I sincerely hope you could assist me with my renewal request.
I failed to receive any prior expiration notification, and my domain has only been expired for just one day. I would highly appreciate it if you could allow me to renew my subscription at the original regular price: 14$.
My account details are as follows:
Domain: iaman.app
But I get this:
"Regrettably, our system completely prevents us from manually altering a renewal price or retroactively applying the legacy $14 Google Domains rate once a transaction has gone through. I know this is incredibly disappointing news, and I am so sorry that I cannot force the system to change this price for you today."
My case # is 14073314

SS tried to renew my subscription via the credit card I gave them originally. No mail, email or text to notify me. It was $100 more than last time. I’ve wasted many hours trying to speak to a human. Could not be any worse.

Great job removed auto renew on old account that I could no longer access.

The absolute worst policy and solution I have encounted in my 15 years as a business owner. I have hosted my domains here for years when Google domains integrated to Squarespace and have not had any issues. This year, my bank forced all members to get new debit cards and I went in to update by billing info by the date 4 of my domains renewed/expired. Instead of being available for the amount they have been for years it was now almost double the price. I spent a long time trying to find how to get the correct price and could not, so I renwed the most used domain at the extreme higher price and tried contacting customer service. None of the links in the emails or website worked for days. I finally got through and the representative was completely unhelpful and claimed that the registrations are done down to the minute on the day they renew and I missed that deadline somehow and would have to pay this exhorbitant price for the domains going forward. This is ridiculous and I went through many channels to try to contact Squarespace before the deadline and have had 23 domains hosted here for years and they will not help me. Absolutely atrocious and horrendous. -100/10 DO NOT RECCOMMEND

I had a website that was not in use and had completely forgotten about. When it auto-renewed, Squarespace's customer service representative completely exceeded my expectations in quickly taking care of the situation, cancelling the site, the URL, the auto-renew, and getting me a refund.

CAUTION BEFORE SIGNING UP!
This website builder auto-renews and does not inform you in advance or remind you. It uses the previous card and charges more for the following year. Unfortunately I got caught out...didnt use the site and ended up being charged £270 for an auto-renew for a site I wasnt even using. Think twice before signing up!

My domain name was set to auto-renew and was renewed automatically by your system. However, I never received any email notification regarding this renewal. Since I did not receive a renewal notice, I assumed that the domain had not yet been renewed and proceeded to renew it manually. During the process, I realized that the domain had already been renewed automatically, resulting in an unintended duplicate renewal.
As soon as I noticed the issue, I contacted customer support. I was informed that my refund request could not be accommodated due to ICANN regulations. I understand that there may be certain restrictions in this regard. However, my main concern is that I never received the auto-renewal notification.
Your representatives insist that the notification was sent and that I may have simply missed it. However, I continue to receive other domain-related emails, including expiration reminders, at the same email address without any issues. For this reason, I would have expected an investigation into why the auto-renewal notification was not delivered.
Due to the missing notification, I incurred an unnecessary additional renewal charge. It is also disappointing that no solution, explanation, or alternative resolution has been offered regarding this matter. At the very least, I would have expected a reasonable effort to address the financial loss I suffered as a result of this situation and to provide some form of fair resolution.

I have to get a card replaced so I don’t get charged by you guys. Unbelievable they can send an email informing me of my domain renew. I click the link in the email to update or cancel my domain. Can’t log in. Contact customer support they can’t do anything they blame Google. I can’t contact Google who has the worst customer service in history. So I’m basically stuck.

Very helpful support agents. They helped me restore a domain I previously owned and renew it before it went to auction. The whole platform (website builder and domain registration) is very user-friendly and easy to use. No hidden fees whatsoever. Highly recommend!

Just wouldn’t help me renew a domain after transferring

Unable to renew my domain name. They required a a photo of my ID, biometrics, information from my credit card they already had on file for several years, and many other questions. Even with that, I wasn't able to move forward with renewing before the expiration date. The "award winning" customer service was no help whatsoever.

Not overly tech savvy
Can’t work on the website to make changes
Paying 450$ for something I am not happy with
I will not renew
I will find something that has a sensible price point
And I can manipulate myself

They auto-renew without informing and thus have taken about $400 over the past two years without my knowledge

I followed all the steps to create my website . I have a domain already renewed for 2026. Squarespace had me renew for 2027 for some reason. After doing that and entered the domain provider authorization code i thought all is well. However 2 days later they emailed me that the code for domain is not valid. Very odd since it went through fine 2 days ago. Not reliable , complicated and poor customer service. Don't waste your time

Squarespace’s current domain management system is a masterclass in dark patterns and architectural failure. After a recent unauthorized renewal, I am left dealing with a fragmented UX that prioritizes capturing revenue over billing transparency.
Critical Failures:
Deceptive Renewal Notifications: I received "friendly reminders" stating my domains had "No Payment Method on file" and required manual updates to stay online. Trusting this, I allowed them to lapse. Instead, Squarespace bypassed its own warning and charged a PayPal account linked through an opaque "grouping" feature I never consented to.
Opaque "Grouped" Billing: The system "may" group domains together (their words, not mine), linking payment methods across assets without a clear opt-out. There is no mass-management dashboard to view these links.
The "Hostage" Ungrouping Process: To decouple a domain's billing, Squarespace requires you to: 1) Create a new trial site, 2) Add payment info to that trial, and 3) Manually contact support to move the domain. This is an unacceptable time-cost for a basic database relationship change.
Inconsistent Metadata: My dashboard showed auto-renew was OFF for the majority of these domains. They renewed anyway. Once the charge hit, the system seemingly toggled them back to "Off," making it impossible for a user to audit the state of their settings prior to the transaction.

My domain was about to expire but the mobel version of their website would not show me to scroll to the part of the screen I need to renew my domain. So I use a desktop instead. My credit card has expired and I put my new credit card info in. There was no way to manually renew the domain! I had to wait until it was scheduled to auto-renew.
I got an email today saying that the domain has expired.
Avoid squarespace at all costs or you will regret it.

Once again, I cannot get to talk to a human. When I opened my square account, I hooked up my bank account and everything was all verified by you guys. And then it took some months and then I started selling and now I’m trying to get my money from you and put it in my bank, but I can’t cause now you want me to verify my bank account again so you’re using something called plaid and I sent information to them and they said it would be wanted two business days and they put like one cent into my account to make sure it was mine took care of all that, then they say they want a bank statement. A current one went to my bank had them help me upload it got it text back from them saying thank you. It will take one to two business days to Verify this this morning. I get an email from you guys that says please upload a bank statement. I’ve already done this. Why is it so difficult for you all to get my money and put it in my bank, why is it so difficult to talk to a human, where is your award winning Customer Service?
my square space is due to renew for the year and I’m waiting to renew it to see if I wanna stay with you because things shouldn’t be this difficult.
I could only pick one date for the date of the problem, but it’s multiple dates and it’s multiple months.

I mistakenly THOUGHT squarespace was a legitimate company and I was ignorant enough to give them my credit card information and purchase google workspaces through them. Now I want to cancel and transfer to google squarespace is ignoring my support tickets and not responding to live chats. This is a auto renew and time was ticking down. I had to cancel my credit card to stop them from renewing because they refused to offer any support with cancelations
