Review for TER SNCF – Mathieu

During our recent journey from Strasbourg to Mulhouse, Mathieu, the train manager and ticket conductor, left a lasting impression on us with his exceptional service. From the start, his kindness and professionalism stood out. He was approachable, attentive, and went out of his way to ensure our trip was smooth and enjoyable.

Mathieu's knowledge of the region added a special touch to the journey, and his ability to connect with passengers made the experience even more memorable. It’s clear that he genuinely cares about the people he interacts with, which made us feel valued and at ease.

It’s rare to encounter someone who brings such warmth and dedication to their role. Mathieu is truly an asset to TER SNCF, and I hope his outstanding efforts don’t go unnoticed. Thank you, Mathieu, for making our trip so much better!

FAKE WEBSITE!!

FAKE!! ter.sncf.com seems to sell fake tickets and not be the real train company. We bought a day-pass for one TER department, and on our way from Monaco-Monte-Carlo back to Cannes a controller asked us to present our ticket. He scanned the ticket and told us we have a fake ticket (payed 30€ for it, which seems legit for 3 people for this type of ticket). DON'T FILL IN YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO HERE!! BUY AT THE TICKET MACHINE, NOWHERE ELSE!!!

Horrible experience

Horrible experience. While the domestic Swiss trains were all clean and well maintained, the TER SNCF train my family and I took from Geneva to Lyon was disgusting. The seats were stained and dirty, and the bathrooms had no soap nor any toilet paper. The sensors for the sink to dispense water were messed up so you couldn't even rinse your hands off without fiddling with it for five minutes. I politely told one of the staff that there was no soap or toilet paper and I was promptly ignored.
Overall I was very disappointed and I cannot in good conscience recommend this train service to anyone.

COVID measure ignored, puts people at risk

I was sold a 1st class train ticket for the Geneva-Bourg en Bresse-Lyon trip. I chose 1st class as I am immunocompromised and therefore high risk for covid, 1st class allowing for more space for passengers.

Upon arriving at Geneva Cornavin, I saw this trip was cancelled. SNCF preferred to pack us onto 1 bus to go the Geneva-Bellegarde-Lyon route. The bus was completely full and we were packed together. At one point, at Bellegarde, a man entered the bus with his mask lowered and began talking nonsense, complaining, basically talking a lot. I was seated in the very back with a very aged woman who was also at risk with diabetes. The man approached us and wanted to sit in the empty seat between the woman and I. The woman asked the man to put on his mask correctly and he refused, continuing to complain. We refused to let him sit near us in the empty seat if he did not put on his mask, which is MANDATORY on SNCF trips.

At one point, finally a controller arrived. Instead of asking the man to put on his mask, or, if he refused, asking him to leave the bus, the controller tried to bully the woman and I into allowing the man to sit next to us. She was raising her voice and telling us it was our fault the bus was not leaving. It was her job to ensure that all passengers are following the mandatory mask rule, and she failed. We were not going to sit for 2 hours next to an idiot who refused to wear his mask, and to risk our health.

So my issues are...
1) why SNCF did not provide 2 buses for the approximately 80 to 100 people for the trip that they knew beforehand (via ticket sales data online) approximately how many people would be on board. To maintain safe distancing, of course. They had 3 days to organize this.

2) the failure of the controller to enforce the mandatory mask rule to protect all passengers, instead thinking about getting the bus off in time and bullying us to risk our health for a passenger that did not respect the rules.

3) Why wasn't the train journey via the Bourg en Bresse route maintained? Just to save money at the expense of safety? Throw everyone on a bus and save some euros?

I would like a refund for my 1st class journey I paid for and ended up crammed unsafely into 1 bus with not toilet for 2 and a half hours, with SNCF that are not ensuring hygiene rules are respected by passengers.
