Extremely Disappointed — Misled and Scammed for $1300
I signed up for a 3-month challenge at this gym starting January 13, paying $1300 with the understanding that I’d have access to group classes until mid-April. I made it very clear from the beginning that I was joining specifically for the classes — not for the gym equipment, as I already have a $10/month membership at a gym five minutes from my home.
Not long after starting, the gym suddenly closed in February with no proper communication. I only found out through word-of-mouth and from the receptionist that the location was shutting down and that operations were supposedly being transferred to a facility in Woodbridge — even further than the original Vaughan location, which was already inconvenient for me.
To make matters worse, even at the Woodbridge location, I was told I would only have access to the gym and not the classes unless I paid an additional $60/month — on top of the $1300 I had already paid — plus $40 for a new membership. That was never part of the original agreement.
Throughout this ordeal, I tried reaching out to the owner (who I had previously spoken with and who had given me a sense of security and trust), but he has completely disappeared. I later found out through staff and other members that this isn’t the first time this has happened — and that others have been left in similar situations.
It leaves a very bitter feeling to have invested so much money, only to be left without the services I paid for — and with no accountability or explanation. I feel misled, taken advantage of, and deeply disappointed.
