Massively Overcrowded and Stressful – Not Worth the Money

We just visited Therme Erding on the 14th March 2026 and honestly, it was one of the most stressful spa experiences we have had. The entire resort was absolutely overcrowded from the moment we arrived at 10am. Finding anywhere to sit was nearly impossible, with loungers everywhere already “reserved“ by towels and no one actually using them.

The overcrowding affected everything. Buying a drink was difficult because of the queues, and we were unable to attend any of the spa/sauna events that run throughout the day because they were simply too full. If you do want to try one of the sauna show events, be prepared to be packed in shoulder-to-shoulder and in full body contact with strangers. That is not relaxing, and it completely defeats the purpose of going to a spa.

The food was only okay, nothing special, and overall the whole day felt like pure stress rather than relaxation. It was very clear that the place is massively understaffed and that management is prioritising fitting in as many paying guests as possible over comfort, service, and the actual guest experience.

We also noticed poor upkeep in some areas, including broken toilet seats that shifted during use, and towels and bags being thrown or stuffed anywhere because there was no proper space left. The whole place felt chaotic and badly managed.

To be fair, most of the staff we encountered were friendly, apologetic, and clearly trying their best under difficult conditions. The waiting staff at the pool bar even apologised for how busy it was. All of the waiters and bar staff we dealt with were pleasant. We only came across two rude pool staff policing the pool area. So the problem is not mainly the frontline staff, it is clearly poor management and inadequate infrastructure for the number of people being admitted.

We will never return. Therme Erding may look appealing on paper, but for us it was completely overcrowded, badly managed, and not enjoyable in any capacity. Do not waste your money on a stressful day here.
