I purchased a pair of boots from my…

I purchased a pair of boots from my local Cunninghams in N Wales and when on holiday in the lakes they leaked. I phoned my local shop and they immediately arranged for a full refund from their branch in Ambleside.. I popped in to drop the boots off and all the paperwork for a full refund was ready for me to sign… excellent customer service and a full refund was issued… Thank you Cunninghams 👍

This is my first review ever

This is my first review ever, driven by my experience at this retailer Betws-Y-Coed. If I could give a zero rating I would. This is not a reflection of the products sold but for the experience while shopping in this store. While browsing my wife and I felt like criminals, intensely being watched even though the shop was dead, even though we spent hundreds in the store. While shopping a passerby popped in asking for advice on a walk they wished to do nearby. The older womens abruptness and unhelpfulness was shocking and cringing to listen to, especially as we had done the walk the day before. It was a simple walk but the lady clearly just wanted some guidance and reassurance. The staff in this store are rude, abrupt and arrogant. If they were my employees they would be fired, for being an embarrassment to the establishment. If you want similiar products there are plenty of alternatives in the same town, that are polite, helpful and accommodating.

Terrible Returns Policy

I bought a pair of boots for my girlfriend for Christmas. I bought from Cunninghams because the boots were on sale. The items arrived fine, I paid for the £10 express delivery (which I already found quite steep) and they did come on time. However, the size ended up being too small so I was going to exchange them.

When I went to return the items... I found out that Cunninghams don't cover return post and that if I wanted to exchange the items I would also need to cover the postage for the replacement item. They also say it could take up to a month for them to issue my refund if I decided to go that route. I was shocked at this policy from an online retailer. Feels like im back in the 90s. Now I will incur extra cost to sort the situation out.

The only reason I am giving a 2 star rating instead of 1 is because the boots were on sale so cheaper than other vendors. I should have just bought the boots from Amazon at a bit of a higher price and saved all the hassle and at this point it would have actually worked out cheaper. Ive just lost money now shopping at Cunninghams.

If you buy anything from Cunninghams make sure its the right size otherwise its going to cost you. Terribe, outdated returns policy. Not impressed.

If I could give zero stars I would

If I could give zero stars I would, as my experience left me in tears. We like to support independent shops so went in to the branch in Betws-y-Coed to find good quality boots for my son. The older male assistant was a bit patronising. For example when I asked him to tell me something about La Sportiva his response was, “like what?”, and when my son said he was struggling to get one pair on, the response was, “you’ve got to undo them first mate”, with no intention at humour. We ignored it though, thinking he was just a bit blunt.. I asked if they price matched and the answer was no, which is fair enough. Two of the boots we tried were about £35 more expensive than elsewhere but I’d have been prepared to pay that as he’d spent quite a while with us. Unfortunately the boots that fitted best could be bought from Absolute Snow for £100 less so I said that unfortunately I couldn’t purchase them there. The assistant immediately became angry and started raising his voice, accusing me of wasting his time and telling me it was due to people like me that independent retailers were going out of business. I told him that while he’d been serving us, my husband had spent £50 in the shop on a bag he hadn’t gone in for, and that should I really be expected to pay £100 more than necessary. He continued his tirade, embarrassing me and I left shaking and tearful.
This is so sad as the stock appears quality, but I would highly recommend the much friendlier and more qualified team at Joe Browns at Capel Curig. I have never experienced such a reaction from a shop assistant. The irony is, I was going to go and buy one of their Rab jackets when my son had finished. In the words of ‘Pretty Woman’, I say to this unpleasant bloke…….”Big mistake. Big. Huge. I have to go shopping now”.

Very happy.

Excellent range of items at competitive prices. I was initially tentative about ordering from here due to the lack of TrustPilot reviews. However, I not disappointed. I’m very happy with my purchase. The delivery was super quick. Would definitely order from this store again.

Great Team and Service

Found this shop in Betws-y-Coad, wales and was so impressed not only by the friendly team working there but the knowledge they were happy to share when purchasing a pair of walking shoes. The cost might be a small percentage more being independent however this is made up by knowing I’ve bought the right shoe for what was needed.

Said an item was definitely available to send when it wasn't

I asked this company if a jacket was definitely available to send out immediately, as I needed it in a hurry. They told me it was. I had ordered the jacket on another site but they didn't have it in stock and I cancelled when Cunninghams Outdoors assured me they had it available to send.

Two days later it turns out Cunninghams didn't have the jacket available to send after all and said it would be two weeks before they could get it. I had to put back my trip by several days as I had to reorder the jacket.
