Awful customer service_no programm after buying software, 0 help
Awful customer service. AI answers are nonsense and not helping as usual. The customer service is not existing. 3 Mails without answer! So upset.
I purchased the camtasia create licence. Got recipt, got my clients account, but no system key, so I basically can't use any of the features I bought. And in my account it says active from yesterday.
In the end they could solve my problem it is now working although the sound program keeps continuously failing.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from Camtasia
Do yourself a favor and stay away from this software.
It's unstable, crashed constantly and didn't manage to save my work or access recovery files.
The support doesn't give you answers if you're not on the latest versions and will encourage you to purchase an upgrade in order to talk to you.
Horrible experience overall.

Constantly crashes
Constantly crashes, either on its own or when trying to update media. Does not recognise valid .wav files even though they are not corrupted and are sitting in the project, struggles with copies of projects and I constantly have to start over. Have saved the projects locally so OneDrive syncing does not corrupt the projects but doesn't make a difference.

Very Buggy and Second Rate Support
Recently decided to pay for an annual subscription of Audiate along with Camtasia 2024.
Regretting I did. Should have known better. Camtasia has always been buggy for me as a Mac user. This is next level now with Audiate and Camtasia. Audiate will not sync with Camtasia, and it won't even close. I have to force quit it all the time. So you end up regularly doing edits in Audiate and losing them. Wasting huge amounts of time and effort.
Then when you contact support, you get people who really don't know the functionality or workflow in Audiate or Camtasia. They're clearly trained only in Windows. Despite spending 15 mins (or should I say wasting 15 minutes) Audiate is still not working and I've lost my work and wasted too much time.
There must be better products in the market...

I bought upgrade version of Snagit after using it for many years. It chrashed and will not open. Sent requested reports to support 2+ weeks ago and nothing.

The dynamic captions do not work
I updated to Camtasia 2024 for Dynamics Captions which costed me about 133 euros.
I followed their instructions with every step and yet the AI transcribed captions (Dynamic captions) where so bad, I have to adjust about 50-90% of every word transcribed and Camtasia adds to many words which destroys the timing and forces me to leave blanks and move around words. When I commented on their Youtube-guide to let them know about this they completely ignored me and tried to educate me on how to do it (which in fact was the exact same best practice they tried to educate me about).
Instead of acknowledging the feedback and problem they avoided to answer the criticism at all and said "this works for me every time." Not serious at all.
Terrible customer service
Some of the worst customer service I have ever received. Spent half an hour on live chat and after no resolution was found, I was told my query was being given a ticket and being transferred to email. 2 hours later and I've heard absolutely nothing, and the link they did send me for my query was broken and gave a 404 error.
I've lost count the amount of time Camtasia has crashed for me, don't waste your money.

The product maybe great but I don't get…
The product maybe great but I don't get a software key a week after paying for it. The software key is nowhere to be found: receipt, email, account on their website. I don't have luck in reaching their support either.
update: I'm dropping rating from 3 to 2 stars, as their response to my review is to "provide more information", rather than trying to fix the problem (I had provided my order number). I don't what they want, and how I can help them.
update: The response to my update was swift. Kudos for that. My trouble is that I keep getting the nasty "Your Trial Ends in x Days" error. It won't go away until I either "Continue Trial" or "Enter Software Key". The problem is, I have already bought it.

As an old, experienced Microsoft/Apple software developer and user of Camtasia Studio and Snagit since their beginning I can honestly vouch for the vast majority of one star reviews on Techsmith....everthing from poor customer support to upgrade and/or maintenance scams.
They've gradually pulled 'software dependence' scam which is the norm for most internet children nowadays. Once you get hooked in they continously try to get you to get a 'maintenance agreement' and/or upgrade to the latest, greatest. And now, guess what, they are going to an overlapping subscription service where it appears you not only have to pay a yearly sub fee for the program but an additional fee for 'maintenance' which is poorly portrayed. This is typical for software companies and mine has had to do so on one of our products but we gave choices of monthly, 6 months, yearly or a perpetual license with the option to cancel and get a pro-rated refund at any time.
I was discussing the potential purchase of TS's Audiate but was told by them that there was only a 14 day refund window which is a joke as the use of Audiate would take the average person way beyond that to get the expected output and interaction with Camtasia Studio.
So, yes, most of these 1 star reviews are dead on the money and being an old dev with high end equipment that knows how software interacts with it, I'm in a place to say, you're right ladies and gents!! These 1 star reviews aren't just needless rants!!
On an ending note they've pulled the community forums and this was a useful source of TS issues and sometimes solutions. Whenever you see a company pull their community posts it's a sign of massive ghosting and censorshop as the posts exhibit issues and trends direct from the horse's mouth.

Been using Camtasia on and off for 10 years.The software is nice and easy to use.
Most recently subscribed to the 2023 version, which crashed and reverted to a trial version.
Support is pretty hopeless so far. Apparently, they need time to sort it.
I'm not hopeful looking at some of the other comments on here. (Gave it one star)
Three hours later: I'm now with the third support person. I guess at least they are trying.
Another three hours later: (changed to four stars)
I must say, Techsmiths have redeemed themselves somewhat by fixing the situation very quickly when the right person arrived at the crash site.
Huge thanks to Anthony for sorting it out quickly and painlessly
I just hope this crazy error was a one-off.

The issue wasn't a one-off and now I'm once again in the support loop, getting questions and instructions that are not at all helpful.
The software is great when it works, but Techsmith really need to sort out their support. 24 hrs later I'm still no further.

I have spent 10 years working with company. The software is horrible. They sold me on their latest version the 2023 application because the other version kept crashing. What a waste of money and time! Camtasia crashed 15 times and I can’t open the project.
They couldn’t restore it. I wasted months getting this done. I’ve spent 24 hours working on this (only getting 3 hours of sleep) only for the new version that I just paid for to crash yet again and now I am out of weeks worth in of content.
I should have stuck with Premier Pro! Do not use this company unless you want to lose important information, especially if you are a business.

Bad License/Keys/Install System
Trying to do my duty because I use reviews often. The software itself is not bad but installing it and managing the license keys and maintenance is horrible. My advice is to stay away from all products offered by TechSmith.

Camtasia don't recognize me as a customer
Ok so I purchased Camtasia 2020.0. and it worked fine for about 2 years - you get one free upgrade after a year and that was good to.
Then the issues started.
So currently I can record video and sound - but the sound files are always shorter and out of sync with the video. I contacted support who dont' recognise me as a customer because I have an old product that is no longer supported ( 3.5 years old).
I have researched on google and updated devices, changed registry keys, you name it. Problem persists.
So I have a useless product.
I write this review in the hope that actually Camtasia will read it and understand that not dealing with my 'technical issue' until I purchase an upgrade is just not good business. I have since purchased another video software as I hate being treated as if I am some inconvenience. If you had helped me Camtasia eventually I would have upgraded. I don't even change my phone every 3 years so why would I change software I use like once a month?
So instead of retaining a customer you get an active disliked review.

Camtasia 2023 crashes on AMD constantly.
I've been a Camtasia user now for several years and pay for their maintenance service (for free updates). Honestly, it's an excellent video editor for ease of use.
However, even after several updates the current edition (2023), is a lag and crash fest on my AMD 7800X3D powered, 64 GB, RTX 3090. Just a few assets on the timeline causes freezes, and then crashes. I'm fortunate that being a long time customer I still have access to some previous editions, so I'm stuck using Camtasia 2022, which is running perfectly for me.
Techsmith also seem to ignore, or even delete, forum messages reporting this issue. They deleted my forum posts when I report these problems, so they try to cover this up.

Mediocre Customer Support
Camtasia will respond but expect it to take 24-48 hours, which can be a long wait if you're working on a project with a deadline. Also, their responses are not very personal or detailed regarding the specifics of your question(s) and are usually just a link to watch a video. Quite disappointed.
