service is incredible.

I tried a few basic mouth guards to try and help my snoring, mild sleep apnea, and teeth grinding but couldn't keep them in for more than a couple of hours. The Somnowell device was completely different, it took a few days to get used to and now I barely notice it. It is a great solution to a range of issues and well worth the cost.

Somnowell has changed my life, never did I think that I would be able to stick to a routine. Not only are my airways clearer at night, keeping my partner much happier, I awake feeling more refreshed. The process of wearing it at night is also a good trigger to tell the body to go to sleep!
If you’re nervous, don’t be. Just do it. I’ve worn it every day for months now without fail and won’t look back. P,S it also helps with bruxism!

It's fair to say that the Somnowell Chrome has been transformational! I was desperate, my wife couldn't sleep because of my snoring; I couldn't sleep for her waking me up. At times one of us would go to the spare room to sleep.
The device itself is easy to use/insert and takes a little getting used to - but those trials are well worth the effort, the Pro's outweigh the Con's 10-1. It works best when I am sleeping on my side; when on my back I still snore, but at nowhere near the volume or frequency of the past. Most nights I don't notice the device and will now sleep right through. There are some nights where for whatever reason I am too aware of the device and feel I need to take it out (mostly if I've eaten late or am dehydrated) but these are becoming fewer and farther between.
I've become something of an evangelist for the benefits of the device and would recommend to anybody that suffers from snoring (either their own or their partner's) that they give it due consideration - and to anybody that struggles with a device one purchased to persevere. It has changed my sleeping life for the better and this has had a positive effect upon my waking life. My Wife is pretty happy too!

I am using Somnwell since march 2023.
TL:DR If it would break I would save money and buy it again.
My Experience:
I didn't need much selling as I knew this is going to work because I've tried cheap alternatives.
The cheap implements worked but were uncomfortable and stopped working either due to deformation over time or I stopped using due to no mold/imperfect mold and I felt these were moving my teeth around. Plastic leeching is also a worry with these.
No mold is perfect so teeth might still move a little with Somnwell but it's negligible.
After I started using Somnwell one I stopped getting regular headaches. I'm more productive and aware/less sleepy during the day and it's a big difference. I assume most people that snore just like me accept the state of their awareness as normal if it's below critical threshold like falling asleep driving and so on.
My girlfriend is also happier sleeping in the same bed now.
Sleeping with it wasn't a problem to me as I got used to the cheap ones that were very uncomfortable. If you're sure that the tongue is causing the snoring I'm confident it will help.

The Somnowell device has served me extremely well. As long as I haven't been drinking too much the device stops my snoring. I wear a Garmin watch which gives me a sleep score out of 100. I regularly get in the high ninety percent scores. My wife is a happier person as she is disturbed much less with my snoring.
I have been using the device for over five years. It continues to perform.

This has changed my life & my Husbands too.
I was sceptical about this anti-snoring device working having spent many sleepless nights listening to my Husband’s snoring or having to sleep in a separate room. I used to dread holidays as nowhere else to go to escape it.
The first wearing it he still snored and I was devastated. But a little adjusting of the device and the second night not a single peep out of him.
THIS PRODUCT WORKS!!!
It is expensive but it is so worth very Penny. Not only am I now getting a good nights sleep my Husband is too. We didn’t realise how much his snoring was affecting his sleep too.
Wish we had found out sooner. If you a considering this device don’t hesitate a moment longer.

This is my second review on the Somnowell device. I have decided to write this as I have been an owner of the device for some time now. I experienced an issue with it earlier on this year and went back to see Brian Clark and the team in Bayswater Dental to get it rectified. I was without the device for a while and straight away my snoring went back to a level of > 150 snore score on the snore lab. I have now had the device back and my snore score is in single digits.
Having a great nights sleep has given me so much more energy as well as enabling me to sleep in the same room as my wife.
I am so grateful for this device and for the team at Bayswater Dental for looking after me
I seriously can not recommend this enough

What can I say..... If you snore and want to keep your partner happy, then invest in the Somnowell device. Its pricey but worth every penny. I can’t recommend the device enough. Most dentists that offer the device allow you to pay for it over 12 months. Its discreet, not cumbersome and you can drink with it in and also talk. I used to get restless sleep as my snoring kept me and my partner awake. Not now as I purrrrrr instead of shaking the house. Do as I did and try a cheap option to see if the solution works for you. The cheap options from other brands do work but are usually plastic and wear out really easy and smell after long use and are very cumbersome in your mouth. The Somnowell device is moulded to your mouth and teeth and fits like a glove. Yes, you need to get used to having a brace inside your mouth at night, but you get used to it as you can’t really tell it’s there when your asleep. 10 out of 10 and they guarantee the device for 5 years. If you look after the device it should last you a lifetime. Take the plunge and change your life as I did.

Very disappointed and out of pocket with an expensive device I cannot use.
Bought the Somnowell device in the hope it would improve my snoring. Followed all instructions and persevered with it, despite finding it uncomfortable. It was fitted very tightly onto my back molars. The worse aspect was the very unpleasant metallic taste and discomfort each morning.
At a subsequent routine dental check-up my regular dentist shortly afterwards he reported that the device was damaging my teeth, so I stopped using it. He said that bruxism (grinding teeth) at night would make the device unsuitable for me. I reported this back to the dental practitioner who supplied the device and his response was negative and unhelpful. If this had been pointed out as a contra during my initial consultation I would not have proceeded with the expensive purchase.
To monitor the effectiveness I recorded my sleep in an App. Sadly there was no improvement.
Am only reviewing now as I regularly receive unwanted marketing and sales texts (unsubscribe doesn’t work) which just adds insult to injury.
Just a bad and expensive experience. Waste of money.

I was diagnosed with bad sleep apnea and spent the days feeling like a zombe due to lack of sleep. I was given a Cpap machine and I hated it, infact wearing the mask made me worse. I read about the Somnwell device's online. After a phone call to Somnwell I made an appointment with an approved dentist and they made a mould of my mouth which they sent to the Somnwell laboratory for them to make my device, to cut a long story short I was discharged from the hospital and never looked back. I now get a goodnights sleep.
