Room with almost no view

The floor desk staff did send me up to the third floor, roof level, with a key that didn't work. I called the reception and a man came up with a new key. When I entered the room I saw that there were only two small windows in the roof / sloped wall. I called the floor desk again and was informed that the hotel was fully booked and that nothing could be done regarding a change of room for me. This was a big disappointment since I booked the room three months ago, and I booked an expensive room to be sure to get a nice room with a kind of view, at least horizontal, and not just up in the clouds through the roof. Therefor I will only give this hotel one star, no matter how elegant and clean the hotel is.
Sadly enough I often experience that hotels give solo travellers roof rooms with sloping walls and improvised windows, like with this hotel. Not at all coresponding to the pretty photos in the booking sites. Very dishonest. Of course I understand that hotels divide their upper floors into rooms - but then they should be honest about this different upper floor style in their photos, and they shouldn't charge the same as they do charge for the remaining rooms with straight walls and nice windows with views. That is just greedy and not nice.
So if you are a solo traveler - do NOT choose this hotel. Instead consider airbnb or an appartement where you know beforehand what kind of room(s) you are having ...
Other travelers like couples might enjoy this hotel once in a nice room. It is a beautiful hotel and they are very nice in the reception and restaurant.

Tired and old. Much room to improve.

Room is tired and old. Desk has bubbles. Bathroom smells. Shower is lukewarm at best, and leaks all over the bathroom floor.

Wait for breakfast... yesterday, 7 minutes. Today, 4 minutes. And for what? Just for someone to look at your room number. The people are lovely. The process is plain stupid.

Today, they didn't service the room. But did put a note through the door saying "We recognise you don't want your room serviced". Well, I never said I that. Now, I have the hassle of getting fresh towels, etc.

Couldn't get served at the bar. Waited a few minutes, and was completely ignored. Staff more interested in moving glasses from one place to the next.

It's noisy. But this is Dublin, and you must expect that.

I frequently stay in Dublin. I would not stay here again.

Wow super

Wow, stunning Hotel. Helpful/friendly staff. Room was amazing, it was my birthday and the cleaning had left a beautiful surprise of a swan with rose petals on our bed and the Hotel left a bottle of Prosecco and a dessert!! It was beautiful. Central location, breakfast was 10 out of 10. Would recommend

Disappointing

Was so looking forward to staying here but was left disappointed.
Lunch here was great, breakfast was nothing special but my main complaint is that we booked a twin room, got a double instead but after encountering a taciturn receptionist we decided it really wasn't worth having to deal with her again.
For a four star hotel it was the little things that upset us most. Holes in the bath towels, mediocre shower which aimed more towards the wall and the lack of electrical sockets by the bed, they were across the room by the TV.
I would not recommend this hotel.

FABULOUS

FABULOUS! I would stay here again and again. The staff were friendly, professional and helpful. Location was perfect, easy access to Temple Bar area, the Liffey river and the hop on hop off bus is right across from the hotel, as is Trinity College. At night you can find your way home, thanks to the purple lights on the facade! We had dinner one night at the hotel and the food was delicious. As someone with an allergy to onions, they had no trouble giving me a great meal. Love the decor, such a comfy bed and lux bathroom. Can't wait to return.

Exellent location, rates... exellent hotel

Positive surprise in Dublin. Looks kinda boring from outside but when you step inside its like taking a step back in time to somewhere in Egypt. Huge contrast to the rainy streets of Dublin. Good rates. Good food. Good service.
