Terms and conditions over common sense
I am a university student who purchased a Trados subscription only to complete a single academic assignment. The subscription renewed automatically on 12 March, charging €50 to my card. I did not see the renewal notification in time, but as soon as I noticed the charge — just 3 days later, on 15 March — I immediately cancelled the subscription.
I contacted Trados support asking for a refund, explaining that:
✗ The renewed period was never used
✗ I cancelled within 3 days of the charge
✗ The renewal was unintentional
Their response was a copy-paste refusal citing terms and conditions, with zero consideration of my specific situation.
€50 is a significant amount for a student. I find it deeply disappointing that a company would refuse a refund in such clear circumstances. I would not recommend Trados to any student or occasional user — be very careful with their auto-renewal policy.
