Worst handling of flight changes - left stranded with infant
Rating: 1/5
Flight: XQ530 Antalya AYT → London Luton LTN, 29/04/2026
I booked Sunexpress for a flight on 29/04/2026. They changed my flight twice without consent: first to 30/04, then to 01/05. The 01/05 date was not workable - I had unpaid leave and was traveling with an infant under 6 months.
I provided proof that a flight on 30/04 was available and asked to be re-routed. Sunexpress refused and told me to take the 2-day later flight or lose my money. When I booked my own flight to get home, they refused to reimburse me.
No offer of care, no re-routing on the earliest available flight, and no help when I contacted them. I had to pay £251.70 for a replacement flight plus hotel and parking costs. Customer service only sent a written refusal.
If you’re traveling with a family or on a schedule, avoid Sunexpress. They will change your flight and leave you to sort it out yourself.
Sad thing is booked like 5 months before, yet they failed.
Rubbish airline.
I have gone legal and will get my money reimbursed! Bloody thief’s!

I have not flown with SunExpress before now. And found the journey very pleasant.

It took more than 1 hour to book my flights as your system did not function correctly and would not let me enter my card details.
Despite trying to get this resolved with you AI Bot it also failed to do anything and told me to contact your support number I tried both the Turkish numbers I was given but just got Turkish recorded messages hence I was forced to make the booking all over again, Disgraceful way to treat your customers!?
This was all done through my registered account which I was logged in to

The worst service ever! If you have booked a package holiday they will try to take advantage of the package and charge you an extra £80 on the way back home for cabin luggage even though the app says your allowed a trolley luggage, they will blame the package hol agency. Also for the in flight snacks, the card machine or apple pay will not work as they want you to pay extra in cash. Such scammers, its unreal!! On the way back from Antalya this is what they did to me. They will take advantage of your situation and get money out of you with whatever means they can. Please avoid this airline!

SunExpress moved my 8 June flight (XQ1613, STN to COV) forward by 3 days to 5 June without offering any real alternatives. The notification email only gave me one option: accept the new date or reject it. No mention of my right to be re-routed on another flight or airline at no cost, as required by UK Regulation 261/2004.
I couldn't travel on 5 June, so I called and asked for a refund, because SunExpress presented it as though that was the only alternative. After researching my rights, I called again and asked to be re-routed. I was told re-routing is only available on SunExpress flights and that since I'd accepted a refund, nothing could be done. Both of these are incorrect under UK law.
Now I'm forced to buy replacement flights that cost 10,681 TRY more than my original booking. I've sent a formal complaint citing Articles 5, 8, 12, 14, and 15 of UK 261. Under Article 15(2), a passenger who was not correctly informed of their rights is still entitled to pursue additional compensation, regardless of having accepted a refund. If this isn't resolved, I'll be escalating to the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and pursuing it through the courts. The law is clear on this, and I'm confident the compensation will follow, whether SunExpress pays it willingly or a court orders them to.
SunExpress had two chances to inform me of my rights, the email and the phone call, and failed both times. Other passengers should know: if your flight is significantly changed, the airline is legally required to offer you re-routing on ANY reasonable available flight, including other airlines, at no extra cost. Don't let them make you think a refund is your only option.

We had to check in at the airport on our Paris-Izmir flight because, as citizens of Northern Cyprus, it wasn't an option. We paid 10 euros, but some passengers in the same situation were not charged. I want to state that this was not our fault and that the fee charged was incorrect.
Late taking off by 90 minutes going out of Stanstead, late taken off from Antalya by 40 minutes. No sandwich's hot or cold on the way out, ran out of beer on the way out. Hot sandwich had to be sent back 3 times as it was still frozen, then cold in the middle. They are cheap and you get what you pay for, but bring food and drink if you fly with this airline, and don't book a tee time for your day of arrival.

We flew from Glasgow 11th May 2026 check in was straight forward flight took just 4 hours the only complaint I could put forward is the communication from the flight about the flight plan other than that it was a good experience will fly with them again
Glasgow to antalya 1st may, return 8th may. When checking in 72 hours before our group flight i discovered a spelling mistake dreading phoning the call centre for the usual put on hold for a hour I was plesenty surprised everything sorted within10 mins and new boarding passes issued. Booked my flights over a year ago and return flight pretty much changed immediately to a very early flight rather than a mid day flight.
Gone to check-in yesterday and all ok. Gone into the booking today to check baggage and my return flight looks like it has now been cancelled, no email to advise me of the situation and I've got 2 days to my outbound flight. An absolute nightmare trying to find contact details to get the issue resolved within a day. Extremely unhappy with Sunexpress

Very disappointing experience with SunExpress.
At boarding, my family and I were treated in a disrespectful and stressful way regarding our hand luggage. We were 3 passengers with a normal amount of bags, yet we were suddenly told to either pay 80€ or leave our belongings behind.
Because my mother became afraid that we would miss the flight, we felt forced to leave one backpack and two bags at the airport.
What made the situation worse was seeing many other passengers boarding with multiple bags without any issue. If rules are enforced, they should be applied equally to everyone, not selectively.
The problem was not only the baggage policy, but especially the rude and unprofessional way the situation was handled

I will admit my mistake in not realising that my ticket would only allow me to have a backpack and not the rolling wheeled hand luggage. However none of this was mentioned on the way out nor that obviously my luggage was overweight. On my return flight my luggage was 17 kilos overweight and they fined me for both flights for my wrong hand luggage this means I end it up with a whooping fine of £260, there is nothing I could do, but pay. My moans is nothing was said on the way out, I purchased 3 handbags 3 boxes of chocolates, and 2 bags of spiced none of which would add to 17 kilos. I can only presume this is the way of trapping you, if I had known I would have reduced my weight or paid for extra luggage.

No real complaints to be honest. We got what was needed, easy to check in on line, decent flight time and service. Our only real criticism was that when the pilot spoke to us, we struggled to hear him and also couldn’t understand him so we had absolutely no idea what he said. Most of the cabin crew also struggled with English though one lady did speak reasonable English and helped out.On the other hand there was a medical emergency and the staff were great and issued water to the lady as well as checking on her throughout the flight.

Everything was very good, no problems with booking, check in and seats selection. Thank you
