They put an automatic renew on my PayPal. I didn’t want to renew. It has been an absolute nightmare trying to get it refunded. A dozen emails back and forth and still no refund yet. I would never recommend Squarespace to anyone. Go to somewhere else with better customer service.

Impossible to cancel your own site

Website is extremely limited for what you pay for and extremely expensive. And worst of all, they are nearly impossible to cancel their subscription. I canceled my subsription the day I signed up because I realized in a year I would not want to renew due to the cost of renewel. Canceled the renew on my website URL and the website. Then a month before the annual renewel I got an email reminding me that everything would renew. I thought that couldn't be possible and logged into cancel my subscription and canceled my domain renewel AGAIN. A month passes and I see they charged my card for a full renewel after TWICE of canceling. I went to cancel AGAIN, a third time and had to file for a refund. There is no one to call. Thankfully in my panicked state I managed to get an email out and they claim I will be refunded and they are canceling for me since it seems it won't stay canceled for some reason. Oh I know, the site is a scam! If you can't cancel yourself then the site is just a straight up scam.

They took over Google domains and now…

They took over Google domains and now none of my domains renew and I cannot transfer them away. I've been talking to support for 3 months and there has been no resolution or forward movement at all.

I'm at the point where I want to move all my services away but there's no way to do this and I'm going to end up losing a client.

I tried contacting the regulator but it's apparently outside their remit.

Even when they migrated the domains they broke them all and only by my own due diligence I noticed and managed to fix them. One at a time. Mental for a website agency to have to do this.

Took money despite cancelling and will not refund

I no longer needed my website so turned off their auto renew function. They billed me anyway. No matter how you try to contact them by email or live chat, there is no response other than an automated sorry we are busy note. They are clearly trying to exhaust me and walk away rather than returning money they stole.

Failed company

You can't even pay to renew a domain on this website, they have to do it manually after days of you asking the support, with the same card you put yourself 😂

Lost my website for weeks = leads for my business - because of this, and it's still going on because they can't do DNS properly.

Unethical refund policy

First SquareSpace use dark design patterns to automatically renew your subscription each year. Of course you only realise when the payment is taken from your bank. I tried to cancel the subscription and get a refund one day after it renewed. Sorry, that's too late for SquareSpace - no refunds. Total scammers, stay away.

Horrible customer service

Horrible customer service. 2week average response times. I was unable to renew my domain due to a bug on their end that didn't provide an option to renew. Multiple emails back and forth from customer support saying they're onto it and they're definitely fix it before the cool down period. 2 months later after I've followed up weekly I get a blunt inhumane response. You need to re register your domains.

Horrible customer Service!

Horrible customer Service!

I received an email from Google that my email was suspended so I urgently went to the Squarespace dashboard to renew my domain membership (I did not turn off the auto renewal, and did not receive a warning for this).

I paid for the renewal but my email was still not working so I purchased an upgraded membership plan to "business standard" to see if it would make my email work faster and it did not work. I checked my credit card and SquareSpace charged $221.06 x 2 (total: $442.12 CAD) and $110.53 x 2 (Total $221.06 CAD) This is a total of $663.18 CAD I was charged. I spent a whole day without access to my email and have been trying to fix this issue but there was no immediate customer service to help me fix this urgently.

After a day, my email is finally working but I have been overcharged and have no receipts from Square Space for the charges. Haven't heard back from square spaced and their website says "award winning customer service"... no phone number or immediate contact for urgent issues where they have stolen my money????
SO DISSAPOINTED

Squarespace service remains poor…

Squarespace service remains poor DESPITE the company assuring me MONTHS AGO the issue was resolved. My domains were transferred to Squarespace from Google Domains (I never sought out or desired to have any connection to Squarespace). Squarespace service is VERY poor: I constantly receive bad and wrong information (Squarespace emailed me repeatedly that multiple of my domains were past due, when in fact ALL domains were paid and auto-renew was on: I checked each time to ensure that I didn't lose my domains) from Squarespace. I reported this issue to the company (including the impact it has on my small business: employees had to work over a U.S. holiday, due to bad information by Squarespace) yet TODAY the issue persists. I am angry that a company with resources far beyond those of my small business is hurting my business and eating up employee time: we have been forced to manually resolve what a half-way decent Squarespace employee should be able to fix (not to mention I was assured by Squarespace that the issue was FIXED...after a very LONG back and forth with the company via Twitter/X direct message). Ultimately, I will transfer my domains to another company. (I look forward to the day I can tell Squarespace that we are never, ever getting back together!)

Absolutely terrible company

Absolutely terrible company. Deceptive in their auto renew-- they charged me for a subscription even though I explicitly elected to not have my domain renew. They charge subscription separately from domain, so choosing to turn off billing to the latter doesn't save you from a sneaky auto renew bill from the former. When I went to cancel my subscription, they offered 0 refund-- what a dog$hit company.

Absolutely the worst customer service I…

Absolutely the worst customer service I ever experienced. Tried to renew my domain registration and received errors on different browsers. Tried contacting support and found out: no phone support, chat support doesn’t work, email support is glacial (at this point I’m still waiting to hear back from a live human being). The only responses so far are canned emails about how busy their award-winning customer service is. I call BS. Luckily I only have two domains with them. Even canceling my account doesn’t work. Zero stars would be a compliment for this t—- of a company.

Square space are uncontactable

Square space are uncontactable. They are actually a dishonest site. I must pay an extra £225 for an annual price plan because I missed my renewal date by 4 days and did not see the button which says do not renew subscription. They offer no refunds. An honest company would have someone you could speak to in this situation in order to exit gracefully.
Avoid this company.

Terrible service

Acquired Google Domains, enabled auto renew without my consent, getting hold of them is a nightmare, extremely slow to respond. Reporting them to my bank for fraud, as do not have any contract or business with this company.
Further, they are unable to even send an email without braking the law, as they are missing all trading particulars as stipulated by uk law and Squarespace UK Limited demonstrate a general disregard for their legal obligations in the UK.

ZERO Support

Squarespace acquired my Domains from Google and now I cannot access them! One of my domains just expired, but I'm unable to renew it due to an error message. Meanwhile, Squarespace has NO PHONE NUMBER, and they did not respond to my E-mails or chat requests. It is as if Squarespace has stolen my domains and shut down my website.

Issues with Domain Renewal on Squarespace - Beware!n…

I want to share my recent experience with Squarespace to warn others who might be facing similar issues.

I purchased my domain through Google Domains, which was then transferred to Squarespace. Unfortunately, the domain was supposed to renew automatically, but this did not happen, even after updating my payment information.

Here’s a summary of what happened:

Automatic Renewal Failure: My domain was set for automatic renewal, but the process failed. Despite receiving renewal reminders and updating my payment details, the domain did not renew.
Loss of Access: As a result, my website and business email are now inaccessible, severely impacting my operations.
Customer Support Issues: I contacted Squarespace Customer Care multiple times, but they informed me that the domain wasn’t transferred correctly and they couldn’t renew it.

This has left my business offline, unable to receive emails or interact with customers, which is extremely frustrating and damaging.

Advice for Others: If you are experiencing similar issues, consider taking the following steps:

Document Everything: Keep records of all communications and screenshots.
Contact Support Persistently: Keep reaching out to both Squarespace and any other involved parties.
File Complaints: Consider filing complaints with ICANN, the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). These organizations can help mediate and possibly expedite the resolution.
I hope my experience helps others avoid the same frustration and business disruption.

EDIT: After one day of my website and business offline, BBB have demand action from the business, and they put my website and email back online.

I am still trying to remove my domain from their possesion.

Lost my domain | Zero stars

Zero stars if I could. Since the domain migrations from Google (who were arguably already bad on support) to Squarespace, one of my domains was not set to auto-renew, even though payment method was on file. The domain did not show up in my list of domains at Squarespace, and I could not access it AT ALL. It was deleted, and I reached out to Squarespace support during the recovery period to keep the domain before it expired entirely and was released back out in the wild. NO RESPONSE AT ALL FROM A HUMAN IN SUPPORT IN A WEEK. Domain expired, and it's now owned by a cyber-squatter, trying to sell it for $3000+ USD.

Domain expired and there's no simple "renew now" button

I received notifications about the failure of the automatic renewal of my domain. On the day it was supposed to renew/expire, I updated the credit card information for the payment in the morning.

However, the automatic payment wasn't processed, and my domain was simply deactivated. I searched everywhere for a "renew or pay now" option to make a manual payment, but THERE IS NO SIMPLE BUTTON to do so.

I tried getting help via chat, and they responded with, "we are experiencing high demand, please try sending an email." High demand? Hire more staff or train an AI to meet the minimum requirements of a platform the size of Squarespace.

The worst decision by Google was moving to Squarespace.

official fraud from google and Squarespace

This is an official fraud that google and Squarespace did it together.
google doesn't want to do it directly, so it transfer all the domains without any permission to Squarespace.
Now, they don't answer, they just take the money from the people credits. They don't even allow to transfer the domain.
in my opinion we should all claim the fraud against them.
don't pay the Squarespace any more and cancel your auto-renew. when your domain get expired maybe you can buy it again

No customer service whatsoever.

No customer service whatsoever.
Unfortunately, Google domains transferred me to Squarespace for ongoing management of my Domain.
Squarespace were unable to use my previous auto renew details. So I changed them. I was sent a further email to tell me my domain would be cancelled unless I paid (even though the auto renew was switched on and I had added a new card).
They have no telephone or email support
Their webchat was not in use due to high demand.
I filled in their online form and 6 days later they have still not replied.
The only thing I am thankful for is that I didn't set up my website with them!
