Falsely Describes Items Then Blames the Deceased Estate!!!
This was the description of Lot 160 at the Auction - Auction Date was 29 October 2023 ~ 18ct Yellow Gold Diamond & Ruby Pendant Formed as a Leopard, The Body Set with 21 Diamonds & Ruby Set Eye on 18ct Yellow Gold Neck Chain (46cm) Gross weight 5.9g
I paid £260.00 plus commission which was fair amount of money if the description by Surrey Auctions was correct and there was 21 Diamonds and a Ruby, but little did I know that what I was buying was going to make me lose a lot of money.
I took the item to be valued at a very reputable jewellery store in March only to be told that the Auctioneers described 21 diamonds are in fact not diamonds but cubic zirconias and the described Ruby nothing but a synthetic Ruby. I decided to double check and had the diamonds and Ruby checked twice by a 2 fully trained Diamond Experts & Gemologists.
They both confirmed that what was falsely described by Surrey Auctions as been diamonds and a ruby were in fact CZs and a synthetic ruby!
Surrey Auctions is a well established Auction house which I have bought from a number of times so I contacted the owner and Auctioneer, to my shock and utter surprise not only did he not give me an apology for their mistake in description, he did not even offer me a full or partial refund, but instead of taking the blame for the wrong, false description……,the Auctioneer, owner shifted the blame to the deceaseds estate, it was fully the deceaseds estate mistake and there was nothing he could do!
Sadly I will NOT ever be buying from the untrustworthy Surrey Auctions that are based in Petworth, West Sussex! If you can’t trust what the Auctioneer has described in his description of the item then how do you know if anything else you want to buy is correct or a fake!?

The response by the Auction today 1 April 2025, 18 months later, they are a blatant liar, they refused to give me a refund so I am shocked myself that they even bothered to reply 18 months later, clearly the time has fogged their memory about the ripoff and refusal to give me a refund. They welcome to give me a refund now, go ahead let see if they do…….i guess I might be waiting for another 18 months!
Blah Blah Blah Blah! Excuses and more Excuses! I would not Trust sending it back to you, 18 months after I called you and then left the review. You do not need to have a trust pilot account, you would have been sent a notification via email 18 months ago when the review went live! End of story! Good luck with your auctions.
