Beware: Misleading subscription, hostile customer service
I purchased a license for $19.99 in January, 2021. There was no indication from the company that the license was time-limited. The software stopped working in March, 2024.
I contacted the company 3/22 for assistance. Despite a follow-up email I sent 4/2, I received no reply. My third follow-up (4/6) received the reply the company had followed up. I hadn't received it, and asked them to resend. They did not.
I sent another email 4/14 requesting the resend. I requested a refund if the company would not help. Receiving no reply, I contacted the company 4/29. I filed a complaint with my state, and requested the company's physical address to file a complaint with Better Business Bureau.
The representative replied, "As I explained in a previous response, that $19.99 was for a one-year subscription." There had been no previous response in which this was explained. The representative also declared, "You are the only customer who doesn't seem to understand that you paid for a one-year subscription." However, I was never informed of the one-year time limit.
Although I'd asked the representative to provide a physical address for the company so I could file a BBB complaint, she did not. I needed to consult my local library to find the address.
