Second year with our excellent Stopcocks plumber

I am so glad I never looked at reviews before contacting Stopcocks or I might never have had the best plumber ever, and at my advanced age I’ve had a ton of plumbers attend to my boiler/s. Esther is professional and thorough, happy to answer questions and give advice, and a pleasure to know.

Worst plumber ever…

The Plumber didn't preplan her trip or ask any information prior to visiting my home, but informed me that she had to drive around looking for a parking space, and wrote this as a billed item in the invoice. The parking fee I did pay, this is fare and a billable item and pre-agreed. What type of business person doesn't research parking bays or fees before traveling and traveling time in attempttoarrive on time. Lara arrived late & took 2 hours to change taps. My bathroom was flooded as she found it difficult to complete the task, or was so incompetent then left my bathroom with paper and towels soaking up water. A day later unfortunately the taps needed re fitting by a professional, making this costly. I also asked Lara to see where a leak might be happening from my water cylinder. She gave some advice, but failed to identify the problem. I was billed for 3 hours labour. I would suggest 60 per hour is a professional fee, however Lara charged £110.00 per hour and failed to do the requested task. The invoice was 100 % over the initial quote. I will never use this company again, steer clear of this lot.

Debbie from stopcocks kitchen sink install

Debbie from stopcocks installed a new sink and mixer tap and a dishwasher in my kitchen, and also fixed the cistern on my toilet. I found Debbie to be experienced, skilled, courteous, friendly, and efficient, and would definitely use her for plumbing work in future. The pipework under the sink was previously a confused mess, and Debbie made several good recommendations to improve it, and left the whole system in a very much better state.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING

Unsatisfactory in all aspects.
Will not be using again.
My advice would be not to waste your time and considerable money
Had to call and PAY another plumber to fix the issue

Reliable, Trustworthy and Efficient!

I have used Stopcocks several times and have always been delighted with the service. My last two visits have been from Debbie and, on both occasions, the latter being last week, I found her to be highly efficient, knowledgeable and professional. She assessed the two jobs I needed doing. Explained what needed to be done. Sorted one immediately, measured up, popped out to get a part for other, returned and fitted it. Put everything back in order and cleaned everything up. All sorted within three hours. I would highly recommend her.

Don’t waste your money and your time

1.5 hours on under sink leak and wasted due to dog interfereing. £115.5.
Debbie came 2h late of our appointment, Very unprofessional, very bad actitud, I help her during all process as she didn’t have a ladder or torch to work in the attic and she is trying to make guilty of her inaptitude to my dog which was walking around the house and didn’t boarder her to do her job and she now is trying to charge us for 1,5 hours for a job that she supposed to done in the previous visit as she haven’t done a proper job bcos still leaking, in the last visit she supposed to fix a leak from a tank in the attic and still leaking and in the sink she literally was working maybe 10 min max and still leaking, in every single visit that we use your services the actitud of this lady is terrible and always try to me us guilty for a mistakes that happened with the old tenants, please avoid, not recommend at all.
Also she is trying to overcharge us saying that she done 4h work when you can see in the cameras that she came at around 1200 as she left at 1530 so there is only 3,5h even she ask for 1,5h for a job to fix the leak under the sink which still leaking and she was only 10 max under the sink and she left and I got all in video to prove it including the conversation that we had!!!

According the plumber?!
*It was his direct actions that have caused the leak. I advised him that as he was requesting this directly not having reported it to the landlord he was liable for the costs involved. The dog was still running around and barking and at that point I insisted he took the dog out.*
Sorry but I don’t understand why you keep lying, you know I have cameras in all the house and I can prove it what you were saying during all the time that you were at the house!!!

charging for a "quote"

I was very keen on the idea of using a female plumber however after spending 20 minutes with me she then called to say the job was impossible and charged 86 quid for the "quote" - except there was no quote. I called Stopcocks management who refused to listen and said she'd spent a lot of time on the job and been with me over and hour and done masses of research. None of this was true. I decided that life was too short to battle this evidently entrenched position and have moved on to a legitimate company. All very sad.

Avoid Lady Plumb like the plague

I had an awful experience with the same plumber (Vicky of Lady Plumb) who was subcontracted by Matchless Plumbing (equally bad). She installed a new boiler. Dropped a board into the room below - the ceiling board and rubble missed me by a couple of centimetres (only because I moved fast!) and the entire room was covered in black dust. She offered to get a cleaner - at my expense!
She cut a random wire in the electric point by the boiler and fused the house but wasn’t able to fix it because she wasn’t qualified. Left me with the boiler plugged into an extension lead dangling through the hole in the ceiling to the room below! I had to get an electrician to replace the point. He laughed when he saw what she’d done!
She came back to repair the ceiling - I’ll need a plasterer to sort out the mess she made of the ceiling - I could have done better with my eyes closed. She hid rubbish from the job in my loft - but removed most of it after I complained, apart from a large sheet of broken plasterboard! How does she think an old lady with mobility problems could move that?
The final straw was when I tried to turn the heating on last week - no heating and no hot water! She was too busy to sort it out! I’ve paid a real gas fitter to … turn the pump on - she’d left it turned off!!! Completely, utterly inept and uncaring.

Turning complaint into feedback and refusing to engage to solve issues.

Do not use @registeroftradeswomen subdivision of Stopcocks. They recommended @VikkiCook @LadyPlumbfor a plumbing job. This lady did a disastrous job at a very high price, repaired under sink leaks with silicon (still leaking), damaged new appliances and fitted them inadequately. She was also unpleasant and demanded payment before leaving contrary to the 7 days terms written on the Register of Tradeswomen invoice. Could only come back in 6 months …I used someone else to correct and finish her job.
When I complained about this plumber to Register Of TradesWomen, they turned my COMPLAINT into “Thank you for your feedback, we will take it internally from here on.” When I asked for their complaint procedure or for them to engage with me to resolve the matters. I got an email back saying, “we will discuss the matters with our lawyers”.
To this day, I have not heard back from them AND having done an internet search on the recommended plumber, discovered that they were several negative reviews on her already.
Register Of tradeswomen, are supposed to vet their candidates, and help customers until the work is finished. They recommended someone who is incompetent and refused to deal with any issues relating to the job or the plumber. Their terms and conditions are also very unclear.
PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM.
