Grime, mold and bugs...

Disgusting hotel full of mold. Just dirty. Booked twin room in September 2025 for May 2026; put into a double upstairs with a handicap elderly mother... no shower, just a old claw tub. Window to room had been open for so long that vines were growing into room. Staff was zero help and basically blamed me for not letting them know I was traveling with a handicap person. Don't waste your money or time unless you just like breathing in black mold. Decided to sleep in the car because the mold smell is overwhelming. Went back inside just in time to see a huge spider crawling across my mother... we left immediately!

Great food and excellent value

Have been for a few years even though I live in the village. Great refurbishment which felt great as super Christmas decorations.
You can have 2 courses for £12.95 or 3 for 13.95. Not loads of choice but the best restaurants do a few dishes very well. I never have carvery as experience tells me they are cold but the couple we were with opted for this and said it was very hot. I had the fish and chips which was the best I had eaten for ages. Desserts were varied with a big range of ice-cream flavours.
Service is good but felt a bit canteen like rather than restaurant.
When I came to write this review I was shocked at the low star reviews, goodness what do people want?
Will be returning sooner than later

12.00 pm 23rd October Dined at the Plough in Eynsford to celebrate my Wife and I's 48th year of marriage and was served by Waitress "Olivia" who was most courteous and hospitable and the menu prepared by Chef "Keith" who presented an excellent palatable cuisine, thank you to you both.

The best restaurant in England

we have eaten in a number of restaurants in the last 2 weeks whilst touring Northern England for our Wedding anniversary. All were more expensive and none can hold a candle to the plough. Yes there is always a down side. It is too far from my house. Paul please move the property then it would be perfection

Lots of money for poor quality food and smelly toilets to boot!

Having heard good reviews of the food quality we visited this past Thursday
Lovely location but the food was a lot of money for poor quality. Children’s burgers with no lettuce leaf tomato or pickle plain and unappetising (report of a 10 year old).
Steaks were ok and the chips better than the rest of a bad lot - pepper sauce tasted of gravy plus lots of red peppercorns whole and watery. Stilton ‘sauce’ tasted of water and as runny as water. Fish was good but the batter overcooked.
Essentially rubbish food despite recent good reports
To top it all off - smelly toilets. Always a bad sign - should’ve believed them.

Pleasant and clean hotel

We stayed for 2 nights. Room was clean and spacious and the bathroom was big with a bath and a shower. The Shower was brilliant - one of the best we have come across :-) We ate at the Inn both nights and enjoyed both meals. They had a special of 2 x fish'n chips for £20 one night, which was great value. We did get charged £14.80 for a large sauv blank which was a bit of a rip off to be honest.. but other drinks were about right. Staff were courteous and friendly. Only downside to me was the fact that the room (Musgrave) was right above both the kitchen (not a problem), and a huge external extractor fan which was loud and I felt it was intrusive. It came on at 7am and was on all day till about 9pm. Thankfully it wasn't on all night.. It wasn't the end of the world TBH, and we would go back - but would make sure it was a different room. We were told "That's why that room is cheaper" but there was no mention of that when we booked it on booking.com. Pleasant stay - recommended.

A little gem

A little gem.
Very impressed with the standards, food, decor and general well running of this delightful inn.
We spent 2 nights there albeit with a gap in between therefore experienced 2 rooms, both charming with lovely bed linen and toiletries.
On the second night, on our way home, we were most impressed that a fan had been put on in our room (on the hottest day of the year so far.)
Staff were very pleasant and obliging.
My only slightly negative comment would be that the
food portions are a bit too generous leading to waste.
I would not hesitate to recommend The Plough to anybody. I would love to return.

Service great food ????????

The service was second to none .
What a lively setting
Beer garden great.
It was my partners birthday so lunch was a treat .
The beefburger was homemade and fantastic.
Do not order the ploughman's unless you are on a diet.
Didn't expect a plateful but i genuinely think something was missing whilst quality was adequate the description on the menu deceives.
Will visit again but certainly not for food .

Just been to The Plough at Alsager

Just been to The Plough at Alsager. Had turkey - it was carved so thin, I couldn't pick it up as it just fell to bits. The Yorkshire pud, and all the vegetables were cold, as were the stuffing and gravy, The cranberry sauce was very runny and far too sweet. Had to leave most of it as I felt sick when I got a mouthful of turkey fat.
No-one asked what we thought of the meal either. It left a nasty taste in my mouth. Will not be having a carvery there again!

50th wedding anniversary

Thank you for all the hard work the staff did tonight. They were exceptional and helpful. The meals were excellent, and how fast you got them out and in order, everyone enjoyed it. It made our night to know that everything went to plan. Would recommend them 100th per cent.

Lukewarm and lacklustre splab

We went for Sunday dinner at the plough carvery. There was only a wee bit of turkey, a bit of ham fat and a huge hunk of uncooked beef, that was rubbery and bloody right to its outer edges. There was a crusty old pan with dried potato baked into it, that the server unceremoniously dumped another bin of mash into. All the veg were cold and the pans were congealing around the edges and judging by the crusty bits had been under a spotlight since lunchtime. I actually had to ask for steak knives as you couldn’t cut anything on the plate with a normal knife. My advice to anyone thinking of going to the plough is…..save your money and buy a pot noodle as you’ll enjoy it more!
