Thanks to Anya & Liv not forgetting the incredible Chefs

We had a fantastic visit to the Windmill Inn, Williton, celebrating Mum’s birthday. The food was incredible and perfectly matched by amazing, friendly service throughout.

With five big eaters enjoying a two-course meal plus drinks, we were all extremely satisfied — and at £144.85 it was outstanding value for money.

Huge thanks to Anya & Liv for helping make the celebration so enjoyable. Highly recommended!

Very disappointing visit

Very disappointing visit. We ordered a ham sandwich and a camembert sandwich, and both were shocking in terms of value for money – a complete rip-off, honestly.

Firstly, both sandwiches arrived toasted, despite the menu stating sandwich only. The ham was cheap, thin, and poor quality, and the camembert was well below standard – nothing like what you’d expect from a place charging these prices. To make matters worse, the chips were unpleasant and barely edible.

Overall, we left feeling let down and out of pocket. For a venue with such a lovely setting, the food offering really doesn’t measure up. Definitely not somewhere I’d recommend if you’re expecting quality.

Could you stand on a chair Sir?!

Service was very poor. I had the air-conditioning unit blowing down very cold air towards me but being part of a large group, couldn’t change tables. I asked them if they could re-direct the fans or turn it off and the young member of staff went off to ask someone. Nobody came back. I then asked another member of staff who gave the reply, ‘Could you do it?’ !!
Bearing in mind I’d have to stand on a chair to do this and the Louvre’s are controlled by a remote control - no I couldn’t! He went back to speak to management and again, didn’t come back. In the end I did stand on a chair and turned off the unit at the isolator.
Not sure the words ‘Poor service’ cover this.
Food wise - The crab risotto was nice but cold in places after parts of it had come from the fridge and not heated thoroughly.
Wouldn’t have chosen to go there myself and wouldn’t again.

Lack lustre and never again

We used to frequent this pub quite often, just come back on a Friday afternoon in June and it was a major disappointment.
Took forever to get served, one guy making coffee and no one else around.
Over eleven pounds for one beer and one lager, the food was OK but forgot to bring out the curry sauce, absolutely no urgency in the place, it was almost as though none of the staff wanted to be there.
I always remember the pub being busy on a Friday afternoon in Summertime, not today, very very quiet.
Will I be going back, I’m afraid not, they’ve lost me but they are probably not bothered.

Visited today 10/02/25

Visited today 10/02/25, having been several times before and been happy on previous occasions.
However, somewhat disappointed today as when it came to Desserts, virtually all options were Plant based, especially Ice Creams, which we normally have to clean the palate. We are not all Vegans / Vegetarians so please do not force these options on us at the expense of Dairy Products. We don't mind seeing Vegan options on the menus but It is essential to give customers a choice of Dairy Products too.

Am afraid we will be looking elsewhere in future despite the excellent venue and views over the Bristol Channel

On holiday in Watchet and visited The Windmill Inn just a couple of miles down the road.
On walking in we were welcomed by lovely smiles and a nice clear ‘hello’.
We sat at the bar and ordered our drinks and as we didn’t need a big meal we both settled on a starter. My husband had calamari which he said was delicious. I went for homemade mushroom soup. It was amazing like a bowl of stew, thick and flavoursome with bread and butter.
As we sat there we got chatting to the staff, one in particular- Molly. She was only 18 (I asked her). She was telling us about local places to visit only they would know living in the area. Me and my husband were BOTH so grateful to her, not only her wealth on knowledge but her social skills interacting with the customers. She really is an asset to the pub. So much so we went back 2 days later but it was her evening off. We both ordered the soup, delicious again.
It was a breath of fresh air to walk into a lovely big pub/restaurant and be welcomed instead of waiting for the staff to put their mobiles away.
Molly is a truly wonderful young lady any parent would be proud of.
Carry on the good work, friendly staff made our evenings so enjoyable.

Wouldn’t let me choose from kids menu

I’d come as part of a group for my daughter’s birthday. I’ve had gastric surgery and can only eat a child’s meal when I go out which has never been a problem in most places but at The Windmill they wouldn’t allow myself or my diabetic mother to choose from the kids menu. They told us they could do a smaller portion but, only from two meals both of which were deep fried. As a result I have been extremely unwell for over 24 hours and might need medical advice. I contacted the restaurant to complain and to suggest they reconsider their decision in the future and was hoping for an apology but none has been forthcoming. I’m not after a free meal as I’d never go back but an apology would be nice.

Very poor

Pre booked a table for four arrived at 12.15 and they tried to seat us at the back of the resturant when we asked if we could sit at the window overlooking the bristol channel it took the young man several minutes with us stood in the middle of the resturant to come back to us as it would appear that he had to seek permmision for us to sit there bearing in mind there were only four other people in the resturant at the time. They took our orders and one of the people requested just a pie with chips NO Mashed Potato OR VEG when the meals arrived one meal was missing no guesses which meal was missing it was near on impossible to attract the staffs attention despite trying for a about four minutes it meat that the three of us did know when the fourth meal would be arriving or whether to start our meals which were getting cold. When the forth Meal arrived guess what it had mashed potato and cabbage and had to be returned to the kitchen by this time the three of us had almost finished our meal when the forth meal finaly arrived as per request was almost ten minutes after we received our meals previously. In fairness they did apologise for there incompitence and poor service.

I suppose the only remaining question is would I eat there again after that exsperience what do you think?

Excellent Establishment

Myself & my wife have just stayed for one evening at this lovely pub/Restaurant/hotel, managment has just changed, 2 brothers have taken it over, having had a lengthy disscusion they are very passionate about the windmill and it's customers, going on previous reviews and word of mouth there has already been a 100% change for the better, my experiance of the stop over was nothing but excellent, the room was bright, and very clean, with a king size bed, and a balcony looking over some spectacular views. The bar/restaurant was well stocked with a great selection of drinks and food, the staff are very Customer focused nothing is to much trouble, we will definitely be staying again in the near future hopefully for longer, we highly recommended that you try this lovely place and form your own opinion.

The staff are very rude

The staff are very rude and exclusionary. We were told we could not sit at a table because it was booked but the table was free for over an hour.

Pumps obviously not cleaned and the beer tasted like dish water.

Won't be coming back.

Our table in the back room was very sticky so I asked for it to be cleaned and was given a cloth and spray bottle.! I'm the customer! Still sticky must be the varnish. Carvery veg were luck warm so our table asked for them to be microwaved. Raised eyebrows from guy in kitchen. The only positive was the young lad carving the meat very polite and apologetic. Will not be returning.
