I bought a lawnmower from Argos

I bought a lawnmower from Argos. Unfortunately I have a problem with it. It has a two year warranty. I tried 8 times with their helpline. To no avail. Was put in touch with Spear& Jackson’s helpline. Ihave contacted them 8 times. Pamela Tristram Caprice Brittany to name a few. Had the unfortunate experience of speaking to “ Lucy “. Rude. Arrogant unhelpful I every way possible. And she happens to be a Team Leader. ? Apparently. Asked a simple question. ,could you tell me where you are based. “ in an office was her sarcastic reply. I skedseveral other questions which she thought was irrelevant. I’m pleased that other members of her team were at least polite even though we were going around in circles I’m simply asking we’re doing I go to resolve this issue. Perhaps Lucy could improve her customer skills somewhat After all. That’s what her role is. If unhelofulness and rudeness is a quality then it won’t be long she’s promoted or dismissed. I hope someone with courtesy and manners will take the time. Patience being a virtue. Paul. Plymouth. Just some advice. We’ve all got to get old.

S&J provided the spare part I sought within a week, without any difficulty - and with a person replying. I will use again!

Having lost a small part of a product I have had for over 15 years, I contacted S&J, expecting to be given short shrift, and yet they were so helpful, and I received the part in the post within the week.
I cannot fault the service I received - and by someone - not an anonymous response!
I really appreciate that, and will buy more S&J products when I have a need!

Now cheap Chinese goods.

Used to be a very reliable make, now a lot of garden hoses and attachments are made in China and the quality is appalling. Bought a plastic and metal spray attachment for garden hose, leaked from 2 seals immediately, had to make own seals, now it comes apart once under a little pressure, waste of time and money. Please stop with cheap Chinese goods.

Where's My Refund Spear & Jackson

In June I bought something directly from Spear and Jackson via Amazon. They sent the wrong item. I returned it within 24 hours using Spear and Jacksons recommended method. I was told I would receive a full refund within 9 working days. 6 weeks later I'm still waiting for a refund. Amazon don't seem interested and I've given up trying to contact Spear and Jackson. Does anyone know how I can get my refund

Great service from Linda @ S&J

I had a product enquiry and a question for the spear and Jackson team. They responded quickly to my online enquiry and offered excellent service.

Linda Gunning offered amazing service and went above and beyond. I would have no hesitation in using S&J for their baby products.

The worst and rudest company EVER..

This has to be the worst and rudest company I have ever dealt with. I purchased a Spear & Jackson 2in1 brush cutter and grass strimmer from Argos and wanted to buy spare batteries so I contacted S&J customer service and was told they don't sell them and to contact Core services so I contact them and I am told no we do not sell these batteries go back to S&J which I did again then I am told to contact WORX, So I contact them and same thing, we don't sell them contact S&J, so back I go again and I received a email which should of been sent to there colleague and NOT me which they must of done by mistake which was extremely rude complaining about me. So a word of warning, don't buy any products from SPEAR AND JACKSON that need any parts or batteries or customer service advice. You will get messed around and told to contact many different companies. I would NEVER buy from this company again and will be returning the strimmer.

I understand the brand is now owned by…

I understand the brand is now owned by ARGOS. The range of Spear & Jackson battery mowers is testament to a greedy move to trade on a brand name my generation respected.
The SP battery lawn mower has been an expensive liability and absolute rubbish in every way.
Get your sourcing managers sorted out please ARGOS!

Terrible company

Terrible company, I brought a cordless lawnmower from Argos last March (2021), it stopped working about a month ago, the battery was fully charged but the charger wasn’t working once fitted to the mower, ‘so I E-mailed Spear & Jackson and got an automated reply asking for the serial number which I sent back straight away, heard nothing, e mailed them again, same automated reply, and again, yup, you guessed it same automated reply, when they eventually answered, after I said I would take it further. They now tell me they don’t do repairs and to go back to the supplier.. WHY Ask for the serial number in the first place and tell me..’ we on on the case’ if they don’t do spare parts, it beggars belief.I have given up now and got a different lawnmower, also, the mower was meant to have a 3 year warranty, they just don’t seem to care, I used core aftercare( I think that’s the right name) I was given that number by a spear and Jackson employee on the phone, please just avoid this company…… one good thing is that I also brought a cordless strimmer and, so far that is still working but that doesn’t mean it will last long after reading other reviews!

I bought a Spear and Jackson mower with a rechargeable battery sold as suitable for medium sized gardens. In the first six months the battery went luckily it was replaced for free. Now less than three years afterwards the battery doesn't last for me to do all my garden in one go.

Made in China, badly, probably by forced labour

British companies are funding the Chinese terror state just for pure greed. Foisting sub-standard and dangerous goods on the public and turning a blind eye to state torture, brainwashing, slavery and 'disappearings'. Turning a blind eye to monstrous dog meat festivals, where thousands of dogs are tortured before consumption to 'improve flavour'!
Do you want your money used in this way?
I bought a Cordless strimmer/brush cutter believing that S&J were a UK company ha ha. Strimmer works OK but brush cutter attachment vibrates so excessively that its dangerously unusable.

941/7553 Spear & Jackson 25cm Grass Trimmer - 350W

We bought the above grass trimmer from Argos, and can honestly say it's the worst bit of garden kit we have ever bought.
We have used it twice, and each time the strimming cord has snapped and spooled out. It's clearly not strong enough for purpose; we seem to have to buy new spools of cord when this happens, which just isnt on.
Added to which, when trying to sort out how we might possibly find a way of making it useable, a plastic bit (it's very plasticky) broke off. So now we have a double useless bit of kit.
The irony is that we partly bought it because Spear and Jackson have a good reputation: big mistake!
The only outcome we can see is a trip to the tip with it - and a gross waste of money!

Useless bogus company

Useless company. Bogus '5 year warranty'. Product (lawnmower) became faulty after 2 years, they just waste your time/send you around circles. Time is money. Dont waste either of yours on this company.
