Beware of this bank

Suncorp not only dont help you get your money back if you are scammed, they actually help the scammers take your money. Since this happened i have discovered many cases of other Suncorp customers who have lost hundreds of thousands of dollars thanks to Suncorp helping the scammers, and then refusing to get their money back.

We insured our household furniture and goods in commercial storage.

We insured our household furniture & goods in commercial storage with Suncorp, unfortunately our land developer took a year longer than what we were told and our furniture & goods ended up being in storage for 2 1/2 years. Our furniture removalist rang the morning of collection to move to our finally completed home to inform us that a large portion of our stuff had mould all over. A call to Suncorp to lodge a claim was made and the staff seemed very helpful. A request for the $200 excess came and was paid. Suncorp sent a company called Reztor who wrote a report with photos and said they would return with a team and a skip bin. Then the frustration began. We were advised by Suncorp not to unpack anything and to isolate our furniture & goods in our garage. 7 weeks went by with frequent requests through the Suncorp App (the only line of communication offered) only to be told that we were not covered as our policy clearly stated this, then we were advised that even if it was covered that ‘they only insure contents in storage for a maximum of 365 days’. My biggest complaint’s are
1. Why did it take 7 weeks to advise us we were not insured for mould as you would think Suncorp Insurance employees would know and understand the product they are selling.
2. When was someone at Suncorp going to tell us that the cover was only valid for 365 days.
3 How could Suncorp Insurance continue to take from us the premium for this insurance if it had reached the maximum insured time frame of 365 days!
4. On complaining about this theft, we were informed by a rude Suncorp Insurance employee that it is the Policy Holders responsibility to read and understand the product disclosure document.
So buyers of insurance from this company beware especially with home contents insurance when stored in commercial storage.
Make sure you read the product disclosure document from cover to cover!
Not impressed with this company’s theft of the premiums we paid whe n they knew we wouldn’t be covered. It’s called THEFT!

Frustrated and disappointed! Never again!

I have been a Suncorp client for over 30 years with my banking accounts, mortgage and insurance and credit card. I have been unable to use my credit card for the last year as every transaction is declined despite having paid it off in full! Every time I phone them I get told to visit a branch. My closest branch is 5 kms away and when I visit it they tell me to phone the company, so I'm back to Square One. I recently had a holiday on which I was unable to use my card for hotel bookings etc which made things very difficult. I'd love to cancel my card and take one out with a more caring institution but how can I do that without any decent service? I would never use them again.

happy

I have 2 cars under Suncorp comprehensive car insurance. Both cars have been written off in the last 12 months.
Last year, 1 car was rear ended by a stolen vehicle, written off.
This year, the other slid on a oil patch and crashed into a barrier, written off.
For both cars, I had market value. Suncorp paid a very nice amount for both cars. Which I felt was a very accurate market value. I was happy.
For both cars, Suncorp extended the 21 day car hire coverage at no extra charge. Which was fantastic. I did find you need to talk to the right people. I'd phone up and be told "No!" by someone. Then I'd speak to someone else and immediately get the car hire extension.
I did find the pay out for the written off cars took a long time. Which was frustrating. But at least they paid for the hire car until they released the payout funds. I just had to be super organised, lining up the new vehicle with a deposit, so that I could pay for it completely once I got the money and do it all same day, due to losing the car hire once pay out was completed.

I've used the road side assistance and the towing multiple times over the last 10 years. Always received excellent care and service. With one tow being on a Saturday evening in the middle of nowhere. They towed my car 2 hours away, not to the nearest mechanic for the breakdown location but to the nearest mechanic to my home, which was amazing. I didn't have to pay a cent.

My biggest gripe is, I get multi policy discount and SES discount. And these discounts constantly drop off, randomly. Then when I notice, sometimes months down the track, I have to phone up and get the discounts put back onto the policies, and get a refund for the over payments made, due to them charging me the full amount without the discounts applied.
I've had to fix this 5 or 6 times now. Really annoying. But at least they refund the money I've overpaid.

In total, I'm happy with Suncorp and will stick with them for the foreseeable future.

Terrible service. Unhelpful and Rude

I choose to place both my CTP and Comprehensive car insurance with Suncorp on recommendation of friends who had thankfully not had to make a claim.

The comprehensive car insurance was slightly more expensive with Suncorp than its competitors, however I expected the service to be better, I was wrong about that.

Unfortunately, I had my car stolen and had to claim on my insurance. Suncorp were next to useless the whole way through my claim. It’s almost impossible to speak to anyone and I would frequently spend hours waiting on hold. Most times I managed to eventually speak to someone they wouldn’t end up actioning what they said they were doing, leading to no progress in my claim. It appears to me like the departments don’t even communicate with each other within Suncorp, as I would frequently have to communicate outcomes between departments or drive forward for an outcome.

I received very little update whilst my car was being assessed, even though they promised to update me multiple times. I made over 12 calls to the assessors over 4 weeks each time finding it impossible to get hold of the person handling my assessment, I was promised a follow up call every time and never got one once. My car was then transferred to another site which I was informed were a wrecking yard without any updates, my car still with my personal belongings in at the time.

My hire car was only made available for 3 weeks, which I understand was in my contract. However, considering that Suncorp took twice as long as that to come to any outcome, it left me without a car for weeks. There was no effort to resolve the claim at all quickly, thus why should I be penalised for it taking their internal teams such a length of time to handle the claim.

Finally, the outcome Suncorp came to was nothing short of insulting. It was so far short of all the valuations I could find. I disputed the claim and they did increase it marginally, however it is still significantly short of what it would cost me to replace the vehicle. Their interpretation of market value is not what any customer would end up paying to replace a like for like vehicle.

The whole experience was disappointing. My friends, family and colleagues were shocked by how Suncorp handled my claim, they said that they would avoid Suncorp in future.

Just a terrible bank

Opened a cash management account to manage my SMSF in Feb '24 to invest in overseas funds, funds were blocked for 4 weeks for security checks which i was told would most likely happen but i was told should only take 3 days providing everything was okay. Funds eventually get released but i still can't access my account for several weeks later. I could get no response at all from there fraud department (ironically named) to see why i could not access my account as the funds were released so i was forced to make an official complaint. The following week i received an email stating my account is closed without any explanations and i had 14 days to withdraw any funds or they would be given to a charity. Who TF operates a business like this? Suncorp need to realise that it is a privilege to have customers bank with them but seeing that Suncorp bank is going down the toilet and being bought out by ANZ i should not be surprised. I will say the front line staff i dealt with conducted themselves professionally but that's about a far as that goes, the fraud team and upper management are a joke!

do not bank with Suncorp

Suncorp bank consistently fail to action problems and have in place a system that does not allow you to speak with anyone who can action issues. Their branch managers have zero authority to take action or resolve any issues whatsoever. If you manage to lodge a complaint all advice is " I have escalated this"" big deral.

Do not use SunCorp as they will run you around when you have a claim. They will add fasle claims about other Finance on your car and make you do all the run around to clear your name before settlement. They do not communicate at all once you lodge a claim

Absolutely useless

I made a small claim on some damage to my vehicle. After countless emails to them, complaints and waiting on the phone for HOURS waiting to get through to people and constantly being told I'm in the wrong queue, I have to rate them A BIG FAT ZERO. Avoid completely if you want to retain your sanity, they are absolutely useless. In the end I didn't even get any refund on my claim and they had no intention of letting me know. AVOID AVOID AVOID. Do everything you can to avoid this useless mob

Numpty bank

I have recently had the displeasure of dealing with Suncorp to close my deceased mother's account.
It took them 9 weeks to respond to each email, they were still trying to charge my deceased mother for insurance payments and sent me letters asking for payment when they already had the death certificate.
Thanks for the unneeded stress when I am trying to grieve my mother.

AVOID Suncorp Visa CC LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!

AVOID Suncorp Visa CC LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! It is not even Suncorps CC, belongs to another bank!!!
The CC is provided to Suncorp via another bank. They never told us this! - Fraud!

To have issues addressed you have to contact Suncorp bank, they forward the issue to the CC department at the other bank. Then it takes weeks and weeks for anything to be done, if at all! When checking secure mail for responses, there is no reference number so if you have more than one issue at the same time you have no clue which issue their message relates to. The way the CC statement etc is set out is very, very, non end user friendly. One of the worst we have ever encounteted. So far as CC issues go, service is poor, slow, unreliable and you may not even be contacted for a response to your querries!!! We wish to hell we had never signed up for Suncorp!!! We are still waiting months on!!!

Seeking Transparency and Safety: My Suncorp Story

To anyone considering doing business with Suncorp, I believe it's vital to share my experience, which has been nothing short of tumultuous and unsettling.

1. Chronological Overview:

Post-Accident: My car showed signs of suspension misalignment after an accident. I counted on Suncorp to manage the repairs, relying on their reputation and their guarantees for quality and safety.

Suspension, Repair & Structural Concerns: Despite my requests, there was a distinct lack of clarity and comprehensiveness in the inspection and repair reports. Notably, certain critical parameters were left undefined and supporting documents were never provided despite multiple requests. Some alignment measurements exceeded their prescribed tolerances. Suncorp claimed these were to spec but with an absence of manufacturer’s specified tolerances to provide it so. This raised red flags, especially given the recent recalls on this same car make and model due to catastrophic suspension issues.

Improper Vehicle Storage: My car was stored outdoors in the direct sun for over a month, which appears to be a direct violation of the manufacturer’s operating standards for repair. This could potentially cause harm to the battery and other components. The impact on these parts was not addressed or fixed.

Communication Gaps: Expected updates every three days, as mandated by the manufacturer’s operating standards for repair, were flouted. This left me in the dark, increasing my anxiety and concerns about the well-being of my vehicle.

Battery Charging Confusion: I noted discrepancies between the manufacturer’s public guidelines on battery care and the standards Suncorp adhered to. This inconsistency could have implications for my battery's longevity.

Call for Documentation: Despite my continual requests, essential documents like the Confirmation of Transaction and calibration report supporting documents were not provided.

Hire Car Provision & External Verification: While my vehicle's safety and quality remain uncertain, I requested continued access to the hire car, alongside an independent assessment by a third party. Suncorp has yet to address these requests satisfactorily.

Customer Relations Review: Suncorp's internal review by Customer Relations asserted that the car had undergone an independent inspection from the manufacturer, which verified the repairs were consistent with manufacturing specifications. This claimed the car was safe for return. However, the actual Tax Invoice from this inspection simply read: "Concern: Carry out post-accident repair mechanical inspection. Carried out a post-accident repair inspection. Inspected the mechanical components of the area involved in the accident. Inspected the HV system and battery. No issues were found. Correction: Perform General Inspection." This report did not specifically address my suspension separation or alignment concerns. The internal review glossed over these discrepancies and other issues I've previously outlined. What's alarming is Suncorp's Customer Relations department reference to their Lifetime Guarantee, which feels almost dismissive when considering potential gaps in repairs that could be life-threatening.

Regulatory Involvement: Owing to the persistent and concerning gaps in communication and resolution, I approached the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) to lodge a complaint.

2. Emotional & Safety Implications:

The ordeal with Suncorp hasn't just been about the car. It has deeply impacted my mental well-being. The persistent lack of clarity, coupled with the stress of navigating potential safety issues, has been daunting.
Moreover, Suncorp's apparent failure to activate its Domestic Violence policy, even after I made them aware of related concerns, showcases a lack of sensitivity, adding to my distress.

3. Final Thoughts:

I turned to Suncorp, expecting them to uphold their commitments to safety, transparency, and customer well-being. Instead, I've encountered an exhausting ordeal filled with gaps, potential safety hazards, and immense emotional distress. For those reading this, it's essential to make informed decisions. I genuinely hope no one else has to face such a trajectory of events and challenges with Suncorp.

To anyone considering doing business with Suncorp, I believe it's vital to share my experience, which has been nothing short of tumultuous and unsettling. Despite escalation to the Customer Relations department, a comprehensive review of the matter remained elusive.

Car insurance /Customer service and claim is below Poor!

Waiting for customer service on the phone for 1.5 hour and did nothing on my request to cancel my claim. My car just had a scratch and their service provider has the lowest review and bad service in my area. Total waste of my time and money. I was even planning to get a house and content insurance with you cos I’ve been with you for 5 years now but forget about it. Absolutely Pathetic!

Pathetic!!!!!

Pathetic!!!!!
Still waiting for advise for a windscreen (genuine) not a frankenstein replacement that has the rear view mirror constantly falling off smashing onto centre consul and bouncing under drivers feet.
Suppose when it compromises control of the vehicle and a major accident occurs we will let the litigation team decide on your culpability and personal damages settlement.

Glad it was not a major claim, that would probably take months to resolve not just a windscreen. Just lucky I have the "Comprehensive Advantages" cover which is pretty much worthless!!!!!

Do Not Expect Service

It's a shame i had to pick one star, as don't think they deserve that. The frauds team are ultimately a secret society that operate on their own time. If you have a "Fraudulent Activity" block slapped on your account, good luck getting a resolution. They will call you when THEY are ready. Additionally, half way through changing over all of our banking accounts to them, they decided that my wife and i were fraudulent and closed all of our accounts. Once again, a call of the frauds team. The untouchable, judgmental team.
Do not join Suncorp, run to the hills!!!
