Started well in the beginning then not so well at the end
Unfortunately my experience with StrideUp has been disappointing overall.
Firstly, IT issues on their side meant our 90-minute application call was delayed by around 10 days which wasn't ideal. During this period I had to chase regularly for a new appointment as no one proactively contacted me to reschedule.
Secondly, our first completion date was delayed by a week because we were later told the lender requires five working days’ notice for any changes to the completion date to release funds. Had we been aware of this, we would not have agreed to any last-minute changes.
The biggest issue, however, was on the new agreed day of completion itself. There was a problem between StrideUp and their solicitor in releasing the funds, meaning we could not complete on the agreed date and had to delay again. I attempted to contact StrideUp by email as there is no phone number available if you are not an active customer, but I have not received a response. As of today, we still have not completed and are again waiting to complete on a new date.
I also noticed another review describing a very similar experience on completion day, with delays caused by issues releasing funds. It is disappointing that StrideUp does not appear to have learned from that experience. This is particularly concerning because sellers may already be hesitant to proceed with a Shariah-compliant mortgage due to the extra steps involved, and situations like this risk reinforcing that reluctance, negatively affecting those who genuinely wish to use this type of financing.
This recent experience prompted me to write this review. It is a shame, as the initial onboarding and underwriting process was mostly speedy and smooth, but the lack of communication and repeated delays at critical stages have caused significant stress and inconvenience.
