Maximum profit minimal food.

I'm giving one star but that is just for the staff, who I feel sorry for. This used to be a good restaurant, excellent value and good food. Since it has been taken over by a private equity firm it has been operated on a maximise profit model that has left it a shell of it's former self. They are just interested in serving the minimal amount of food of the cheapest quality for the maximum price, it's such a shame, especially for the staff who frankly must be embarrassed to serve it.
The last time I went to the Southampton branch I ordered 'Halloumi Skewers' £24. What I got for that was two small pieces of Halloumi, they were on skewers I'll give them that, but nothing else was on the skewers, no veg no nothing, why were they on skewers then!! I also got a teacup sized portion of french fries, 2 small dips and a small flat bread, for £24, are you kidding!!. When the waitress came over to ask if everything was ok she was so embarrassed, I felt so sorry for her. Minutes later she returned and said they'd comp everything. Will not be going back ever. We've since found a lovely greek place on Oxford Street which serves amazing food at reasonable prices, I recommend you go there rather that The Real Thief.

We ordered a takeaway for collection at The Real Greek in Windsor and as always service was friendly and the food was delicious. It’s such a lovely, clean bright restaurant.
I highly recommend trying the Greek orange cake if you want to treat yourself, it doesn’t disappoint. Thank you Jeno for your hospitality and look forward to visiting your 2-4-1 offer in January 10/10

Nice setting throughout when we arrived staff were very pleasant but when the food came the disappointment from all 6 off us was not good at all, portions were so small all served on side plates not a dinner plate to be seen, the chicken scure was pathetic and clearly microwaved, fillow pastry and spinach was a samosa deep fried truly shocking ,infact every thing was a horror story, the worst thing off all was the moussaka from the frozen aisle at farm foooo you know what I mean, so bad I can't even begin to put in to words avoid Avoid Avoid Avoid this food terrible experience

I had the beef stifado

I had the beef stifado, it was the smallest main course I have ever had in my life, I, ve had bigger tapas portions. 3 bite size pieces of beef and 1 shallot onion. I ended up going for fish and chips in another restaurant. I will never go there again in my life. Daylight robbery.

Avoid, complete waste of money!!

One star only for the taste of the food (Edinburgh Branch)
We tried the moussaka, and neither I nor my four friends recognised it as anything close to the moussaka we know. The topping was a jelly like layer of what was supposed to be cheese, with no flavor and an odd, gelatinous texture instead of a creamy sauce. There was also no noticeable aubergine taste at all.
The Greek salad had barely any cheese, and the chicken skewers lacked both flavor and proper texture.
We were five people from different parts of the world, and unfortunately none of us enjoyed the meal.
On a positive note, the team working there was polite and nice.

Went to The Real Greek Restaurant yesterday...Awful Experience.

Went to The Real Greek Restaurant Liverpool City Centre yesterday. Food was awful.!Ordered 2 Vegetable Moussakas.Arrived on a cold tea plates. Was Square. Looked and tasted like a heavily processed cheap ready meal !Chips were cheap frozen ones, also holummi fries out of a frozen bag ,was a pool of grease in bottom of the bowl.Wine was rank.
I could understand why the restaurant was virtually empty.
The worst restaurant we visited in a long time ! Definitely NOT Real Greek !And disappointed as was a Birthday meal...couldn't have been any worse.
Not even worthy of 1 star.. but unable to put none!Avoid at your peril !!

We didn’t have the best experience…

We didn’t have the best experience here. One of the starters was forgotten, and when my meal was finally brought out, it was accidentally dropped on the floor. My replacement dish arrived after most of the table had already finished eating, and when it was handed to me, I wasn’t warned that the skewer was extremely hot, which resulted in my hand getting burned.

My friend’s food also came out at completely different times, even though it was part of a set meal—by the time the rice arrived, the meat was already cold. I will say that the staff who were serving the food were polite.

When we complained, we were told the issues were due to the restaurant being busy. They offered to remove the service charge (which we wouldn’t have paid given the experience) and take one starter off the bill. However, when I went to the till to pay, the staff member who served me had an attitude, which just added to the disappointment.

Overall, I wouldn’t return.

awful food

Lamb that tasted like liver, "greek salad" that was only tomatoes and no dressing, cold chips -- food at the Stratford Real Greek that truly awful. What a waste of money.

Absolutely awful

Absolutely awful. Service very slow although restaurant not busy. Serving sizes were miniscule. I ordered the beef stew (it had a Greek name, but tasted like stew out of a tin). It arrived in a bowl the size of a teacup and was tepid. Four small chunks of beef for £13. Will never eat there again and will advise friends and family to avoid it.

Menu has changed. Not as good as it was previously.

We recently went to the Dulwich Real Greek. I always enjoy going there. The staff are friendly, but they have changed the menu, and it isn’t the same, for example, they no longer serve rice, the only alternative is fries. This is disappointing, it’s as if the menu has shrunk.

Good food but too pricey for me

Real Greek Restaurant

Good food but too pricey for me

The Real Greek is obviously a good quality restaurant.

However, reviews must consider the context of price in proportion to quality and service.

Baring in mind, this is the most expensive lunch I've ever had, plus a 10% service charge.

They have a lot to live up to. My review must take into consideration what I have had to pay.

Often businesses must decide wether pricing is going to be set at ‘treat’ or one-off visit price. Or at a every day price where you could pop by daily or multiple times in a week.
I dont think the Real Greek met either brief.

The food was of good quality and well cooked at a cost £65 + service charge.
Places of a similar quality have mains at £15 per person + service charge.
One may say, you get what you pay for. However, there was no major difference in service. Considering, when we arrived, there were no other customers. Therefore good service wasn't particularly challenging.

When we arrived, we were immediately given a jug of tap water. Which was a good start.

I was also impressed by the amount of authentic Greek choices.

I asked for a no carb alternative to the chips and was offered halloumi fries, which i was pleased with.

The Greek lager was nothing to write home about. It only goes to show, that just because a beer is brewed locally, it doesn't make it more interesting.

The main plate you will see in the picture cost us £50 to share. You can decide if that is good value for money.

£72 for lunch is surely a one-off and will not invite regular custom.

in Short, i really enjoyed my afternoon, but was unhappy with what I paid.

Lack of empathy

Requested an outside table as partner is deaf and outside is less noisy, was to ld no as outside tables just been cleaned and wre damp, seemed strange as chair seats are pvc coated a wipe with some kitchen roll would have sorted that out.poor customer service and lack of empathy for someone with a disability.Hearing aids pick up every sound and the clatter and noise of inside makes hearing problematic.

Very disappointed with the food on our visit on Sunday last week. I’ve eaten at this restaurant many times in past few years and it used to offer an outstanding menu choice. However the menu has changed vastly since my last visit - there are no longer the vast list of tapas dishes and set menu options. In its place is a very limited selection of dishes that aren’t authentic Greek dishes. We choose the sea food platter for two and were surprised by this small dish of over cooked king prawns, calamari, some fries and a small salad - price £50!
I won’t be returning there anymore - there are plenty of other great places to eat in Bournemouth, such a shame.
