Data breach!

We wanted to make changes to our will, which all seemed to be fine. However, they sent the new wills to old addrss despite them having the correct address since 2017 and confirming this. I am very upset that our personal information was sent to a stranger. No one answers the phone or emails. I have even tried to contact their director but even he doesn't reply.

Expect Upselling & Disrespect

I bought a will-writing service through Groupon, expecting a straightforward process. Instead, it turned into a sales conversation that left a bad taste.

While going through the details, they asked about existing financial arrangements and insurance. Once disclosed, they immediately criticised what I already had in place and implied I would be in serious financial trouble if anything were ever claimed. This felt unnecessary and alarmist rather than helpful.

I fully understand that the service cost was only £20. I was not expecting anything complex. All I wanted was a simple will that left everything to my husband, with one person named to deal with everything and distribute assets to the appropriate people where needed.

Rather than respecting this, they openly disagreed with my decisions and repeatedly tried to push additional services to increase the price. It felt less like professional advice and more like pressure selling.

The overall approach seemed to be to undermine existing financial decisions in order to justify add-ons and inflate fees. The final comment along the lines of “did you really expect a will for £20?” summed up the attitude perfectly.

If you are looking for a simple will as advertised, be prepared for upselling and judgement rather than a neutral, respectful service.

An experience soured........

Initially I found my experience with this company to be very good. However, I did find whilst talking through my wishes to update my existing Will (not written by this company), some pressure to agree to additional services such as Power of Attorney after I made it clear I wasn't interested in this product. However, what soured my experience was asking a simple question that was never answered. I discussed including a "Reside to Trust" to allow my partner to stay at my property and was told it would cost an additional £399, a reduced rate as it would normally cost in the region of £1,000. I agreed, but when I received my Will (draft), the Trust consisted of a headline paragraph and four small subsequent paragraphs; indeed words that could easily be extracted from a Google search. I sent numerous emails to Russ Kerry, managing Director simply asking for an explanation, but I never did get an answer to my question. I did take a call from him, to say he apologised for not responding, he was out of the office but would call me without fail when back in the office. I never did get a call, and to this date I've not received any further communication from him or the company. I have since found out that Will Writing companies in the UK are unregulated, so unfortunately, there is no course of action open to complain. I reached out one final time to Mr Kerry, but once again no reply. I wasn't asking for a refund, just a simple clarification.

Eat my words!

After previously complaining about this companies response time and giving a 1 star review, I now have to eat my words! We've had a number of issues at our end sorting paperwork out and Russ has gone out of his way to accommodate all our requests.

I've had messages and calls whenever requested and now have no issues dealing with this company.

I can’t emphasise enough how thrilled I was to be recommended to The Will Writing Company
Extremely friendly competent staff.
The owner Russ Kerry went through in fine detail with me so I understood everything, especially as I was new to this , ie: My Will & Lasting Power of Attorney, I now have total piece of mind ,
I without a shadow of a doubt highly recommended TWWC.

This company is a scam

This company is a scam, how they can continue to operate is scandalous. Under no circumstances trade with this bunch of crooks.
I've lost £100 but others have lost more. Also, get in touch with local papers to stop them advertising their theft.
