Unreliable & dishonest, best avoided!

I booked Damon in for 8AM on 24/01/22 to make good of some holes in a composite door owing to changing the locking system and then a full respray and reseal costing circa £280.

Damon turned up (albeit it a couple of hours late) and set about work but sadly after carrying out the work, he attempted to collect payment and leave site despite there clearly being a defect in his work (the filler had sunk and cracked the fresh paint) - I spotted this and asked Damon to rectify which he did, but he did so without much care as he did not bother to re-sheet/mask up this time resulting in a fine mist of black over-spray all over my UPVC frame and cills as well as his heat gun yellowing the frames a little too (I guess from putting the heat too high or too close where he was in a rush?) Frustratingly I was too embarrassed to properly inspect the second time around so did not spot this until Damon had left site :(

A few days later (06/02/22) I noticed that the repair had once again failed (filler had shrunk again - likely due to too much filler being put in, in one go vs being built up) so I messaged Damon to come back and rectify. At this point in time he was pretty quick to pick up the message and said he would pop by the following week to rectify but this promise did not materialise and nor did any explanation.

After lots of chasing, I finally got rebooked in for 24/06/22 but again, Damon was a no show without any explanation.

On 01/08/22 I finally managed to reach Damon by telephone, he claimed to not remember who I was or the job in question but did agreed to come back on 04/08/22 during the AM when incentivized with another job (to repair some scratches in some laminate floor).

At 14:06 on 04/08/22 I messaged Damon to see what time he was going to be with me as I had not heard, he responded that he wasn’t going to be able to get to me but would be back in touch to re-arrange – he then started ignoring me again until early November at which point he promised to attend site on 03/10/22.

03/10/22 came and guess what? Damon turned up! Hallelujah! I showed him the scratches to the laminate floor and told him about the overspray/yellowing he had left on the door frame last time (to make sure he was more careful this time) and left him to his devices. He came and got me a little while later and the door looked good although I couldn’t really tell with the laminate as he had applied a very glossy spray (a sealer I guess?) to a much larger area than the repair which made it very hard to see where the repairs were. Damon said I would need to wait for the floor repairs to dry and then I would need to hoover up the dust and clean the floor so I figured I couldn’t really inspect until later?

Skip forward a few days to 18/10/22 and the repair on the door has failed in exactly the same way again (clearly the filler being used is unsuitable or is being applied too thickly) and having cleaned the laminate floor I can see several of the repairs are of poor quality (think 99p store touch up pen in the wrong colour) and I still have patches of high gloss which probably stands out worse than the issues Damon was supposed to be rectifying!

I notified Damon again of the failed repair and he said he would be out the following week but was a no show, then he said he would be out on Dec 8th but was a no show, then he said he would be out on Feb 15th but again was a no show – each time with no explanation, he just doesn’t turn up and doesn’t answer his phone.

It’s now been over a year since I hired Damon to do the 2nd job which I paid him handsomely for (£280 for the door and a further chunk more for the poor floor repairs) and I’ve pretty much given up on him ever coming back to finish the job properly.

I’m now going to have to pay someone else to come and do the job properly but the thought of some other poor sod going through this nonsense does not sit well with conscience and hence me wasting yet more of my time on Damon by feeling compelled to warn others of what they can expect if they hire him!

Poor work and scammer!

Damon came to fix a leaking crack in our shower tray, within 2 days the crack was opened again and leaking through the kitchen ceiling. Gave Damon a chance to come and rectify which he agreed to do on the 29th. 29th came round and he didn't show up, telling us he was on annual leave. told us to use gaffer tape on the damage until he can come and sort it!! Still 4 weeks after the initial repair he is now ignoring any message and has left us with a leaking shower and out of pocket, looking for a professional repair company now. DO NOT TOUCH WITH A BARGE POLE complete scammer! Will update if we revieve any response from this low life.
UPDATE... eventually got back to us and told us to use gaffer tape until it can be sorted. He arranged to come out on the 11th and didn't show up again. I have now used a reputable company who see his work and said he hasn't done anything apart from superglue it and paint the area with poorly matched paint. Despite Damin telling me he opened up the crack and stitched it etc..also he has deleted the Facebook page after telling me to remove the bad review.

Initially I had good service from this company, the repair to my worktop was extremely good and my tenant was very happy. After only two months a crack has appeared. I called him and he asked me to send an e-mail with the details, which I did and nothing. I then sent another e-mail a few days later, nothing. surly it is good manners to at least reply. What a shame, it appears he does not care about his reputation. After reading other reviews it would seem others have received the same treatment. I will gladly report that the problem has been resolved should this happen, but I'm not holding my breath.

If I could give zero stars I would

If I could give zero stars I would. This “company” is not a real company, it seems like a one man operation and that man is a con. It took weeks of calling him to finally get him to come (he kept promising to call back with an appointment time but never called back and I had to chase him). Finally he came and claimed he did the job but it looked terrible and the filling for the chip in my sink fell out after just a few days. He has asked to be paid by bank transfer and I stupidly paid him. No invoice nothing. Since then I have tried every way of reaching him to either refund me or do the job and he never responds. Just avoids all communication. Complete con and horrible work.

Can’t comment on the workmanship as the operative didn’t show. 1 hour after he should have shown I received a reply text (after various calls from me ) apologising but he could no longer make it .. He promised to call at the weekend to rearrange but this was 6 months ago and still no contact

A fabulous job on a burnt kitchen worktop!

Surface Renew did a fantastic job repairing a kitchen worktop in my Holiday Let.

There were several severe burns some of which had taken off the surface completely. The guy who came to repair it knew exactly what to do and very skillfully repaired the whole area - 6 months later it is still going strong and looking perfect!

I would recommend this company to anyone.
