Toby Calvery - Shame on you!!!

I recently went to a Toby Carvery in South Wales Gorseinon near me with my wife & & 2 Grandchildren. It was the worst meal i have ever had. I normally easy going & would'nt write a review but i felt it was so bad i have to warn people not to waste there money. Me & my wife had a really bad meal it was burnt. I had burnt roast potatoes & burnt parsnips plus the peas were rock hard. The children could'nt have chips as they dont sell them. So they had burnt roast potatoes with there chicken nuggets & beans. Again the roast potatoes the children could'nt eat as they were burnt. Dont they have any pride at all & think about the kids menu. Children like chips with there meals. Shame on Toby Calvery. My meal.came to £63.50 for 4 cokes + 2 Bad Calverys & rubbish kids meals. Will never go back all be warned!!!.

Ormskirk Toby not good enough.

Called in today Toby Carvery in Ormskirk. My wife and I had a table booked for 16:10.

We was shown to our table. We informed a member of staff we was both having a carvery standard size and was taking advantage of the £7 for over 65s after 3pm.

No problem he said, would you like a drink? We both ordered a cup of tea. I went for my food as the brews was still getting prepared.

So I was happy with the chef and the 4 slices of meat. I then proceeded to the vegetables. He'd just removed the lids on all the veg and I looked and thought these are old. All dried up. The macorni was that hard I'm surprised I never cracked a tooth. The roast potatoes was all dried up inside. The mash was only luke warm.

The green peas was fine but everything else was rubbish. When I sat down to eat our cup of teas arrived and was only luke warm.

The only good thing about this is that we paid £7 x 2 for 2 carverys and to be honest that is all it was worth.

Really disappointed as last time we went a cpl weeks ago everything was good.

Managers attitude stinks

Turned up at Newbury early and got a drink waiting for our party to arrive. The woman served me was in tears at being shouted at by the manager. I was then lambasted for sitting down awaiting our parties arrival.
The attitude of the manager is disgraceful and the way she addresses patrons and her staff is not acceptable

Tasteless and bland a poor offering

I visited the Toby Carvery Eastbourne with my wife today ( Sunday) for a roast dinner. The staff were very attentive and the place was buzzing. The food looked very appetising and was served by very enthusiastic chefs. Alas that is were the positive feedback ends. The food was bland, without taste and although it looked good it was lacklustre and tasteless. The cauliflower cheese, usually good, was under cooked and did not taste of cheese. In all I felt my £50 could have been better spent at one of the other gastro pubs in the area.

Don't order for home delivery

Whatever you do, don't use their home delivery service. Two meals were ordered from their Enfield (Cambridge Road) establishment. This was to celebrate my 80th birthday with a friend. Food arrives in a paper bowl with everything just chucked one on top of the other. Simply not possible to eat vegetables separately. Potatoes had been heated for far too long and were hard and unedible. No cauliflower included as shown in promotional photo. No parsnips which you would expect with a roast and not even offered as an optional extra. The one thing which was a saving grace was the Turkey which was succulent and a good sized portion but overall the meal was a big disappointment both in terms of quality and presentation..

My biggest complaint relates to when reporting my dissatisfaction to Toby. Their complaint service on their website is a joke. They simply don't bother to respond (I complained twice).

It is too big a gamble to rely on freshly cooked food to arrive. Instead one can invariably expect food which has been left in heated containers for far too long and is got rid of by being heaped in a bowl just like feeding a dog and then delivered to you to attempt to sort out properly onto plates before serving. Toby really have lost the plot and have no idea how to deliver food properly. Do you really want the vegetables just all mixed together and impossible to separate?

The Food you don't want to eat or pay for.

The Food: A Plate of Afterthoughts
Being vegan at a carvery shouldn't feel like a punishment, but that’s exactly how this meal felt. Because every "official" main course option turned out to be merely vegetarian rather than vegan, I was forced to mix and match just to put something on the plate.
The Lowlight: Most of the plate was a lukewarm assortment of vegetables that felt like they had been sitting under the heat lamps since the previous decade.
The Saving Grace: Credit where it’s due—the roast potatoes were the only thing actually cooked properly. They were crisp and seasoned, but a pile of potatoes does not a "carvery" make.
Service: Indifferent and Glacial
If the food was disappointing, the service was outright frustrating. The staff showed zero interest in the customers; it felt like we were inconveniencing them by simply existing in the dining room.
The most egregious part? The wait times. It took 25 minutes from the moment we ordered our drinks to the moment they actually hit the table. In a restaurant built on the concept of "fast" carvery service, waiting nearly half an hour for a beverage is inexcusable.
The Verdict: This was, without exaggeration, the worst carvery I’ve ever eaten. If you have dietary requirements—or if you simply value attentive service and hot food—I’d suggest looking elsewhere. Toby has lost its way.

Good food. Good value.

Toby Goring by Sea My lunchtime meal today was fab. I had the salmon en croute and the array of veg was very good . And roast potatoes - just right perfect . I was there at about 3 today. I happened to see who looked like the chef passing through and told him that whoever did the cooking today was one of the best meals I have tasted in a long time.
And the girl who served me was also polite and helpful, All in all 4****definitely.
I’ll give it 5*****when you bring back ‘mini puds’ ie apple and black bury crumble. (not toffee)
which is ideal for kids and older people.
I’m sure many people don’t have a dessert as they think ‘too much sugar’

Toby Waterside warrington.

Toby waterside warrington.
We arrived to be given plates that were dirty, which I had to point out. The cut of beef was bad, lots of grissle and fat, so bad that I refused the meat. The gammon looked under cooked. The potatoes were shocking, some of them looked gray. I changed my mind and refused to eat, there seems to be an issue with flies. My husband ate and I sat there with a glass of cola. Other people complained as well. Not the first time.

I WOULD GIVE ZERO IF IT WAS ON THE SCORING STARS

If I could give zero I would. 2 Full Breakfast £17.98, before Just Eats charge for delivery. Just Eat delivery fine from Oulton Toby LS26 no eggs, less sausage and less bacon, and beans and tomato's thrown over the top in one bowl, so all food soggy, uneatable from the restaurant, and this is the 2nd time it has happened in 6 months. Rang the restaurant who admit they were at fault, yes the Manager said sorry but nothing he could do up to me to get in touch with Just Eat. No if you can bring it back we will exchange or It's our fault and we will help you with the complaint with Just Eat, or I will send you a voucher for a couple of free drinks if you call in our restaurant. Explained this is second time, giving benefit of doubt on the first time, and is the restaurant struggling with the extra service or just not bothered about the takeaway side. Manager said we just do what we are told!!! I told the Manager I would be reporting this restaurant to Head Office, Just Eat, and Trust Pilot, of which I have, and I have had 3 emails from 3 different customer services stating the Manager said I was Threating and Aggressive and they will not tolerate that manner, when I emailed back and used Capital Letters on their negatives towards me, the email I got back was that my emails are also Aggressive, and suggest I get my Breakfast from some where else!!! So if you wait and hour for food, pay a lot of money, Have items missing, and in a bowl like a dogs dinner, when you ring to complain make sure you don't voice your upset on the phone, as this is Threating and Aggressive, also when you send an email to complain make sure you are totally computer savvy to use a way of underlining or highlighting words, not Capital letters, as this is also Threating and Aggressive. At the end of it they don't want you to return but eat else where and at the time I put my complaint in Toby was 2.4 score on Trust Pilot. I am seeking legal advice of how I have been branded by this company, which will cost me money, but hopefully the Company will start training staff better on all aspects of jobs, from the staff who serve the food, to the Managers who deal with complaints, and the Office staff in complaints who emails back to judge a person, they have never even spoke to, and 3 different people who emailed back the same email. The best is when asked how would they have handled the situation my email reply was 'I would have eaten the food then call the Duty Manager'.

My husband and I have been going to…

My husband and I have been going to Toby carvery buckhust hill nearly every Sunday. The staff are very friendly and the food is fresh and hot. It's my favourite thing to do on Sunday. I'm not a vegetarian but the veggie gravy is so tasty. I would recommend it. From angela Woodford Green 💚

Visited the toby in Chelmsford on 22…

Visited the toby in Chelmsford on 22 Jan.It was very busy and a massive queue for the carvery (but it was 1pm) despite not booking were seated and drinks ordered and served promptly. We waited a while for the queue to reduce, it didn't, so we joined to see the hold up.One woman carving the meat (she was so slow! didn't look like she had done it before!!) Talking to others in the queue, they all agreed it was VERY slow. Some reported waiting 40/50 minutes on previous visits. We waited 1 hour to reach the counter - plates cold(as usual)- yorkshires cold and flat-vegetables luke warm and tasteless- vegetarian gravy thin and tasteless (we were having a meatless carvery) We and others were using the £6 offer, so it was very busy, we shouldn't have bothered! The meal I had was barely worth that. If they want to swell their numbers and attract new customers with such promotions they need to be geared up for such increased trade and provide a better service! Then those people may return (but not likely), going by the many poor reviews I've read for many of the outlets.
