I used Toptal for a number of technical short term roles and overall it was a good experience. The talent had the required technical skills and worked effectively to augment the current team. One thing to keep in mind is that there is a buyout fee associated to hiring any candidates introduced through Toptal. It's fair given that it's similar to what you'd expect finding talent from an outside agency but it's an important consideration, especially if you are in a position to go from contract to full time hire.

I had an opportunity to work with the top clients on some very interesting and demanding projects. Best thing for us contractors is that we only have to focus on work and leave all the administrative tasks to Toptal. That really helps in focusing on what we are best at.

Toptal really makes life easy for talent. When you get a job notification, it already includes a solid description and an estimate of the client's needs. If you're invited to apply, you get a bonus head start on landing the role. They’re upfront about the pay, so you never have to talk money with the client, you just get paid on time.

so far good, good right now

I've been on the platform for over 10 years as both a developer and designer and I've never had the need to try other platforms. The matching process is high-level and the projects are high-level, too. And all of the in-between (contracts, payment, etc.) is taken care of and smooth, so you can focus on the stuff you do best.
