Having used Teignlocks on 3 previous occasions we made the mistake this time of trusting him and didn’t ask for a quote. The bill was much larger than we expected and when we asked for a breakdown of the costs, we discovered that the labour charge had doubled from £40 to £80 per hour. On querying this we received a very threatening email stating that he would come and remove the parts unless we paid in full.
Will never use again and most definitely do not recommend.

Quote to replace a lock= £120-£190.
Kieran couldn't fix it and left it inaccessible to my lodger. He told me I wouldn't be charged extra for not being able to do it.
However, Tim charged £120 extra to let my lodger in later that afternoon.
Bill was £432.49!
I was not informed that it was going to be more than double the quote.
I was charged for 2 1/2 hrs of carpentry at £30/hr =£75. I only booked a lock replacement. I have a handyman that would have done that at half the price!
I was initially given 14 days to pay but when I queried the bill he reduced the paying time to 5 days.
2 other quotes for this work were £70-80.
Tim offered me 10% discount but still wanted £389.24.
He kept my keys came, came and removed the door, and held it hostage until I was forced to pay. It was a very unpleasant experience. Do not use this company without a written quote. I have been left very shaken from the experience. He broke trading standards and will be reported.

I was stuck with a problem on my 5 point multi lock on a Upvc front door. I phoned Tim, the owner of Teign Locks. It so happened he was away of holiday but still took my call and gave me very much help and some sound advice. Two days later he was home, and I was able to bring the damaged unit to him He was very much the expert and was able to sort out my problem with ease His knowledge of the huge array of different locks and locking mechanisms was just amazing. I am so glad I just happened to come across his name via a google search. He is a friendly, helpful and likeable man who knows his trade so well. I have him listed on my phone now, with other trusted traders. I shall certainly contact him again if I have any security or locking issues. I highly recommend Tim to anyone out there that wants a good job done and at a very fair price. Thank you to Teign Locks..
